I loved Dear Virgil, but he most likely would have played this too fast. Gert used perfect tempo especially in such great acoustics!

His talent is undoubtable. My favorite organ I've heard for this music is the Cavalle at Rouen.
It's possible he might be the best in the world playing any organ, small to cathedral sized organs with keyboard pedals and all. I could be wrong. Nevertheless, he's a rarity

Always appreciate the proper tempo, maybe even a touch slower here, on a beautiful old organ and registered to perfection.
Ondanks dat het orgel niet geschikt is voor het latere Romantische Genre, weet je het goed te beheersen en te bespelen en zo geschikt te maken dat het toch mooi in balans is. Knap hoor.
P.S.: If by all means, you prefer to play this on an instrument from the late baroque period, please do so on the Christian-Müller organ of the protestant St. Bavo church in Haarlem: one less manual but no less than two 32-foot pedal stops, rendering to this piece the sonorous quality that it deserves and requires!

wat een rommelige uitvoering, vooral binnen het Priere klopt het voor geen meter. Afblijven van dat soort stukken
Dag Ton, ik vraag me af of je het orgineel wel eens gehoord hebt. Want als dat zo was, dan had je geweten dat deze organist hem heel dicht benaderd.

Definitely the music belongs to this church with its majestic acoustics but certainly not to this organ in its current condition: it sounds way too thin to even remotely suit the music, no wonder as this is post-romantic music played on a late-baroque instrument, meaning an anachronism of over one hundred years! Try again after adding several 32-foot foundation stops and at least one 32-foot reed. I keep wondering why this was never done, however I suppose it will take another 100 years for organ puritans to understand that such is an enhancement and not a detriment to the instrument, just look to the much older Schnitger-organ of St. Jacob´s in Hamburg, featuring both 32-foot foundation AND reed stops, unspeakably adding to the instrument´s sonorous majesty ... Otherwise, look to the Garrels-organ in Maassluis, since many years featuring a 32-foot reed and listen to the difference it makes ... After all, it was none less than J.S. Bach who requested a proper deal of "Gravitas" from the many organs he was asked to approve of in his lifetime: Soli Deo Gratia!

I think it's exactly the right tempo. I like the dancing character of the menuet. Sometimes, it's played like a race, which I don't really like...
