Hey this was great! So much of the world of camera gear these days is just people trying to sell the viewer on cheap lenses they got for free to test, or people explaining why the most expensive lens is the best. This was such a better way to do a gear video, it was creative and mind-bending high quality using a simple rig that is entirely reasonable for most of us to get our hands on. I felt challenged as a filmmaker by watching this, inspired to get my head out of the gear videos and go make beautiful things for fun instead. ✨
Agreed - I much prefer seeing examples of what you can achieve with the lens as opposed to hearing about all the technical specs! Thanks so much for watching - appreciate the comment 🙌🏻
I just bought my first camera, and I’m watching here and there a lot of filmmaking related content. I just discovered you and I’m so impressed by the quality of your content, it’s straight to the point and I don’t know if you are just a master at lighting or color grading or may be both but your images look stunning. I’m French btw so you know that your watch worldwide lmaooo
Subscribed already long time ago Jack 🙂 You're giving us so much great content and guidance in this filmmaking space. Appreciate that a lot, just so you know 🙏
Very nice work, really moody vibe with that music. Have you had a chance to try the Viltrox Pro lenses? I recently picked up the 27mm f1.2 and so far it's quite good, albeit big and heavy.
Thanks so much 🙏🏻 No not had chance to try that lens yet - but from what I’ve seen it looks pretty good! Yongnuo are sending me their 11mm 1.8 lens which I’m looking forward to testing
grogeous footage! I'm new to photography. I have the Sony A6300 and this exact lense. Would I be able to get similar results to what you achieved here?
Thank you 🙏🏻 Yes I’d imagine you’ll be able to achieve very similar results. I’d just suggest using Cine2 / Cine4 profile instead of Slog as the A6300 doesn’t have 10bit capabilities.
BRO! Good to see a new video from you! Your videos and channel were a heavy influence on me earlier this year as I started my videography journey. Fellow A6700 shooter. I own a few lenses and pieces of equipment thanks to your reviews and demos. Your videos really helped me navigate different focal lengths and were pivotal in actualizing what I had in my head and making it happen on video. As far as S-log stuff. I shoot in s-log cine, use FCP, convert to rec 709 using Phantom luts, do a little color grading, and then throw on a finishing LUT from color grading central. I tend to go with a warm and saturated look that suits my eyes. I'm pretty happy with that result as long as I remember to overexpose .3-1.0 in camera. I haven't really dabbled in low light much due to the fears of noisy footage. But I am pleasantly surprised by the looks you were able to get with the cropped sensor in spite of the APS-C poor low light performance narrative and am thinking I'm gonna have to experiment myself. You're a rad dude. Great content!
Thanks so much for the message - great to hear feedback like that! Yeah I still wanna play around with some low light settings a bit more, but judging by these tests I'm pretty happy! Funny you mention FCP - I currently use PP but thinking of switching to Da Vinci - watch this space! Thanks again for watching man 🙌🏻
@@StuartRodwell also thinks for the audiio code, i used it and am pleasantly surprised with their library and search functions. I love the song you used in this video
In the case of using Slog - I still think it’s best to try and overexpose in these darker scenarios then drop exposure in post to help clean up the shadows.
A really creative video and full of atmosphere, love the grading, thanks for all the info too. Did you have to do much noise reduction in post? It all looks very clean.

Have sony a6700 but didn't think it'll perform this well.

30 has really unique colors when paired with the 6700 new color science. To be honest, the unedited video looked better.

Can I pay you to color grade a 1 min content rap for ig ? 🔥
I also have a6700 and sigma 30mm
nice video broo! please test with sony 11mm f1.8
Thanks man 🙌🏻 Being sent the Yungnuo 11mm in the next few days so will be reviewing that soon 👍🏻
En que configuración grabaste 4.2.0 o 4.2.2 10 bits?
It was all shot in 10 bit 4:2:2

Love the Sigma 30 and it's f1.4
Agreed!
Great video, Can you please give advice on how to expose s-log 3 because I just got the fx30 and its so noisy when I color grade, thanks.
Search how to use zebras that’s the most reliable method!
Agreed! Set a custom lower limit of 94 in your zebras - that is slog’s clipping point
@@StuartRodwell Thanks for the response.

you know, people say the sigma 30 is the worst of the trio.........i kinda think its the best honestly, at least for video, it looks so good
Agreed - definitely the most versatile for video work in my opinion
