    When I first plugged in the Tumnus at home it sounded okay. When I used it on stage, that’s when I “got it”. Now I never turn it off. It makes everything sound better and more alive. It cuts through the densest mix without sounding hyped. It’s the drive for people who hate drive pedals and love their amp tone but need a little more hair on the note. Internally it runs at 18 volts and the drive knob is actually a mix knob. That’s what I call “transparent”. The buffer alone is worth the price of admission. I would not want this pedal in true bypass. Love it.

    • @curtvogue5720
      @curtvogue5720 3 года назад

      I just ordered one because I want it at the start of my chain and I *want* the buffer! Everything else in front of my amp is true bypass, I need a good buffer there... can't wait to get it and fire it up.

    Phillip, the gratitude you show to your viewers (plus the fact that they're damned good videos) is what keeps me coming back. You've inspired me to be aware of what I'm playing, why I'm playing it, and to always know my gear. Keep up the good work!

    I'd love to hear your thoughts and your review of the Decibelics Golden Horse mini pedal. I just took receipt of one of these jewels and, for my ears, it's the closest thing to a Klon I've played. It sounds incredible; especially the bottom end. I'd love to see your take on having a guitar in cold climates. I'm in NYC in a pre-war apartment that doesn't always have the best heating so the temperature can fluctuate pretty regularly. How can this affect my guitar and does it do permanent damage? Basically, a maintenance video in regards to climate. Thanks! P.S- I think a little video tutorial on how to play your catchy intro would be pretty neat, too.

    The name it’s actually very clever, because this is a copy of the circuit of the original pedal: Klon Centaur, a transparent OD, just like this one, so the Tumnus it’s a centaur in the book. Another centaur, but not the same as the Klon, it’s a Klon copy, get it?

    Hey Phil I bought some of those Fender tremolo springs. Put it and and played away. So today I took the tremolo arm out and all that came out was a tiny black ring. The other %95 of the spring must be embedded in the pot metal now? WTF? I'm afraid it's gonna pop out and take my out! What should I do.

    • @PhillipMcKnight
      @PhillipMcKnight  7 лет назад +1

      I think you are over tightening the term arm. I would recommend just enough tension to make arm not so lose. so one turn past being lose.

    You can get that "edge of breakup" effect with any half-decent touch-sensitive valve (tube) amp - turn the gain up on the amp and roll back the vol on the guitar. More intriguing is using it as a drive pedal with an overdriven amp. Love the way it add balls to the Strat. But would I buy it?

  • @t-boog2173
    @t-boog2173 5 лет назад +1

    Why doesn't ANY pedal company make a "Fender in a box" mini pedal with speaker sim? Just imagine a mini pedali version of the SansAmp American. Or a mini Boss FDR1 with switchable speaker sim. So you could place it behind your mini MIAB and before your mini reverb/delay. This way you could have a small pedalboard with ALL mini pedals and run it straight to P.A. or computer. Plus, you'd have the option to switch off the.speaker sim and go straight to amp. After all, the SansAmp American and FDR1 can make even a solid state amp sound nice. Not to mention, most MIAB pedals seem to be designed to work best with Fender amps.
    I challenge any pedal company to make a Fender in a box mini pedal with switchable speaker sim.(Surely it can be done)
