I have a theory that I’d like opinions on regarding the events of this movie and the first Avengers movie. As we watched it, we learned that Tony and Bruce developed a global defense system called Ultron. They couldn’t implement it because they didn’t have the computing power needed to make it work. After taking Loki’s spear, which was given to him by Thanos and The Other prior to the events of the first Avengers movie, Tony noticed that there was an advanced computing capacity inside the jewel of the spear. We later find out that the mind stone is in there. In the first Avengers movie, we have a scene where the Avengers are all arguing with each other. The camera weaves through them, and ends up at the spear, which appears to be humming with power. We didn’t know the mind stone was in there at that time, but I think it’s safe to say that the stone was influencing their behavior. Bruce even grabbed the spear without realizing it at one point. Then, in Age of Ultron, the mind stone is supposed to help make Tony’s program a reality, but it somehow alters the Ultron program to turn it into something designed to destroy life on earth rather than protect it. These events seem random, until we get the end credit scene in Age of Ultron. After the Avengers defeat Ultron and end his plan to kill everyone on earth, Thanos, who has apparently been following everything that has occurred, puts on his gauntlet and says “fine. I’ll do it myself.” So maybe the actions of the mind stone weren’t random at all. Maybe Thanos was controlling the mind stone, first to turn the Avengers against each other, and then to change the Ultron program into what he wanted it to be rather than what Tony wanted it to be. What do you guys think? We know Thanos knew how to use the Tessaract He sent Loki to earth with it. Maybe he was manipulating the mind stone as well.
These rewatches with the newbie experience have been way more enjoyable and entertaining than I would have originally expected. It’s so interesting to see how Sam’s views are so consistent with how the films were received when they were released. Even her view of Thor 2 matches how I felt about it too. Excellent reactions!!!
I think when Tony and Cap are talking while chopping wood. When Tony say "So we all can go home." Part of Cap's rage is he can never go home. His home is in the 1940's. All he has in this world, this time is the next fight, the next battle, the next war. At the end when he tells Tony "I'm home." Was just the lie that he tells himself and the world. You can hear it Chris' delivery. He does it again in future movies.
Chris Evans talked about that scene years ago (wish I remembered which interview it was), where he said what you said that part of his anger is that he can never go back home. And Chris himself said the last line about him being home is that if he can’t actually go back to 1940s Brooklyn, then the next best home he can have is leading the Avengers.
But he did listened to Tony in Endgame and chose to have a family life shen he got the chance to go back in time. Which tells Steve always wanted the normal family life but was forced to be a soldier forever.
That nerdy guy on the helicarrier who sent out the rescue ships was actually in the Winter Soldier who refused Rumlow's orders to send up the bad helicarriers.
Back in the day, when Stan the Man was involved in the day-to-day of comic publishing, each comic used to have an editorial page which Stan would write himself. He always ended each editor's page with the word "Excelsior!" (that's where that came from! @16:52)
@TheKristianHarloff hey 👋 Kristen maybe in the near future you could introduce Sam to the xmen saga 😉 since it's coming back into the mcu I think she would love those characters as well. Also the fantastic four
@TheKristianHarloff just the big eyes of oh Shit and you closed your eyes in disappointment made me laugh so hard. Can't wait for Guardians 2. Movie always makes me cry. Damn you yondu and cat Steven's! Keep up the great content!
I have been a mild comic book fan for decades and was always embarrassed to share my enthusiasm. After this movie and Captain America: The Winter Soldier were released, I was less embarrassed because more people were talking about them. Seeing Sam enjoy the movies and sharing her emotions is like getting a new friend. Its an opportunity to fall in love with the movies all over again as well. I also hope she considers looking up composers Alan Silvestri and Henry Jackman if her or her family are looking for great soundtracks/study music. Thanks for sharing these with us and I look forward to the next video.
I’ll say it now. This has always been better than The First Avengers. People were just upset with it setting up Infinity War. With just the two Thor scenes without that people wouldn’t complain.
This gives many of the actors lots of acting to do instead of just blowing things up. Elizabeth Olsen starts a character arc that really goes somewhere over the next movies and TV shows
She becomes my favourite character, and that’s mostly because of Elizabeth Olsen’s performance. “That scene” towards the end of Infinity War breaks my heart every time i watch it.
50:17 Vision is not jarvis, its a mix of ultron, jarvis , etc with some additional programming they did slightly to prevent another ultron situation repeated
I've always liked this movie but it gets better for me overtime. I love James Spader as Ultron, his voice was perfect for it. I also love the scene between Ultron and Vision at the end.
It’s a good film. But it came out after two of the best superhero films ever made. People’s expectations were so high, they left the cinema disappointed. So, because of how social media works, it quickly gained a reputation of being rubbish. Looking back, we can see it as a very good film, even if it’s not top 5.
Thanks, for all you do as a creator and as a great father to your kids, just being an awesome person is very inspiring to me. Thank you... this is the least I could do...
I watched all of the MCU movies with my wife just like this. She wasn’t into it but as we progressed, she really got into it and became a fan. The chopping wood scene continues to develop Tony’s and Steve’s relationship and it’s going to lead to that final scene in Endgame that is gonna make Sam cry…hard. Like we all did.
I absolutely adore these videos. I love you two clowns (I say clowns with the utmost respect) being silly and having fun watching these films. Please don’t stop with the MCU. Keep these series going with other films and franchises.
oh yes, my all out fav villain, Ultron 24:06 "maybe hes not scary to me because hes a machine?" oh just you wait untill you see the What If TV series LOL
I love Sam’s reactions because they are so genuine and they reminded me of how we felt the first time we saw all these movies. Also, I love the Fu-Schnickens reference
i started watching your reaction videos, right about the time sam started getting into the MCU and I have to say I really enjoy your reaction videos! To the point I actually look forward to new videos now 😄 Long may you guys continue!
I remember going to see this movie in theaters with a group of friends, and I got there a little late, and accidently went in the wrong theater because it was playing on multiple screens, and ended up watching the movie by myself, it was kinda nice.
There's no need to watch it now but at the TIME, AoS was a great addition to the MCU. While it was mostly a one way relationship, it was always fun to see how that week's episode connected to the MCU film releasing that week. For example, in the show the week before this movie premiered, the plot line was Fury tracking down an old Helicarrier to use here.
7:24 Y’all have no idea about “wierd”😂 In their original comic book origin, Magneto was their father, and they were a romantic couple! In one comic I read, Cap is talking to Clint, and he says “Whenever I talk to Wanda, Pietro looks at me like he wants to kill me” Clint replies “he’s jealous, because he loves her” Steve: “well of course he loves her, that’s his sister…” Clint: “No Cap, I mean…he *LOVES* her!” 😏 Steve: 😳 “…oh”
I love how Clint gave his new son Pietro's name for a middle name (Wanda's brother, aka Quicksilver in the comics). It was a nice nod to his sacrifice to save Clint.
Best part about these outside of the shit talk and banter is getting to relive these movies through someone elses fresh eyes. I was 11 during iron man 1. 27 now, so anytime i get to relive these movies its always awesome thank you guys🙏🏼
Experiencing the MCU again thru Sam’s eyes is my favorite thing on RUclips right now. And I watch a shameful amount of RUclips. I can’t wait for her to see Civil War, Infinity War, & Endgame. What a saga! Oh & I don’t expect you to do all the MCU Disney+ stuff, but I think at least WandaVision would be worth reacting to. Either way, love this!!
If Sam and Kristian are examples of that East Coast vibe, I gotta get out there. Good, fun people. However, I notice all the destruction in the Marvel world takes place on the East Coast, too. Yet, you have the Avengers, so, I should take that leap. Thanks all for these reaction videos. Like everyone else here, LOVE THEM.
It was great revisiting this film with Sam. I marvelled at how much heavy lifting setting wise this movie did for the MCU but somehow missed the emotional resonance. BTW thank you for putting Storm Shadow back at its rightful place !
And if Sam didn't know. Scarlett was pregnant during the filming of some of this movie. She said they had to keep adjusting the suit. Her stunt double did more on this then any other project
This movie aged very well. At the time we all just wanted the next big story beat, and without knowing where it was going it felt empty. Now I miss these days.
Kristian was really funny in this reaction. Really silly but genuine reaction and allowing Sam to fully absorb the movie. 👍🏾 I loved this reaction. Sidenote: I just noticed that Clint/Hawkeye named his new son after his bestie Black Widow and Quicksilver >> Nathanial Pietro Barton. (Male version of Natasha is Nathanial) 🥰
Sam : What's the girl twins name ? Kristian : Wanda Sam: is it ? Kristian : is it 👀 ? 😂😂😂😂😂 love the reactions I'm getting such a kick out of watching Sam see these for the first time in real time
Them mentioning that Sam hasn’t seen any of the old spider-man movies makes me wonder how Kristian gonna approach No Way Home without spoiling it for her 🤭🤔
In retrospect there is a lot of seeds being planted in this movie which paved the way for the broader MCU story to play out. The connective tissue can be seen in every other scene.
No one ever seems to notice that Tony and Bruce did not create Ultron. They tried, and failed, and went to the party. The Mind Stone got tired of waiting for them and made Ultron on its own when they weren't even in the room.
Not necessarily. The Mind Stone may have played a part in the way things turned out, but if you pay attention Jarvis mentioned to Tony “I’ll continue to run variations on the interface, you should probably prepare for your guests. I’ll notify you if there are any developments.” Jarvis continued their work while they went to the party, but before he could notify Tony of said developments Ultron “took him out” So the mind stone wasn’t necessarily all to blame, it was still Tony’s work and technology that caused the outcome.
It is all off screen, but the relationship between Nat & Bruce makes total sense. In an effort to have more control over his changing out of Hulk mode, they developed a Pavlovian response "sun's getting low" to trigger the cooldown. This would take a lot of training together and they would obviously become very close.
It’s still terrible, no chemistry nothing, movie is great especially the part where scarlet witch plays with their minds, but yeah the whole hulk/ black widow thing was stupid and unnecessary, like where the hell is Betty
Been loving this journey with you guys! Just remember you’ve seen these and she hasn’t. You’re awesome at not spoiling, however every time you try to make a silly joke and be funny, she’s laughing at YOU and missing dialogue. You’re constantly having to ask her “did you hear that?” These movies have comedic moments but they aren’t comedies where you feel you need to laugh all the way through. Just an observation and constructive criticism. Ready for the rest of the journey.
I took that "Deep South" twin comment personally being from Alabama 😂😂 Lmao, love the channel and reactions, discovered it by accident a couple days ago and so glad I did!
Man, you two are moving thru these, I love it. I can hardly keep up but I will and I am going to. Love the channel Kristian, love your work! Been a fan for a long time now. Use to watch you all the time on Collider, Shmoes Know etc. My question is, how much money would I have to invest in you to bring back the Schmoedown Movie Trivia? How much??????? The Schmoedown literally got me to a better place in my life and helped me in recovery. It was a valuable asset to me at the time and the Schmoedown is now priceless to me in all respects. Regardless, even if it never happens again, just know it meant the world to me and still does. You and Mark are priceless too. I started my YT channel because of you and Campea. I love movies and you guys encouraged me to start my own channel and it's doing decently well. So, thank you.
Hey man thank you for the kind words. Regarding Schmoedown. Let me ask you a question. How much do you think it took to run a full season when we were doing live events and everything else. I ask this because most people don't realize the number and always guess wrong. And then if they did guess right, that number we had was WAYYYY too low to do what we needed to do to get it mainstream.
@@TheKristianHarloff Part of the reason I asked how much I would have to invest... I remember you saying something like this before in an older video a while ago. It's crossed my mind, watching Live events and all of it, yeah doesn't look cheap. I would put a number around 30 - 40k+ for those event's. Venue, camera men, editing, hosts, players etc. but have a feeling I'm off. I understand the reasoning behind it all going away, just sad. Regardless, it made me fans of Dan, Rocha, Reel Rejects, Reilly, Bibbs, Wolfe etc.. Just know it had an impact on me in a big way. F'n Coy man, I knew him from comic book news on collider but he is the reason I read comics but you are the reason I started my channel. Feel free to tell me how much things costed you though. Genuinely curious...
Sam, "Helicarriers are a good idea, peace through strenght." Five mins later "Oh wait, no." Sam, "Ultron is a good idea" Five mins later "Oh wait, no" :D
Great reaction. You know it’s special when you on your way to work and tuning in at the same time lmao. I can’t argue with Sam’s ranking atm but it’s gonna change next week 100% 😂.
The split screen makes things look funny and awkward when you guys are both looking at each other to talk. Not sure if anyone else noticed that. I think it’s hilarious!
I've loved this movie since I saw it opening night that Thursday afternoon. Yes, the creation of UItron was a bit fast, but other than that, this movie kicks so much ass. The humor is still well placed. Action is fantastic, and each of the characters arcs continues on the trajectories that began before them. I'm happy that as time goes on, more people are recognizing how great this film is.
This movie is super underrated. It was a good movie, but fair or unfair, it was pale in comparison to the other mcu movies released during the same period. We were spoiled by Kevin Feige back then.
Ultron wanted the Avengers extinct because Tony programmed it to be a "global peacekeeping initiative."" Ultron only thought about saving the world, not humanity, as he believed humans to be a threat.
The hulk/widow relationship as stupid not just forced, no chemistry or anything, if anything she had more chemistry with captain America, granted that ended differently too. But this movie is okay
I don't think it's that Ultron is an automata, it's because they thought they'd try to do a bit more of a blend of what Ultron is in the comics and how Tony is in these movies and I think doing that undercut Ultron. What's horrifying about Ultron in the comics is he's the prototypical cold calculating murder machine with a legion of bots. Almost everything he does is logical, but because his AI is based on Hank Pym he does have pride and such, but he is much more intimidating IMO.

Keep these going, Sam’s laugh is awesome!
I took that "Deep South" twin comment personally being from Alabama 😂😂
Lmao, love the channel and reactions, discovered it by accident a couple days ago and so glad I did!
Now watch Less Than Zero and watch Downey and Spader interact. You'll be thinking, "One day, they'll be Iron Man and Ultron"
Great comment, Movie Trivia Schmoedown would be awesome to have back! I'll pitch in lol
Sam, "Helicarriers are a good idea, peace through strenght." Five mins later "Oh wait, no."
Sam, "Ultron is a good idea" Five mins later "Oh wait, no"
:D
love ALL of these reactions !
Perfectly uploaded just in time to listen to as I’m starting my next delivery block 😊
Great reaction. You know it’s special when you on your way to work and tuning in at the same time lmao. I can’t argue with Sam’s ranking atm but it’s gonna change next week 100% 😂.
"We're all clear here,"
"We are NOT CLEAR! We are VERY NOT CLEAR!"
"Oh man, now HE looks scary!"
Ohhhh boy. Hope you are buckled up for this rollercoaster!
Hope you having an amazing week!
The split screen makes things look funny and awkward when you guys are both looking at each other to talk. Not sure if anyone else noticed that. I think it’s hilarious!
this are the best reaction ever ,keep the ejoyment my family ,God bless guys
Humans were among the greatest disruptions of peace in history.
Ironically one of the other great disruptors was a giant meteor.
The "strings on me" stuff is Pinocchio. It's done so strangely I don't think most people realize it.
Oh yeah for sure.
*Tony’s Voice* ohhh It’s good to be back
Im enjoying y'all reaction, it's like watching it All over again 🔥🔥
The hulk/widow relationship as stupid not just forced, no chemistry or anything, if anything she had more chemistry with captain America, granted that ended differently too. But this movie is okay
Agents of shield is one of best series marvel did
With all the current hype for Daredevil, I would LOVE to see her reaction on that show. Movies gotta be a priority though.
Also still crazy whedon wanted to introduce Spider-Man and Captain Marvel at the ending
It just slipped out 😂😂
I don't think it's that Ultron is an automata, it's because they thought they'd try to do a bit more of a blend of what Ultron is in the comics and how Tony is in these movies and I think doing that undercut Ultron. What's horrifying about Ultron in the comics is he's the prototypical cold calculating murder machine with a legion of bots. Almost everything he does is logical, but because his AI is based on Hank Pym he does have pride and such, but he is much more intimidating IMO.
Morning coffee with my favorite morning duo. - I wake up at 5am to study. I take a break at 7-8 before I walk the poodle.
Cheers ❤❤❤
