      My guy, you really don't want to do that. Not saying you're an idiot that can't keep a consistent temp with a dial. But I'd much rather use something that can't possibly get hot enough to heat up the case heads. Be safe out there.

    I’ve been eyeing off that press for a month or so! For drying brass, I use a bucket of methylated spirits and a frying basket - no residue, and it’s dry within a minute or two. I also have a bench magnet on which I tap my brass before annealing - stops any stray tumbling media pins going into the AMP.

    I would also recommend the Dillon xl750 to do your brass prep. I do my 6x47 lapua about 600 cases in about 15 mins. That is resized and primed!. Then the 419 press to seat the bullets. It use to take me a day and a half to reload 600 rounds. Now...I can do it all in about 2 hours. That is prep, resize, powder and seating. If i add in annealing, its about another 40 mins and trimming adds more.

    • @shaneclark5596
      @shaneclark5596 2 года назад

      600 in 15 minutes? Shit. I can only prep 1000 5.56 in an hour. You must really be working that handle. Sometimes I wish the machine was ambidextrous so I could switch sides.

    O I use the Frankford arsenal intelidropper. It's a good unit got the money. I'll recycle the first 5 charges I've found the first 2 occasionally inconsistent. I have to turn off the AC in the reloading building when I'm doing powder because the air moving by the fan messes up the scale. I've also heard really good things about the rcbs charge master my buddy uses that one.

    I don't care what it is guns, reloading gear, shooting gear or hunting gear there's always that next thing you're 100% correct on that!! LOL I tinker with the competition thing PRS and 3 gun and love shooting long range along with hunting so that means I shoot several thousand rounds a year especially in handguns and AR's so anything that saves some time is worth every penny because I like shooting much more then reloading. Definitely a pretty cool list I've tried the AMP press and it's freakin sweet and is the next thing on my buy list. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

    I would like a video on the autotrickler. I had been considering buying another lowish end auto charge dispenser set a bit below my desired charge and a high end scientific scale then manually trickling the last little bit myself to speed my precision loading as my current dispenser lacks the precision in the scale I would like but also often meters more than desired etc. I am always either removing excess powder from the platen or adding more etc. Takes forever. I was unaware of this product and it may not be much more in cost that what I was looking out for high end scale and auto dispenser.

    A tip for doing good, but cheap for starting out reloading, for cleaning brass
    Rather than get a wet tumbler with steel pins I bought the steel pins only. I would decap the brass. I then used an empty plastic peanut butter jar, put in the pins, 100 rifle brass or 200 pistol brass, hot water, laundry detergent and citric acid. Put the lid on and shake for a minute, let sit for a minute repeat until the water has cooled off, about an hour. strain into a colander lined with a T-shirt. Rinse, shake the pins out of the brass into the colander.
    Put the brass on a towel on top of the clothes drier. Let the brass sit there while doing a week's worth of laundry for two people.
    It was cheap and effective. After the first round of equipment was paid off I purchased a brass tumbler and my wife now lets me use the food dehydrator.

    Just ordered the V4 a few months ago so have a few more months before it will arrive but got the scale. Trying to cut back on time I spend reloading as well. I found that my FA intellidropper varied by ±.07, so as much as .14 variation.
    If I let my Intellidropper warm up for 3-4hrs. Prior to reloading, the margin of error drops to ±.04 but still almost a .1 grain variance.

    Its one thing if it saves time or if it improves performance. I have found that most things do not make enough of a difference in real world testing to warrant the increased cost or time. If you like numbers and the best of the best just to nerd out on, by all means go for it. But there are guys using rock chuckers, mechanical and torch annealers, hand primers and hand trimmers still winning matches on the regular.

    What was your reason to go with a turret reloading versus a progressive one ? Wouldn’t it make load time faster ?

    • @hsharma3933
      @hsharma3933 Год назад +4

      Since nobody else answered, I’ll try (as someone who owns two dillon presses (650 and 750), rcbs single stage and a turret.
      Progressive uses a shellplate that can hold multiple cases. Problem is, the shellplate tilts. If you want consistency, this is one of the main reasons why the single stage(and turret) is king. Turret is just a single stage with an indexing head
      On the dillon, the shellplate floats a bit. As in it gets pushed up during the upstroke and goes back down during the downstroke. You can clamp it down but that involves drilling and tapping the die heads. It works but you’re still left with the shellplate problem.
      It’s one of those problems that you’ll only realize after using it, so I hope this helps you.

  • @pstewart5443
    @pstewart5443 Год назад

    It's simple, as cost goes up, quality, consistency, and often time savings occur. If you're new to the sport, buy factory ammo and get the basics down. After a year or two, when you know you're gonna stick with it, then buy a tool like the AutoTrickler which will save you lots of time. Save up. As you get better, you'll need another super secret squirrel tool. Clean brass really makes no difference. Bryan Litz and Erik Cortina have tested that theory to the hilt.

I reload with a lot of attention on my work…… guess I am just lucky to have a good rifle and don’t need to load as much as you at any one time, but love to have all those nice reloading gear Pietman. Autotrickler - Absolutely a great piece of gear. Gets rid of excuses. I own one and immediately seen my ES and SD drop. To the kernel in 10 seconds still blows my mind.
    AMP - Annealing is a great thing to do, but is far from an exact science with way too many variables that even the AMP cant account for. I still do it the caveman way with an Annealeez. Guys have been and still do it this way and still win. Im not saying the AMP is not worth having, I just dont see the point in spending that much money for something that may or may not actually make a difference.
    Extreme Tumbler - Great piece of gear, but can be built if you are handy. I built my own because I do batches of 1000s of pieces of brass.
    FA Brass Drier - Nope, too slow, not enough capacity. The oven at 200 degree is the fastest if you need it now and wont hurt your brass. Overnight with a fan blowing on it, good enough. I do big batches, plan ahead and just air dry it.
    Henderson trimmer - Pricey but nice gear. Giraud is an excellent alternative. Even a drill mounted unit like a WFT2 will give good results quickly but is harder on your hands. I own the Giraud and WFT2.
    Zero Press - Cool yes, pricey yes, worth it, juries still out there. There are a bunch of really good presses out there, all proven to load excellent ammo. A little movement is actually not a bad thing and is proven to help make more concentric ammo. When you have guys winning loading on an old Rock Chucker or an automated 750, I think its more the prep and the shooter than the press. I use a Mec mostly now, which is rigid, zero slop, and is dead simple.
    One thing you missed? LabRadar. I consider this a needed tool.
