I play this work with Hauptwerk, with the sample from the Cavaillé-Coll de Caen, it is already amazing ! But, of course, a real organ is incomparable, and Saint-Ouen organ too ! I must hear it once in my life, it is in my country. Jacques, from France.
Nearly 50 years ago, while singing at RIVERSIDE CHURCH, in NYC, FREDERICK SWANN played this and I was blown away by it! Since then, I always wanted to hear it played at St Ouen...now I have!! Does not get any better!! OMG. TERRIFIC!!! THANK YOU! JB
That E-natural in the climax. To be that one chamade right then: singing your lungs out, filling the space with your glory. (spoken like a trombone player lol) Love the thumbnail photo. Someone should fly a drone all over this instrument to reveal all her unseen beauty.
Wouldn't you just love to wonder around this awesome space at sunset...listening to this, smoke a big bowl and a bottle of good wine to go with it....hell yeah! I'd never be the same...Peace to all from Austin, Texas
About one thing I wonder: Why has the "apparition de l'église éternelle" have to be such a gloomy piece? Actually it should be something heavenly and happy, joyful etc.
I played this on my Master's recital. Glorious

❤
Excellent!!!!
If i was to hear this in person at st ouen, it would have to be in total darkness to appreciate the dynamic sound of the organ.
That's one way of thinking about it, but listening to this piece whilst admiring the beautiful architecture is also an amazing experience
@@julianmatthews5785 I did read the height from floor to ceiling of st ouen is about 40 metres or 110 feet, is that correct and 135 metres long
@@aussiemale059 yes, the ceiling is 33 meters and it's length is 137, longer than Notre dame, although the biggest cathedral in France is Amiens
@@julianmatthews5785 Thanks 😉

If you listened to this in the dark you leave yourself open to potential temporary mental health problems. Very scary.

A fear of sanity, perhaps?
