Wow, from medium up to high this string really shines for a much better price point then something like the black beauty for example. Down low I think Ludwig takes the cake but I might sell my black beauty and get one of those for $400 less dollars

Your snare demos are excellent. Do you use any muffling or compression?

I try not to use muffling on the snares to show their full sound potential. I have used a wallet type thing in the past but it's mentioned in the captions if it's being used. Oftentimes the toms will have a little muffling, usually just a a strip of tape.
And no compression as such for these videos. Just a tiny bit of limiting on the master to make the finished product loud enough.

Great sound , how does it compare to a Pearl Heritage Alloy nickel brass?

I haven't played the "Heritage Alloy" version, but I've used the black-nickel-over-brass Sensitones lots over the years and they're extremely similar to this here Sonor. Both really killer snares!

@@2112percussion_ many thanks for the reply . Just about to purchase the Kompressor here in Australia . Had owned a black nickel brass Pearl sensitone elite some years ago…sold it and regretted it .
Your video quality and variations covered really helped me 👍 Thanks again

Have my Sonor now and it sounds good but just trying to tame the overtones a little with sympathetic buzz from surrounding toms. Do you have the snare reso head at a particular tension to keep it under control. I'm happy with the sound just the buzz needs a little attention.
    Cheers 🙂

I tune by ear so all I can tell you is that snare side heads are tight and balanced, but not so high that they choke. Usually sympathetic buzz is caused by two drums having pitches too close to each other, so try tuning your offending tom up or down a smidge. But you're also never going to completely eliminate sympathetic buzz, just because you have all these things making sound, and they will always affect other things that make sound. I've heard that loosening the tension rods next to the snare wires by a quarter turn or so can help reduce sympathetic buzz, but personally I didn't like what that did to the sound of the snare.
