That’s all I throw is the Strike King bitsy jig paired with Strike king rage tail craw💪🏾 Great for bed fishing too!
I absolutely LOVE the Bitsy Bug! The biggest weak point of these jigs that I've found is that the hooks aren't very sharp. a few swipes with a good hook file & your problems are solved! I pair mine with a Charlie Brewer's 3" slider craw, a Z-Man TRD Bugz or TRD Craw, or a Strike King Rage Ned Craw. I'll also throw it as a finesse swim jig. get the white jig for a shad imitation or the green craw for a bream imitation & add a 3" Charlie Brewer's bass grub in pearl white & either green pumpkin or watermelon as the trailer. This little combo is strait up money!!!
Niccceeee!
Fellow peasant here 😂 jigs truly are a great tool. I learned by devoting a set number of months in which jigs were all I fished with. Leaving the rest of my tackle at home was key. Another thing that helped was to keep my finger on the line to help detect the bite.( Generally use a baitcaster) Lastly, learning in the warmer months is easier. The cold water bite feels less like a bite, a lot of times it just feels like the weight is off. Hope this helps, looks like you are off to a great start 👍
Great feedback! Thanks for watching, fellow peasant 😁
Been fishing with jigs for +50yrs. The Bitsy is go-to for winter river fishing. I pair it with a small craw and drag it around the deep holes.👍
I love jigs, they take up a large part of my tackle box but they’re not all I use.
Trim the Weed Guard it's that simple Honestly
Bitsy bug is great for river fishing in my area. One they just straight up catch fish and two they aren’t expensive so if you lose a few your not out a fortune. The only bad thing I have to say is they will rust out rather quickly.
Hard to beat the price on them for sure!
The bitsy bug goes hard buddy, it does have its place and time to fish it. I flip with it in the summer when its hot around laydowns and i catch alot swimming it back doing the Alabama shake. Use the strike king ned crawl as a trailer. And thats the juice!
Why do you whisper throughout the video :) Great looking pond - I too am trying to get some confidence in the jig.
I ask myself this too everytime I go back and edit 😅 habit I guess. Largemouth have large ears :) thanks for watching!!
I've never thrown a jig and I can't count how many times I have heard other fishing channels claim it to be the best for bass fishing. I just bought a few of these Bitsy Bugs a couple of weeks ago and for the price I figured I'll keep a couple in my bag. I will eventually give it a try but I mainly throw (for bass) weightless Texas rig or wacky rigged senkos, a drop shot or a ned rig. These rigs flat out work anytime of the year and my philosophy is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. This year I also started throwing the Hover Rig (See Matt Stefan's channel on this rig) and this past spring it did produce a few nice sized bass in my neighborhood dink pond. I live near Lake Norman in NC and there is a hot spot at Lake Norman that I fish during the cold water months so I can't wait to try the hover rig there, I'm betting it will do good.
Totally agree! Wacky & ned rigs are 90% what i throw typically!
BBS definitely work. Their black/blue and GP/blue in quarter oz ore pretty dependable if you need a smaller profile. I used to use them often, but I found a tungsten head that suits me even better.
If keitech ever decided to put a “normal gapped” hook one their model ones, that would be an incredible “smaller” sized jig. But you can’t go wrong with a burst and a small chunk, or even a small paca. And black/blue or GP/blue are the only colors u need. Sometimes their weed quarts could be a bit stiff, but if you trim a few strands out, there should be no reason to have a lack of confidence in a BB. And I’m not sponsored by them. lol
There is no conspiracy. If you can’t catch on micro jigs, you just need to be reborn. Lol
I really shouldn't be giving this secret up but i will for you. Take the bitsy bug cut the skirt even with the hook put a trd ned worm the short one, any color that matches your jig. Throw it in the water and work it like a ned rig drag it back to you and you won't believe the success you will have. When the bait stops the skirt falls down and looks amazing! Hell you will love it so much you will send me that Christmas box. Lol god bless
Lol i'll have to try that!
Bro I have caught so many on the bitsty bug, I have 3 or 4 and they worked so great in the spring
Can someone tell me what the typical bite feels like using a jig?
Ive always thought it felt just like a dull thump.
I don’t think I saw you cast 7ft from the bank the whole video. Maybe try umbrella casting. Working different depths. big bass love break lines and depth changes.
Covered it all, there's usually a hundred cast or so that don't make the final edit. Thanks for watching!
I clicked this video in hopes that someone else besides me figured out the TRUE Bitsy Bug Conspiracy. There IS a real conspiracy but it's not the way you think it might be. The Truth: There are 4 types of Bitsy Bug. The Bitsy Bug, The Bleeding Bitsy, and the Bitsy Flip are most well known. Each has a different hook inside and causes trailers to sit differently and the bait to fall differently. The 4th Bitsy is the one sold by Bass Pro Shops. Unfortunately, the Bitsy Bug you buy at Bass Pro is made with a smaller and cheaper hook than those you'll find in other shops and even Wal-Mart. Strike King and Bass Pro made a deal to sell the jigs with a cheaper hook at a lower price than anywhere else. The hookup ratio isn't as good and they bend out easier. I would never use braid for a Bitsy because it bends the hook out of the fish's mouth on the hookset. A shock leader of Fluorocarbon will get more bites especially since it's a finesse technique. It also let's you slingshot that light wire hook into the fish's jaw with more ease. The Bitsy Flip has a larger diameter hook which is better for braid and winching fish out of cover. It has a thicker weed guard too. Again, these subtle differences make a huge difference to a fish analyzing a small slow moving food item. The Bleeding Bitsy has 3D eyes on it. Something to keep in mind when you arr retrieving and imitating forage. Are you imitating a craw or a fish? 90% of my jig fishing is an attempt to imitate a bluegill. The ideal trailers for a Bitsy Bug are the Zoom Super Chunk Jr. or the 4 inch Yamamoto Double Tail Grub trimmed to fit. You want more movement in warm water and less movement in cold water. Now go forth with this new information and flourish, PEASANT!
Thank you for entrusting the peasants with this knowledge!
Forgot to mention, around 2019 or so, Strike King changed their skirt colors. I don't know if they got a new supplier or a mistake was made. Green Crawfish and Camo and watermelon are NOT the same colors as they were prior to 2019.
The bitzy bug is still too big to be honest, I used a skirted jig that is 1/16oz only when it’s very cold, and yes if don’t give the bait enough time to shine don’t blame the bait
Bitsy jig and a 2.8 keitech is money.
It's not a conspiracy they work and I have video proof !!! Baby rage bug trailer 👍🎣
Jigs are the truth. Looks like your rod is too high for a full hook set. Try dropping your rod to get a full swing. You got to hit them hard with jigs. The bitsy bugs have a thinner wire hook but still hit them. Medium fast if you’re swimming a bitsty bug medium heavy if you’re dragging. At least that’s what I use.
I have about a dozen jigs (because I’m an idiot who loves to waste money) and the bitsy bug is the only one I have some luck with
I'm thinking about scratching the itch and trying them again..
@@hunTN615 sometimes I cheat and put a big trd on them 😂 that probably works better than the bitsy bug
ANY bait you don't have confidence in, you should down-size....fish nothing BUT that bait, until you do final start building confidence, and then, "....be patience with it, build confidence, then spend more money....". *Personally, with what professional bass fishing has turned into, I'd rather see a pro catching fish with a cheap bait, and trying to sell me on it, rather than watch a "Professional-fisherman", who has a father that's an outright legend in professional bass fishing, fishing a tournament on a lake that he was literally raised on, "set a tournament record', while staring at a FFS screen "for an hour' (that's a quote) to catch a bedding bass that was never meant to be caught (and we wonder what's destroying our fisheries).* But, I digress....
A little tip on those BB's, from someone who's was in your shoes until VERY recently (probably still am to a degree). Pick yourself up some replacement skirts rom Dirty Jigs at Tackle Warehouse, in the standard colors (Green Pumpkin or black & blue), and replace the skirts on those Bitsy Bugs. The colors are better, and the skirt quality is INFINITELY better. Jigs. Made a BIG difference for me getting to learn jig fishing. I wish more companies made smaller jig sizes that weren't "finesse". Short of that, the only other advice I can give is not to take your fiber supplement until AFTER you're done fishing. Or, it will effect how you "work" the bait. And, fish can sense that stuff, you know....just sayin'.
Yeppers
crush smallies on the black/blue, I like the green pumpkin for all around. Best trailer is the Zman TRD crawlz or bugz. Cant tell you how many fish Ive caught on them. Try a dirty jigs 1/2oz pithchin jig in g/p with a g/p reactions innovations sweet beaver..
Will do!
