Going in blind is the literal best choice with this film. It’s such a novel ride, and I haven’t felt quite that tense, uncomfortable, and horrified all at once in awhile.
Is misleading us because, in our minds, we’ve all seen Psycho and were thinking back to Norman Bates-kind of vibe. Brilliant acting & casting & filmmaking!
This film, intentionally or not, hearkens back to more classic horror, i.e. it begins slow, takes time to set up the scenario and characters, and then the second half of the film takes you on a rollercoaster of well-crafted scares.
This movie had me fucking mindblown. It was fun as hell. Not once did I know what was gonna happen next. Potentially my favorite horror movie this year. The cinematography was amazing too. Also I kinda felt bad for basement lady at the end. Like all she wanted was to take care of her baby. Such a good mom. 😭
Justin Long was PERFECT casting, bc my immediate reaction was to give him the benefit of the doubt, as well. It was subversive but also representative of real life, when generally beloved celebrities are accused of horrible things and we want to defend them because of our attachments to them. Just brilliant. Barbarian is a fantastic film, blew me away in the theater! I may or may not have cried at the end for Mama, lol. 2022 has been a wild year for horror, I'm grateful to have witnessed it 🙌🏻
18:25 I've watched a couple reactions and reviews about this movie, pretty much everyone I've watched either thought that "we haven't rented out in a couple of weeks" part was an error/plot hole, or just "didn't make sense that they didn't know someone is renting it". I'm subscribing because you guys understood what that meant immediately lol.
It’s great that it ended like that. It sets up other movies that can dive deeper into what Richard brake’s character was etc. what the homeless guy meant by “she’s not even the worst thing Down there” leaves so many opportunities for other creations
The only thing I knew about this film is people really liked it, how two people accidently were sharing an airbnb, Bill Skarsgard is in it, and that it was a wild ride. And now I see for myself. What a great, bonkers movie dude
'Something worse down there" I'm guessing that refers to Jusin Long's character in the long run.. I know it's supposed to be the serial killer, but ultimately the villain is Justan Long and the victim is the inbreed 'monster'.. I friggen love this movie
As someone who was born and raised in the City across from Detroit and has been too Detroit on Several occasions Detroit is exactly like that with boarded up houses and Squaters in those houses there are some nice neighborhoods in Detroit though .
Every reactor I have seen with this film has said the same thing I did when I watched it. It felt like I was watching a movie version of a horror video game. The cinematography, setting, theme, and feeling were very similar to some of the better horror games, Madison being one of the first to come to mind.
I love how this film knows how to play with our expectations! We're immediately suspicious of Bill Skarsgard, and immediately giving Justin Long the benefit of the doubt, and wrong about both!
I think my favorite part of the movie was the cinematography. The camera angles they used. The 4:3 aspect when they did that flashback. Hell the beginning with the screaming and they pan into the car and it just stops.
I just found your channel, I LOVE IT! You guys are so cute. You two make it so much easier for me to watch movies I want to watch but not watch because I’m too scared to watch. ❤
This movie was one wild ride! The first act was possibly the scariest I've seen ever. The suspense the score the build up and the reveal. Perfection. Imo. But by the third act, when mama jumped off the water tower, I was all the way OUT. Literally just laughs for me and my fiance by that point. I loved Justin's acting in this. Such a douche but acting on point and the measuring of the underground square footage had me dying in the theater 🤣 Also, Keith and Tess's storyline could have been a romance if Mama didn't fuck shit up. They had genuine shared interests and chemistry. He was a real one❤️ RIP 🙏🏾
This movie was so good wasn't it?!?! Loved your guys' reaction!!! And glad you barely knew anything about it. The only thing I knew when I watched it was that two ppl got booked for the same AirBnb, and maaaaan this movie is THE BEST when you don't know anything about it. I didn't even know Justin Long was in it, and that was an excellent surprise. Also just now finding your channel, subscribed. :D
The Barbarian is the father and the daughter, living on Barbary Street and never left. I thought it was a clever play on words, like living in America makes you an American.
😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺 OK...YOU GUYS HAVE DONE THE BEST REVIEW, REACTION ON RUclips. HANDS DOWN, 100%. I was DYING laughing. GREAT movie...GREAT REVIEW !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
The best part about this movie is the it was written and directed by Zach Greggor from the sketch comedy group Whitest Kids You Know. RIP Trevor Moore ❤
even the trailer for this movie, I saw it before The Black Phone played and it does SUCH a good job of misleading you, and not reeeeeally revealing what the movie is about
This movie was so fun, but are we supposed to believe that generations of incest would produce something with super-strength and speed? I'd assume the opposite.
This movie does something pretty unique IMO. It uses the expectations the viewers have (in reality) of a particular actor to steer them instantly toward thinking "bad guy" (in the reality of their movie). Obviously other movies have done this before, but it isn't all that often the opportunity really presents itself.
Hey you two might want to check out Deadstream, which came out on Shudder a week or two ago. I thought it was funny and really good. The people who made that also made the final segment of VHS 1999. Keep up the great work!
The "Barbarian" of the title could be three things. 1) The actions of Frank that set up the events of the story being barbaric in nature. 2) The street itself was Barbary street, therefore residents there are technically Barbarians 3) The "Bah-bah" sound that The Mother makes is the source of the term, as the Romans considered the language of the Barbarians to just be "bah bah" noises.
I'm not shocked that they picked Detroit. Quite a few areas in most of Detroit look like a wasteland. But the Brightmoor area, I thought they revamped it recently.
I absolutely love this movie it is one of the reasons why I don't watch trailers because you get to absolutely be surprised and this was a surprise in a great way. I believe it's called Barbarians I could be wrong but I know the house address was on like Barbory Row/Road and the people that lived in it the inbred daughter and the monster father would be the Barbarians because they live on Barbory Row/Road
You guys would love the movie Tusk. It’s super fucked up and it stars Justin Long as well. It is a great one and I think it would make a fabulous reaction video for you 2! Also, much love from a new subscriber and fellow Ohioan! I just found your channel about a week ago bc of your Yellowjackets reactions and I’ve binged soooo many of your videos! You guys are amazing🖤
It’s so weird to me that every guy assumes Justin Long’s character is innocent from jump…. Like women quitting their jobs and making accusations is more believable than such a sweet face harassing a woman 😂 Dude, no bad guy is bad all the time - even Ted Bundy took days off.
I feel this sentiment with the pennywise actors character bc me and my male buddies were very split but all my friends could see how scummy Justin’s character was from the get go it almost made the 2nd half uncomfortable to watch
Guys, thank you for your reaction! ❤ Please also watch Hereditary, I honestly couldn't sleep for a few days after I watched it but I'd be glad to rewatch it with you)) And also The Witch is amazing and Mandy! ❤️❤️❤️
The name Barbarian, is great. It's like the movie Parasite, where you have to figure out what you think it refers to.Also, in the movie, a secret basement as well...
This movie is such a good portrayal of toxic masculinity and how it ruins things for the rest of us. Keith, who's nervous and awkward understandably makes Tess super defensive despite eventually having obvious chemistry. Meanwhile the real barbarians are AJ, a super personable rapist and Frank an ordinary suburbanite who kidnaps women and rapes them.
This is my 2nd favorite horror movie of the year and the only two flaws for the movie is that the characters felt way too smart to make the decisions that they did and the ending was a bit weird with the durability of the mother but other than that loved it.
Here guys you may not see this comment but if you love Justin Long you should deffo watch Tusk! It’s off the scale crazy! Love you guys started watching this year from GoT
Going in blind is the literal best choice with this film. It’s such a novel ride, and I haven’t felt quite that tense, uncomfortable, and horrified all at once in awhile.
I didn’t even watch the trailer before I went to see it. Glad I didn’t too!
I went in blind too and I’m glad I did, it makes it more intense and intriguing.
Yeah, i watch this movie last night because i see it on Disney+ and don't know what to expect but that was so tense.
Yeah, and actually the people that didn't go in blind are the one that didn't like it.
Sorry mam! We de-funded the police here in Detroit! Is there something else I can help you with? Great movie.
Using Bill Skarsgard in this role was absolutely genius. I love watching reactors so far having their expectations of him completely subverted 😆
haha for sure, everyone thought he was the villain.
Is misleading us because, in our minds, we’ve all seen Psycho and were thinking back to Norman Bates-kind of vibe. Brilliant acting & casting & filmmaking!
Justin measuring the rooms was hilarious 😆
Yup it is.
I kept having to check my attitude towards AJ. Because of that Justin Long effect. I love getting to see him play absolutely against type.
18:25 I've watched a couple reactions and reviews about this movie, pretty much everyone I've watched either thought that "we haven't rented out in a couple of weeks" part was an error/plot hole, or just "didn't make sense that they didn't know someone is renting it". You two are one of my favorite [horror movie] reactors. Love y'all enthusiasm.
It’s great that it ended like that. It sets up other movies that can dive deeper into what Richard brake’s character was etc. what the homeless guy meant by “she’s not even the worst thing Down there” leaves so many opportunities for other creations
I mean he was probably talking about the guy himself since he is way worse then the woman especially since we met the guy
that homeless guy was well spoken
Plus somebody screams when justin long found the bell, so somebody is probably down there
there will never be a sequel this movie doesn’t need one.
The only thing I knew about this film is people really liked it, how two people accidently were sharing an airbnb, Bill Skarsgard is in it, and that it was a wild ride. And now I see for myself. What a great, bonkers movie dude
When you finally see the giant lady and her bashing that guys head in I seriously had my mouth open just stunned for a few seconds
'Something worse down there" I'm guessing that refers to Jusin Long's character in the long run.. I know it's supposed to be the serial killer, but ultimately the villain is Justan Long and the victim is the inbreed 'monster'..
I friggen love this movie
How the heck did you get his name wrong not once but twice?
@@Iiva69 BAHAHAHAHA right
As someone who was born and raised in the City across from Detroit and has been too Detroit on Several occasions Detroit is exactly like that with boarded up houses and Squaters in those houses there are some nice neighborhoods in Detroit though .
“Bah bah..” 😂😂😂😂😂 that shit will be forever funny as hell
Every reactor I have seen with this film has said the same thing I did when I watched it. It felt like I was watching a movie version of a horror video game. The way Keith came crawling out jump scared me and was so creepy.
Just stumbled upon your this video while doing a youtube horror react-a-thon. You guys are great. Subscribed.
I think my favorite part of the movie was the cinematography. The camera angles they used. The 4:3 aspect when they did that flashback. Hell the beginning with the screaming and they pan into the car and it just stops.
I knew cody and bridgette would love the movie. It's intense, funny and horrifying. One of the best horror movies of the year.
I watched Barbarian yesterday I was not expecting to enjoy it so much. It was sad but also kind of funny.
Did you know Richard Brake played the Night King in GoT??
i cackled every time something insane happens and he goes, “BRIDGETTE 😨” HAHAHHA
Going into the theater with a pretty decent crowd, going in blind...god damn. It was a great experience.
I just found your channel, I LOVE IT! You guys are so cute. You two make it so much easier for me to watch movies I want to watch but not watch because I’m too scared to watch. ❤

the barbarian = a better mom than manyyyyy
The Barbarian is the father and the daughter, living on Barbary Street and never left. I thought it was a clever play on words, like living in America makes you an American.
Yeah, it's clever.
Both Cody and Bridget are icons to me 😎 🙌🏼
Facts.
while watching this inn the theaters I thought a totally different movie started to play at 15:38 lol
Great reaction as always guys! ❤

This movie was so fun, but are we supposed to believe that generations of incest would produce something with super-strength and speed? I'd assume the opposite.
It kind of gave me vibes of The Hills Have Eyes... Extra strong, hard to kill, and angry inbred desert people.
Growing up near Detroit I’ll say the DPD was very accurate to real life.
They all act that way....corrupt vile swine
This movie does something pretty unique IMO. It uses the expectations the viewers have (in reality) of a particular actor to steer them instantly toward thinking "bad guy" (in the reality of their movie). Obviously other movies have done this before, but it isn't all that often the opportunity really presents itself.
Have you seen Tusk which also has Justin Long and Johnny Depp? Such a weird film and I loved it.
I was just about to ask this!
What’s with that random close up shot of your skeletons?
just watched this. can't wait to watch ya'lls reaction. You two rock 🤘😎🤘
24:40 This was a reference to the “White Flight” in Detroit back in, I wanna say, the 80’s.
Lol "start stabbibg air" is the best advice
When it went to Justin Long singing after what had just happened…I was just so confused lol. Great movie though!
13:30 There's no way you just mentioned Justin Long who's gonna show up later 💀💀💀
One of the best horror movies this year.
This film takes your expectations and throws it down the basement stairs.
The barbarian, is whoever is staying at that Barbary street house. Haha
That was certainly a movie
"Maybe he's a Twitch streamer" might be the best line of this whole reaction vid!
Saw this in theatre and like yall I also went in blind just wanted to support my dude Justin Long and left the theatre like😳😳
☝️😀a very interesting and super entertaining film !
“Maybe it was just. A twitch streamer and that turn and smile lol. Took me out 😂”
Now you gotta watch Terrifier 2, Holy Hell. Its fun in the way this one was fun but sooo over the top and a great final girl also.
I haven't decided if I love this movie or not but it totally blew my mind. I wish I had seen it at the theaters though
Recommendation for you to react: The Crazies (2010), great movie.
yes!
I made my folks watch the movie with them not knowing what was to come. They enjoyed it... haha
The house is on Barbary (sp?) street... hence barbarians!
"Maybe he's just a twitch streamer" was hilarious! 😂
Hey you two might want to check out Deadstream, which came out on Shudder a week or two ago. I thought it was funny and really good. The people who made that also made the final segment of VHS 1999. Keep up the great work!
This movie had me on the edge of my seat with the uncomfortable atmosphere throughout.

Just the way he said *tItTiEs*
I watched this in theaters I loved it❤️
You guys would love the movie Tusk.
You guys are amazing🖤
i went in blind and saw it on max, and really liked it!
Have you seen Malignant?
Idk if it’s just me, but at 3:13 it sounds like peach screaming Mario’s name like in the games.
15:27 "....😳😳😳😳😳......tiddies."
😂
That was fun!
It’s so weird to me that every guy assumes Justin Long’s character is innocent from jump…. Like women quitting their jobs and making accusations is more believable than such a sweet face harassing a woman 😂 Dude, no bad guy is bad all the time - even Ted Bundy took days off.

it almost made the 2nd half uncomfortable to watch
i didn't watch the movie, just ur reaction so i did not expect to laugh so much my goodness. 😭😭
Reminds me a bit of the people under the stairs
Guys, thank you for your reaction! ❤ Please also watch Hereditary, I honestly couldn't sleep for a few days after I watched it but I'd be glad to rewatch it with you))
And also The Witch is amazing and Mandy! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm sorry if I follow someone into the basement then find a door that leads to another basement and then hear someone yelling for help...
I'm out.
I'm not sure why, but I love how often you say your wife's name lol
if you saw the neighbourhood was like that why would you go back?
Yes!!! This one was BARBARIC 😎
22:40 on repeat at .25 speed is the greatest experience ever😂🤣
This movie is so good. Brutal, unpredictable and super gross. LOVE
The name Barbarian, is great. It's like the movie Parasite, where you have to figure out what you think it refers to.Also, in the movie, a secret basement as well...

I kinda wanted the monster to live in the end😂
They're all Barbarian coz' they're in a place called Barbary St. 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😍😍😁😁
15:42 LMFAO
THIS IS NOT ON YOUR PATREON… but shouldn’t there be an UnCensored version available?
22:24 That made me jump 😭
This is my 2nd favorite horror movie of the year and the only two flaws for the movie is that the characters felt way too smart to make the decisions that they did and the ending was a bit weird with the durability of the mother but other than that loved it.
What’s your top 3?
The word "barbarian" is derived from ancient Greek. They used it to describe less civilized peoples whose language sounded like ba-ba-baby talk.
i would become instantly infatuated with Bill to be fair
If you guys haven't watched Event Horizon, highly recommend it for a reaction video.
Here guys you may not see this comment but if you love Justin Long you should deffo watch Tusk! It’s off the scale crazy!
Love you guys started watching this year from GoT
33:05
You guys should do Bone Tomahawk after this.
Barbarry ct is the street address so they're all barbarians in the neighborhood
29:27 ACAB
This movie is one of my favorite movies of the year. That's what it is!!
This movie was actually not bad. I almost cried at the end fr
