@@originaltommy The pedal Contre Bombarde in 32' I believe is God's voice! One question for you, Do you happen to know if there is a Houptwerk sample set of the Saint Ouen-Rouen Cavaille-Coll organ?
Oh, lovely. Nice tempo, another toccata that is often played too fast. And of course at St Ouen....where i could just get up there with a duster! the magnificence of Cavaille-Coll.
The choice of stops used here in the Minuet brings out a side of this organ that some may not have heard before - I like it very much. I adore this masterpiece instrument of Cavialle-Coll. Of all his organs I have heard, this one is my personal favorite.
I have never heard a more beautiful and powerful version of this masterpiece, the tempo is perfect, unlike other, more popular performances in which too high a speed destroys the effect. The power of these organ is astonishing, even when listening with headphones. The peak of my dreams is to hear something like this live. Thank you for outstanding performance
It would be difficult ti imagine it being played any better. Mme Morisset-Balier sets a sensible tempo that doesn't get lost in the acoustic, enhanced by her registration and her recording engineers to give a top shelf performance.😊
Magnifique. Quel orgue !
Wow I think together with the 32" Contrebombarde from the great organ of Notre Dame de Paris one the most impressive sounds! I would like to hear it live in the church or with very good speakers! Unfortunately I can hear it only with headphones
This is simply breathtaking & brings me in the mindset of Phantom Of The Opera type of music. The last part of this piece I've heard before, but to hear the whole rendition of this Great Masterpiece. Kudos to the artist who composed this musical piece, and those 32-foot pipes, and that Rumble affect keeps you on the edge of your seat till the end...
@ marie balier I would love to hear this played in person and feel the power of this organ, also the acoustics, then i will appreciate why organists love this instrument.
@@julianmatthews5785 I do listen very regularly with other organists as well and get my sennhieser headphones on for many hours, but i want to when its safe to travel to see and hear as well.
@@aussiemale059 You definetly should! Its the most amazing place ever it’s incredible, for me anyway. I’m a huge fan of st Ouen in Rouen as you might be able to tell!
Waltzing on a Cavaille Coll... I like it. That Toccata at the end though is pretty much freaking WAR MUSIC if you ask me. Or at the very least an absolute monster of a Grand Finale. Until I saw wbuitorgel's "Rouen Toccata - St. Ouen, Rouen - Composite" video I very rarely listened to church organs. I mostly listened to BAND organs, most often Wurlitzer(North Tonawanda, New York) but also those from Ruth & Sohn(Waldkirch, Black Forest). After watching that I pretty much started listening to more church organ music and am now hooked... That "Rouen Toccata" from wbuitorgel's video is probably so far the grandest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. Nevertheless this is an absolute masterpiece. Mechanical music generally is!
I love that you have it uploaded here... Is there a CD to purchase anywhere, I have looked online and come up with not a lot... But then understandably a lot of results are in French
@@davehollands It's probably from the CD ''Orgue Et Trompette À L'Abbatiale Saint-Ouen De Rouen'' There is the entire Suite Gothique as well as many other pieces.
I love the power of those 32' Contre Bombardes in the pedals!
One of the most astonishing sounds on Earth!!!

💯
I love this too
Just Wow. Not bad for an organ that’s 133 years old. The sweetest Celeste and the most powerful reeds.
Oh, lovely. Nice tempo, another toccata that is often played too fast. And of course at St Ouen....where i could just get up there with a duster! the magnificence of Cavaille-Coll.
That pedal division is so vibrant! So clear! magnifique!!

Spectacular ! Nothing like Cavaille-Coll
Dark and angelic at the same time

I love how threatening and mysterios it sounds at 12:26 . Thats my favorite part and it only sounds so good in this recording!
Such an intense all enveloping majestic sound. Goose bumps galore.

What an organ !!! Maybe the greatest ever ? And so nice playing + music too.

What a thrilling sound!
Wonderfully played and great choice of registers! I love the slower tempo and attention to reverb. So much clarity!
What a fantastic rendition! Thanks for uploading❤

Geweldig orgel en organiste! Perfecte combinatie!
It's frightening.
I've seen somewhere a comment that it reminds you of a barely caged beast, I can hear why
It's very beautiful!
Stunning !
Aristide Cavaille-Coll would have fit right in with rock music 100 years later. This one and St. Sulpice are my two favorites. Such power.

This toccata always makes me think of silent film villains
Formidable
I Love the toccata, Good job!!
Magistral !
Where did you get this nice picture of the organ?
Grossartig!
That croak of the 32' just clobbers me.
Do you know when this recording was made?
Yes, it was recorded in 2009
