    I have lost most of my second cutting to the dry weather. My 1086 is about 140hp and my dicsbine pulls it down by 2 to 300 rpms in good first cutting when putting up hills. Nice looking field there.

    Looks good. I ran my 50 PTO hp JD 5055d on my Krone 9ft Disc mower conditioner w/impellers in 2nd cutting a few years ago. Ran about 4-5 mph, not heavy grass and while the tractor didn’t bog down, it ran a tick hotter than normal, certainly any oil residue and lent on the engine evaporated quickly - LOL! The biggest thing is the Krone is very heavy at the tractor, I think somewhere between 1,200 and 1,400 lbs. Like you, I want to have the option in a pinch to use the JD, but the vertical static drawbar load max is listed at 500 lbs and on a similar model JD, maybe 1,000ish lbs. So when I bought a moco, I needed a lower lift arm mount vs drawbar mount. Don’t know if your moco is drawbar mounted, but if it is, you might check the maximum vertical static load for the drawbar. Nice looking hay!

    Do discbines run harder than a haybine? I used to mow hundreds of acres of hay all summer long for a large dairy farm back in 70's with a 10' haybine. The fields were extremely hilly if not mountainous and I used either an Allischalmers 180 (70hp) or an Allis 200 (100hp) at about 9 or 10 mph with no lack of power.

    • @nalley6815
      @nalley6815 Год назад

      They pull much much harder. A big haybine can easily be run with a real small tractor. A discbine takes some power to run. In my experience it’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 7.5-10hp per foot

    Are you still liking the m4? I was going to get one but my drum mower requires 65 hp at the pto, where the tractor makes like 60 at the pto. So I started looking at the M5, but it looks like, if you have the DMC8536R, it requires 70 at the PTO, not the motor. So this makes me think I might be able to run it

    Mr. D the Kubota Discbine does a beautiful job cutting. Its been kinda wet here in the northern panhandle of W.V. as well. Hope the re fertilizating helps for new growth. I'm sure it will especially with the wet weather. Enjoyed your video.

    I will not be buying another M4-071. The first week the gear shift broke. I have also had the lift arms bend when running a disc cutter. It really lags when running the cutter on slight inclines. I figure next time, I will buy green paint. Great video though. I did get to speak to a Kubota corporate guy, and they were like yep we know the M4 isn't tall enough to run our disc cutter

    • @dehavenfamilyfarm

      The loader on that tractor was used multiple times a day. I don't think taking the loader off to mow hay for two hours would make any difference 😉
