Her eyes are mesmerizing.
@ThatOne Um ok ...
I love your series about old Hollywood stars and how they were dressed. The amount of thought the stylists put into it back then is impressive.
As a soft natural I can 100% support everything aly says! So spot on. Described perfectly the WHY of everything! I love that she chose carol Lombard, and I am learning so much
She is a great example! Her face is very different from mine. But her figure is spot on. When she gives the clothing descriptions it only solidifies that I'm a Soft Natural. Very symmetrical clothing is not the best choice for me.
@@desic3274 me too. My face is narrower, slightly more delicate but still w strong jaw. Hence the too bold patterns are no good but , I do wear them in the right size and intricacy etc.
@@desic3274 the more I listen to Aly explain the more right I know the codes are for me... even though I have a sprinkle of gamine. That just gives me some wriggle room with my outfits.
@@HumanimalChannel I'm struggling with my type just for that: I thought I was a flamboyant gamine, but now I think I'm a soft natural... At least I know I'm not a romantic, l'm mostly "dry" lol
@@ZurditaDinamita I consider myself a kinda gamine SN! We all have our own thing going on to a degree, maybe not fitting neatly into a category. But choosing a main one can help
My Kibbe test insists in Soft Classic but I am 80% sure I am a Soft Natural, when considering what looks good on me.
Asymmetry, hair not too sleek or put together, nothing too fitted or tailored. If I put my hair back or have it too straight I fell like my face gets bigger even though nothing stands out particularly. Beach hair looks amazing on me, if I were a classic that wouldn't happen.
I also suspect I am a Soft Natural because when buying clothes, my whole life, I have always been trying to avoid the boxy look. I buy what doesn't make me look square and wide.
what kind of necklines do you like seeing on yourself, and which ones do you try to avoid?
IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE REMEMBERED HER GREAT STYLE CAROLE DRESSED GREAT CLASSIC STYLE
This video really helped me understand soft naturals!! It’s harder to understand certain characteristics of soft naturals when only looking at present day examples. This was perfect!!
I adore Carole Lombard! I think of her look as very versatile, from pajamas in Nothing Sacred to total glam in To Be Or Not To Be. It's so cool to find out she's a SN like me. My hair is naturally wavy & tousled & I never look good when I try to change it. But the smokey eye I just can't seem to pull off 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you Aly, I'm learning so much from this series!
Her body is so similar to mine! And I noticed that before you said she was SN! Very on point! Very true on SNs looking the best when they have some room in their clothing. Anything very tight makes me look bigger/bulkier, that slight extra room makes me look even slimmer than I am!
I thought I look bad in loose clothing. But I'm learning that if the waist is emphasised it will look good on me
@@em84c Not oversized but slightly roomy. The waist emphasis works only if barely there, not over emphasized. For example, tucking the t-shirt one one side or making a knot on the side to give only an impression of waist or using a jacket-sweater that is not boxy but a bit more tailored to give the impression of a waist (not too much, that would work for a TR for example but not a SN)
I'm supposed to be Romantic and quizzes affirmed this. However, my body looks MUCH like hers!!!! I'm only 5'2". I'm 52 years old. We even have very similar faces!!!Not the same eyes, though.
It's so rare to find videos about the 1930s style. Thank you for the beautiful fashion analysis of the lovely Carole Lombard. What a great actress she was! 🖤
She was the love of Clark Gable's life and he was devastated when she passed in that airplane accident.
That's sad
As a soft natural who loves wearing vintage style dresses, I always find myself coming back to this video to draw inspiration for my everyday outfits ❤
the matching silk suits look really contemporary!
What you said about width makes so much sense. I think I'm SN and even though I'm 170cm, some outfits can make me look wider without heels.
Can you do Esther Williams? She had broad shoulders and a strong body but was also feminine. Hollywood dressed her well.
Thank you for showing her. This was very useful for me as a SN. It was nice to be able to look at another SN with moderate legs and bust area. (Also good to see what didn’t work for her, whilst being in style back then.) It’s just a pity that there aren’t more pictures of her in her everyday life.
Love love love Carole Lombard. She was fantastic & hilarious in My Man Godfrey, and she was so beautiful.
I love this exploration of the 1930's designs and how SN were dressed and styled. The designs are beautiful and elegant. Very nice commentary on her outfits too, I really enjoyed this video. Would like to see Marlene D covered from this era.
A video about Kate Moss only, please!
One of my fave tops has a neckline that's like a v neck crossed with a sweetheart neckline. Kinda like tear drop. I always get compliments when I wear it. She wore a lot of necklines like this. I need to look for more tops like this.
Hi kizzabell, can you please Tell a/the time where an example of this is in the Video?
Could you give an example in this video please?
@Darja Drake I believe they are referring to the keyhole style visible at 6:51
@@ravstephs7662 I believe they are referring to the keyhole style visible at 6:51
@@zombiebear6172is it the picture in the middle at this time stamp? Or the far right? Thank you
Oh, I love Carol Lombard!
I'm glad you made this vid because she is not the stereotypical soft natural ....
I’m 5’2 and believe I’m a SN or SC. Originally I thought I was a romantic or TR but I now believe shorter SN exist.
I adore Carole, she was stunning! I love this series, your commentary is always interesting. Please, if you'd consider doing a Viv Leigh style analysis she is one of my favourite old Hollywood starlets
Just realized I am a soft natural, and I love this!!!♡
She is back ❤️💅🏼
Ohhmygod I was so excited when I saw this in my feed, your soft natural videos are right on time for me as I just figured out that is my kibbe type!
As a soft natural who loves glam I LOVE THIS VIDEO THANK YOU
You look so much like her!
I LOVE 💗 all your videos on classic Hollywood stars ✨!
I feel like your faces are very similar!!
Indeed
Oh my gosh you’re right!
Totally!
Omg, they both have eyes, a nose, and a mouth!
No paparazzi back then. Every image was controlled, planned, released by the movie studios.
Love your hairstyle and color. So pretty.
Hey Aly, could you please do a video on "nails for the body types" please??? I was just watching you "mom makeover" video and was really interested in your description of nail shape and colour for you gamine body type.
vivien leigh?
The woman at 4:09 is not Carole Lombard but Constance Bennett, they looked alike on occasions.
I would love to see these series about Brigitte Bardot. I adore her style.
Thank you Aly for posting this video was waiting for this for so long.
Great video! Too bad we didn't see her style change and evolve through the decades.
Fantastic series of videos Aly! Thanks you!
I've been waiting for this one! I KNEW she would be the soft natural!!!! 😁💕
I love this series of old days celebrities soooo much! Thank you aly
I love this series, it is fantastic! Can't wait for a TR syle icon:)
Hoping for Vivien Leigh.
@@miahan8988 Me too! Love her.
In one of my movie star books Carole Lombard is listed as only being 5'2"! Also (sorry) the actress at around 5.35 with the rope belt is Constance Bennett, stylised there very much in a similar fashion to Lombard. Really love your analysis of the old movie stars they were definitely styled to perfection!
I just googled Ms. Lombard’s height, and it’s reported as 5’6”
@@inabind416 It depends where you look. IMDB also has her at 5'2 most actresses of that era were very petite. A smaller height was preferred so they didn't tower over their leading men who often weren't very tall!
Carole Lombard what a beautiful woman
Loved it! Thanks for another great video, Aly :)
A Fine Frenzy
looks so similar to Her in "Fantastic beast and where to find them"
they even have the same height
Wow, new style icon…
Absolutely love this, Aly. I have bookmarked EVERY ONE of your Soft Natural videos. Your expertise and gentle-yet-educated manner is excellent for all of us that want to be more refined and sophisticated, and yet retain our individuality and personal character. David Kibbe has changed my life-- but I am still having to peel away so many beliefs and presuppositions I've lived with all my life! I wish all the Soft Naturals of the world could just unite and dress each other.
Please review Olivia de Havilland😍
THIS VIDEO IS WONDERFUL BUT ALSO I WAS ABLE TO DETRMINE FOR SURE MY BODY TYPE THANK YOU
Ally Art, you are The Best!!! I first learned of Kibby from you years and years ago and now even though lots of people make videos about it… you are The Best in SOO many ways! You’re a fantastic teacher, love your vision and attention to detail and your creative mind! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!
Carole Lombard's favorite costume designer was Travis Banton. The photo at 4:06 shows Constance Bennett not Carole Lombard.
Soft natural here..this was incredibly helpful to get tips from seeing an example as beautiful as her🙌
I LOVE LOVE this series (and your whole channel hihi) I love Audrey Hepburn and your style review video was amazing ! can you do a style review of a Gamine celebrity?
I love this video! I´m SN and this is very inspiring, thank you!
I am a big fan of carole lombard u dont know how much i hv been waiting for this...i desperately want her hairstyle!
Can u make video on sharon tate?
I appreciate the yip about adding height with heels when adding whiter details on top. I am pear-shaped but can look like an inverted triangle if I wear wider details on top, especially sleeves, if the bottom isn’t balanced.
This was amazing. Could you please do Dorothy Dandridge and Ava Gardner?!
Great series Aly. Please consider doing Diahann Carrol.✨
I love Carole Lombard!
Thanks!
Ohhh finally found the video! I am a soft natural exactly what you just described!!! Would love to share my pic so that u can see how good research u hve done on us, soft naturals ❤️ lots of love nd hugs 💐
I think the photo shown at 5:37 may actually be Constance Bennett. Beautiful dress either way!
THANK YOU! I think actual pop culture needs to address her more as a defining Icon of her times
Please do a video on eyebrow shapes and which one would match different face shapes
I would like if at some point you could make a video about Scarlet Johansson
I would love it!
I'd love a video about Clara Bow.
I have been so confused trying to figure out my type after the test it came out ats natural, but then apparently there is no natural anymore? only FN or SN. Happy to say that after watching many many (many) videos on it I finally got from watching this video after the one for Jane Birkin. If there's no more naturals then I'm definitely a flamboyant natural! yay thank you, this series really helped 🙏
Some of the pics here are not all Carole Lombard. For instance, at 5:33, that is Constance Bennett
woww !!!! I really love the direction u got now with body types and icons . THIS IS IT !!!!!! And speaking about IT :)) can u make a Body type clip about Clara Bow .. or maybe Louise Brooks?
she looks almost like my mum! such a beauty!!
How did you come up with Carole Lombard as an SN? Did David Kibbe assign her or did you figure it out? I really enjoyed your analysis and found some very helpful tips, as an SN.
I would love to see a video on Sharon Tate.
You should do Mae West style review!
Clothes were much more beautiful, interesting and high quality back then.
I looooove this series 🔥🔥🔥. Btw: She is looking similar to Marlene Dietrich, isn‘t she?
OMG I've never seen this actress before but I feel like she and I look strikingly similar - except I might consider myself flamboyant natural. This video was very useful for determining what styles might look good on me :D and makeup too! I love that actresses and actors had such unique looks back in the day.
A video about historical Flamboyant Naturals please! If there were any...
I think Aly covered Jane Birkin who's FN.. but yes, I would appreciate a video for a FN woman from an older era.
Dear Aly, could you also help us with color palettes like cool winter, soft spring and so on? ♥️
Actress Diane Kruger should play her in a biopic!!! They were so beautiful back then, imho.
Elegant
hi aly!!
I wonder what happens to those small women who were assigned as pure gamine in the past, who by height would be considered soft gamine but still have strong features (Edith Piaf or Pat Benatar maybe for example)
Flamboyant gamine it sounds like ???
@@shirin9452 not always, compare a FG to a SN, and even though they both may be small or moderate in size and both have strong features, the SN usually looks taller. Their yin and yang are kind of reverses of each other. (FG- yin bone structure/yang undercurrent, SN- yang bone structure/yin undercurrent) i thought I was a FG because of my height and strong features but i now know that I am a SN because my bones are wider than that of a FG
my birthday twin
Can you do a video on very prominent eyes, I’m not sure if I should enhance or make them smaller?
Hi Aly! Great video! Just so you know, the three Pinterest links are not working, so could you maybe fix them?
A Video about Katharine Hepburn please
The photo standing with the cigarette that you have featured twice is Constance Bennett not Carole. She is another beautiful blonde of that era, she was in Topper among other films.
Can you do a video about jewellery and about piercings for the body types? And can you maybe do a video about tattoos for the body types? (sizes, style, body parts). Thank you!
Would just love for you to do my make up to look like a famous bygone Hollywood star 💫
Are there any brands that work especially good for SN?
Aly Art can you do body types on BAYWATCH actresses?
You are so cute blonde russian barbie💃
I've never heard of her... Till now. She looks like ME!!!!! Facial features and especially her BODY!!! I'm supposed to be Romantic type. Two quizzes and a typist all said Romantic. Im 5'2". Same coloring as her. Face is same shape. Lips same. Nose same. Hair texture same.... I'm really starting to wonder. I sure FEEL soft natural in spirit and style.
I probably am a soft natural deep autumn... Have you got any example of celebrities with the same combination as me?
Poderia ter tradução em português - Brasil 😔
I'm a petite soft natural and I feel like I can borrow some theatrical romantic lines.
Though I'm a bit taller, I'm part Mongolian, and all these look comfortable and familiar to me: I'm sturdy from the front, tallish, but from the side I look pretty slender, long-legged, with a bust and a flat behind: Carole's outfits, though she's shorter, all look "right" to me. Thank you so much, these videos are so beautiful.
Aly, Please oh PLEASE tell me why virtually ALL wig makers nowadays seem to feel that it is absolutely necessary to put 2 or 3 inches of back or at least dark brown roots on a very blond nair to makeih
it look "natural"...sorry for the choppy editing. My Roots ARE white blonde. Why put an unnatural color on my hair to make it look "natural"? HELP!
Hi Aly, I was wondering if I could get your help on something. I keep getting soft classic or a form of romantic whenever I take the tests but I’m over 5’10” would that make me a soft dramatic?
If height is the only thing pulling you elsewhere then maybe the original results you're getting are right
Could you please message me so I can understand what body type I am? I’m something dramatic I think.
I watch all of your videos! ❤️
