piet you have come a far way your content is just getting better keep on pushing
I’m on the list for an S die but I did buy a universal de cap after shooting a prs match. All your brass gets ejected on the ground and depending on the match you could have who knows what inside the neck or on the shoulder. I found it better to just de cap and tumble then resize so you know your not going to damage your FL sizer.
Short action customs dies have had the ability to decap, size, and mandrel in one pull for a while now. It’s also extremely modular, however it’s very expensive
@@chuckkuang91 They aren’t cheap, but they work incredibly well. You can also buy only the parts you need, not an entire set of things.
Man these die sets are super nice, Would you be able to make a reloading video? I am new to it but want to learn more and your videos are very informative and easy to understand.
How do you like the manners tcs compared to a chassis
I haven watched the video yet, but since you are on the subject, is it better to learn how to reload on the fly, by buying reloading kit piece by peice according to the steps of reloading or should we learn it foward and backwards before we purchase an intire kit.I'm sure purchasing your book will be step 1 and then probably a tumbler or something. Thanks.
Love your show, though!
Piet became one serious content creator! Well done man. Maybe build a course on content creation?
I was so excited to get that email last week!! Then I realize the 6mm sizes are not out yet, dang it! I am ready to get the 6CM as soon as released. I am all about saving steps, as long as it will also produce good results. I just added a mandrel die a few months ago to get even better neck tension repeatability, but I will gladly give up the cost of that die to be able to size and mandrel in 1 step.
Plus, as usual with Area419, I expect the results will be even better than what I have now.
Piet, got a cool challenge I am going to be putting together. Likely in the spring. If you make it to the US and want to give it a run, let me know. Would be great to see you run this. KYL rack at 500 yards. 12 down to 2 inches. Start standing, then drop to prone. after each plate is hit, before shooting at the next smaller, you have to change position to each of the 4 places on my PRS Skills stage prop. Then finish back in prone on the other side. Those last 2 targets, the 4 and 2 inch, after moving around quickly and getting the heart rate up, are certainly tricky!! Doing it for the fun of it and challenging myself to get on target faster after moving position. Figure I will make it into a challenge and have some other people out to give it a go. May try to get some swag for the best finishers. Still working the details, but it won't be official until spring when the time gives us longer days and the weather is not as cold!!
Just thought I would let you know, if for some chance you will be around the middle of the country in the next months! Have a great Christmas, and I look forward to getting my own S die and testing it out. Very excited about this product!!
Just get the M series. I have it in 6 creedmoor and 308. Money well spent!!
@matt-ts8cx Yeah, I have been thinking on that for a while.
When I get a Zero, I will for sure.
But currently, I focus on 1 caliber. So changing the internals is not a high priority.
I would like to compare this S to my current set up. See how they do.
And, of course, the 6mm dies were not on the first batch, lol. Still waiting for that notification!! 🤣
But, good to know the M is worth the investment. I want to get a Zero this year or next, and go hybrid head to use them.
Happy to know they are all they are marketed to be!!
Have a great 2025!
Hey Pete, if you’re using the M series or F-series die to do your decapitating when are you doing your cleaning? You’re not running dirty brass up into your die are you? Are you cleaning your brass with the primers still in it?
Exactly what I was wondering. I deprime on a cheap Lee press. I don't even want that grime on my Zero press
Piet, thanks for the video! Curious where in this process do you anneal? Can you anneal before you decap the primers?
Yip bud. Annealing is the first step in most ppls reloading process. And you absolutely anneal with spent primers, nothing happens
Area 419 is da boss!
I am a bit lost
No bushing in this die
Is neck die necessary before this FL operation ?
Thanks for you video
No this die sizes down the neck and then when you pull the mandrel back through it sets the neck tension.
@@airenthusiast2000 not just the neck, it's a full length sizing die
@Ooogs-h1i Correct. He was asking if it uses bushings. I suppose I said it incorrectly what I meant to say was it sizes the neck down a bunch and then pulls the appropriate size mandrel back through.
I heard you mention 223 trainer. Is your 223 trainer the same barrel length and barrel profile as your standard match gun? Or do you think that matters? I assume the action may be the same if the barrel length and profile differ.Let me know your thoughts.
Hey Piet, great info. Question on Mandrel vs expander ball. I feel the expander ball being pulled through adds to brass stretch. That is why I switched to mandrels. Does this make any sense?
100% agreed, same here
If the mandrel sets the neck tension by being pulled out after the FL sizing, and not being pushed in after FL sizing like one would normally do it, is there then really any benefit to the mandrel or does it in effect become an “expander ball” because the neck tension is set by pulling not pushing the brass?
@@hugobakker8450 Sorry Hugo, but I am confused by your question. The Expander Ball does it's job as it is coming OUT of the brass, thereby pulling/stretching the brass. The Mandrel is inserted after the neck has been squeezed down by the sizer, with the exp ball removed. I am trying to avoid that pulling/stretching action on my brass.
@@tommyj7087 at 4:36 he explains that the mandrel on the way out, expands the case neck. Does that not work then exactly like an expander ball because it pulls on the way out? How does the mandrel size the neck on the way out? It can’t be by pushing down? It must be by pulling? I am just now starting to research a bit more about mandrels and bushings for sizing so I am not exactly sure how this die does its sequence, but if Piet would care to explain the effects it has on the down and up stroke it could help my little brain make sense of it 😂
@@hugobakker8450 Got it. Now I understand what you were asking. I do not have these die sets, but it still looks like their mandrel is really an "expander rod" that is still acting on the neck on the way out. Still, IMHO, stretching the brass as it goes. I can't afford Area419, but if I did, I would use the mandrel with the smallest dimension and still come back with the APW or 21st Century Expander Mandrel to the desired neck dimension.
Do you have a video of importance of neck tension. I don’t understand the process of finding the perfect neck tension for rifle.
I go with 2-3 thousands pretty much just like my 2 thousands shoulder bump.
But the actual number doesn’t matter as much as that every piece is the same. It’s a small and final detail if your chasing a very precise load. But if all your loads in one lot have varying neck tension they will also have varying pressures (yea the difference will be very small). So depending on what your goals are with you loads it most likely is a negligible difference.
I would love to hear an updated process of your reloading list, since you're doing this "3 steps in 1" when do you anneal your brass? I would assume it would look something like, wash, size, anneal, prime and load?
I was thinking exactly the same thing?
Video on updated reloading process coming in January
@@IMPACTSHOOTING awesome! I myself just recently ( 1 year deep ) have gotten into reloading and just recently started competing in PRS matches and your videos have been a great help to get me goin. Love the content and can’t wait to see what’s all to come!
Bud you should always anneal before Resizing. Doesn't make sense to anneal after Resizing as the purpose of annealing is to release the stress of the brass before Resizing. Hope that helps
Piet! Area 419 stuff looks like some awesome top of the line and innovative stuff, and therefore commands the top prices.
What do you recommend for intermediate reloaders? Not a beginner or “budget” setup but rather what would you suggest that is 80% as good as the area 419 setup at 50% the cost? Does such a combination exist?
Its hard to say given that I dont know the US prices that well. However Ive always had solid results with Redding and recently RCBS matchmaster dies too. Dies to avoid more importantly. Lee, Whidden & Hornady Iva had some bad results with.
It really will come down to what you want to get out of it. I am running Redding dies currently. Excellent results. I will be getting this S series, just to combine size and mandrel dies into 1 step. I dislike wasted time. Most of the name brands can give good results, as long as your process is solid. A good press is key to this as well. I have a few videos up about my learning process as I get further into the reloading game and the PRS game. But, if I can help, I will be happy to give whatever advice I can.
Start with a good, solid press and learn the full process very well.
@@IMPACTSHOOTING that helps a lot actually, thank you. Also! Super cool that you replied to me! I’m a little star struck. Love what you do, God bless!
Do you sell them….looking for a 6GT set…

Remember your slomo panning shots mustn't stop, they must fade out while moving. Because of the music you chose, even more so.
Good afternoon, Would you like to make a RUclips film about hunting where you talk about how much you harvest from nature that is enough for the family? Nutritional value of different kind of meat from animals. For example, one kilo of Canadian moose might have more nutritional value than one kilo of rabbit. Is nutritional value of meat a factor in deciding what your going to hunt? I live in The Netherlands, a small country where hunting isn't a big thing or a possible lifestyle. I'm curios to know how people that get there food from nature think about this. Learning the skill of cleaning a animal, also in the field, that is also unknown. I wonder how people go from zerro to having this skill. Kind regards, Frank

"Big box manufacturer dies neck tension varies wildly . . . " Piet, you need to look up what "Wildly" means. Let me help; to a ridiculous or extreme degree. Example: "He has a tendency to exaggerate wildly".
Area 419 dies (as with their other products) are nice kit, but there is a lot more that goes into getting consistent results. They've essentially made a nice expander ball full sizing die. And in the interest of presenting all sides here, there are many who would say pulling the sizing ball/mandrel through the neck is less desirable than pushing a mandrel or bushing because the case is no longer supported on the sides when pulling the case away from the die and may result in greater neck runout than sizing the neck during the downward stroke where the sizing occurs at the very end of the ram travel where the case is nearly fully supported by the die.
I’m sure this is a wonderful die, however it has never been mentioned by anyone on a video, or on Area 419’s website, if this is a bushing die. If you can’t set your neck with a bushing, I would definitely pass on this. I also am not a fan of having to buy a “set” of mandrels. Why can’t I just buy the mandrels I want? This seems to be a thing with Area 419, where you have to buy a “set” of things, whatever they may be, you can’t just buy the ones you really need. I will stay with SAC Modular Bushing Sizing Die. It uses a bushing, that you can buy whichever ones you want. It also uses mandrels, that you can buy just what you need. I just do not understand Area 419’s thought process on this.
It is not a bushing die. The mandrel each die ships with will set the neck tension .002" under bullet diameter. The idea is to get rid of having to mess with bushings. The downside is if you neck turn brass it will possibly not work.
That’s S series die and Dcapping
Gay Tiger... nice
🌈🐅 🤣
Would these work with really dirty brass shot out of an AR15 with a suppressor?????
I’ll tell ya these Apple products suck. You would think by now that they would have voice dictation down pat.
This channel is just commercials now. Getting as bad as ultimate reloader
Oh no! Hes showing us products we might want! How could he?! I totally get it man, I love being in the dark about products related to a topic I care about and I for SURE hate getting more info on these products. My self control is so bad that if I dare watch a video about a product I have to buy it, I cant simply just say no! Idk how I will ever financially recover from videos like these.
@Nixqy Ahhh another master of sarcasm, I love your work 🤣
@eggbert191 , to find my last product video you have to scroll back 5 months. So yeah your opinion is completely irrelevant and wrong. ✌🏼
@@IMPACTSHOOTING Same to you sir! Keep up the videos, I personally at least like knowing what's out there.
@IMPACTSHOOTING except you mention sponsored products every video but let's just ignore that. So many channels are just about sponsors now. Gavin being one of the absolute worst. You're well on your way.
