We are doing better now, I actually just finished my bachelors and now going to get a masters as well. Its not easy, since I had to learn so much. I was never allowed to have a bank account or a phone/Computer and even friends, so its all new for me. And my son obviously has scars from the experience, random outbursts and violence against me, his sisters or other kids. He is in full time therapy and I hope with him turning 8 next year, to finally be able to get him in school, he wasnt able to, since his social skills are really bad.
After the birth of our second baby I wasnt allowed to leave the house anymore, so I (and the children) spent all time alone locked in at home, until I fled, so 4 years with no sun, in darkness since I wasnt even allowed to open the windows and curtains, I deeply regret what happened, especially for my son, to know he practically had no childhood, never played with other kids, never been to a playground etc. Everyday filled with fear how his dads mood this day was and witnessing me getting beaten up. At the end he tried to get in between and tried to protect me, which resulted in him getting hurt really bad, but his only concern was if I was safe, that broke me and was the reason I finally mustered the strenght to get out .
I still cant believe how I got in this situation, it happened so slowly from love-bombing, to isolating me from everyone until I had noone left until the real abuse after the second pregnancy.
When I met my Ex-husband I was just 17 (he was 40, but lied about his age until the marriage certificate was signed) , my parents where really harsh as well and I never had acess to phones or the internet, my time was basically at home or school and I didnt really have friends there as well, since I didnt know about what was "In" and was never allowed to do anything. He was the first person to show interest in me, telling me how incredible and "mature" I was and wanting to spent time with me, ironically he wanted to "help" me get away from my parents since they were so strict.
Sorry I didnt want to write such a long text, but I kinda had to get it out. @@saki2955

Mr and Mrs comes from Mister and Mistress . There's also Mistrum shortened to Mm, Mistrum or without the suffix would be Mist if you prefer, which is the gender neutral form of Mister and Mistress.
As Er is a masculine suffix
And Ress is a feminine suffix
Rum is the gender neutral one
    Eg. Hunter and huntress
And no Mistress does not mean woman of the master as far as I'm aware, it's just the female version of Mistrum
The word woman does not come from the term "of men" as that is just misogynistic propaganda.
The words man and woman come from the Germanic roots of wermann and wifmann (pronounced weef-man)
    Wermann - man
    Wifmann - woman
Man was the gender neutral term of a person when both wifmann and wermann was still in use.
Wermann meaning male person were the origins for words like werewolf - plainly meaning Man Wolf.
We just got lazy in our language and shortened words as our language evolved.
Girl was a term for a child who hadn't reached puberty regardless of sex or gender

Ok, I know no one asked, but the language one is really funny since they're just wrong about everything. Starting off with "amen," it's just a Hebrew word meaning 'let it be done'. In Hebrew its not pronounced as "a-men", the word "men" has nothing to do with that word. The female/male one is another easy debunk. 'Male' comes from the Latin 'masculus' which was later shortened in old French to masle, and then the s was dropped leaving male. Female comes from an entirely different Latin word, 'femina'. Shortened in old French to 'femelle'. The two aren't related. Man/woman is a long explanation, but put simply: Man used to be gender neutral in its proto-germanic origin literally meaning person, male or female. Woman comes from the term wifman, later dropping the f and leaving wimman, and it's spelling changed to the woman we know today. Man (gendered) used to be werman, but unlike wifman it lost the entire beginning and was shortened to just 'man' following the Norman conquest. And human comes from the Latin humanus, so again, unrelated. A simple Google search could have told them that but weaponizing ignorance is more conservative style anyway

Speaking of silencers: Outside of video games and hollywood, "silenced" guns are still pretty loud. And rather you want to call them "silencers" or "sound suppressors," really doesn't matter I don't think; the first of its kind was literally called a silencer. Just don't call the magazine a clip.
And yeah, the gun culture we have here in the States is pretty absurd. I mean, I like guns but that's only 'cause I think guns are cool.

This video made me want to take a moment to be grateful for my parents. Sure, they have their moments, like the time they said we shouldn’t hate on JK Rowling, we should have a conversation where we say our opinion while not telling her nicely why she’s wrong because that’s mean. Despite that one time, their relationship is the healthiest one I’ve ever seen and I’m glad I grew up with it. They take turns watching the kids and making dinner, they both have their own jobs and personal time with their own friends, while also spending time as a family. They don’t argue often, and when they do, they work it out like adults. They support my bi ass and make a welcoming environment for my friends and siblings, they’ve supported me and my siblings with our various mental health issues, and they promote healthy eating in a safe way. They genuinely love eachother, despite grey hairs and getting old, and they’re eachother’s best friend. Seeing straight people like my parents restores my faith in humanity (other than the JK thing).

In the US, it depends on state. Some states have commonlaw marriage after 5 years, some 10, and my state doesn't recognize it at all. You are single here until you get married and if you say have kids, they make it a pain to share assets because the state just wants you to get married

The overprotective dad thing is fcking annoying. My dad doesn’t know I’m gay and whenever I go out he’ll ask my mom if I have a secret bf that I’m seeing which upsets me because I never lie about where I am or who I’m with and hate being accused. Also whenever he meet my male friends he’ll do the scary dad thing (he probably thinks I’m with them but pretending we’re friends) and it makes shit awkward because I dont like them like that and they dont like me that way! We are just friends. It’s why I hate when people (especially men) say things like “guys and girls can’t be just friends” like some of us have platonic friendship with guys so stop trying to scare my friends away. I’m 21 ffs. Then relatives always find it so adorable when dads are over protective but it just feels weird and invasive.

As a girl to a father that makes these casual gun jokes it really does make me anxious more than feeling loved and protected like I think they want to portray
Even when I came out as gay my father said it was only fair he would threaten a girlfriend if not a boyfriend. This was not something I wanted to hear and definitely not in a society where I would be called slurs or potentially threatened on the streets to hold a partners hand. It would be nice if the parents actually took the time to see how their daughters feel about the mysoginistic "jokes" and all the better if they stopped completely

19:50 I think something that is different in the US to what we experience here in Australia (/NZ/UK) is that marriage is hugely not viewed as a legal ceremony, but a religious covenant and massive social change. So saying that it's just a legal doesn't apply to the mindset of the people writing these (very scary) post-marriage mindset posts as to them there is a huge amount the changes besides just "having a party and eating some cake" haha! For a huge amount of people in the South, which is where I grew up, marriage is seen as ENTIRELY different to the single life in that you are supposed to be a. living separately and not sharing finances, b. not physically intimate and c. having a very shallow social/emotional relationship in comparison to married life. For many people, and likely those making these posts, married life is a HUGE difference with an all new set of social expectations/rules that many were totally unprepared for, which can leave many people feeling disoriented, dissatisfied or trapped, especially if they marry young or without understanding which is again, very popular in the US, much more so than in other Western countries.I remember genuinely thinking growing up that marriage was the be all end all of my life, and that marriage would fundamentally change who I was as a person (and I have been encouraged to and therefore idealised getting married very young!) I know you said you didn't really understand why it's seen as such a big deal, but to someone like me who is Australian but grew up in the Southern US, this difference is REALLY clear! I love your videos and enjoyed this one very much, thanks for posting!

21:20 my husband and I dated for 8 years before getting married and lived together for just over 2 and a half years. I didn't expect anything to change after we got married. We viewed it as a formality for our parents sake who are both older but we were already very commited to building a life together. However following our marriage I felt closer to him, more connected than before and he said he noticed the same. I think maybe the significance of making that ceremonial commitment to each other meant way more to us than we could have predicted.
So when these people act like being married is a burden, I'm like.... then why bother? Like marriage is not easy, it's a commitment that requires a lot of work and effort like any relationship. It shouldn't be taken lightly... so why not respect that commitment you made to your partner? It's really bizarre to me.
And to be fair, I do not think marriage is required to have a fulfilling and committed relationship. I just noticed a change in my relationship that I didn't expect following our wedding.
