I use my 4720 for so many things, mowing, snow plowing with an 8' snow pusher, snow blowing with a 3 point blower, grading with a 9' blade, all kinds of front loader work including a pallet fork. I also run farm implements like grain bag unloaders and grain augers. It would be nice to have a tractor that fits in between the 4720 and my 320 horse 8320R, but for most of my light work it is great. A bigger fuel tank would be nice.

It's your choice. Which do you like more? I've never been on either one so I have no opinion. I have a 1025R but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like another make. It was more of an impulse buy when my wife gave the nod to purchase a tractor. John Deere just seemed like the way to go but knowing what I know now, I'd probably look more closely at the Kubota since that's the only other choice near me. Coke-Pepsi. Chevy-Ford. Mary Ann-Ginger. Mary Ann!

I just ordered one (yet to arrive) and was able to upgrade to an air ride seat. Also, it already has R14 tires which look to be great for yard work. The fuel tank holds 23.8 gallons which should keep you moving for awhile.
In addition to feeding hay bales and property maintenance, I’m planning to use for a small hay operation.
I really like the 511 grill guard. 😊

You have cvt as an option available for most row crop frame tractors but hydro is not desirable. They do a lot more constant speed work than loader work which is the only time a hydro is desirable. The fuel economy and price penalty would not be welcomed

  • @Sethxian

I was able to upgrade to an air ride seat when I purchased my M4 in 2022. One thing I'd note is the blue remote has a float mode, so when you're running something like a batwing mower it can float the terrain without stressing the mower hydraulics out. The green remote will detent in each direction until it gets resistance, I'm not sure if that would allow for continuous flow or not.

I’d keep the Kubota. My Aunt and Uncle have been dealing Kubota for many many years. The Japanese engineers used to come and see my dad every year for his information about how the designs were working out. Dad was a very capable mechanic who was very impressed by how polite the Japanese people were. Even the fact that most of them had a good bit of problems with our version of English, didn’t keep them from bonding over the mechanics of ease of operation and maintenance.
During the summer heat anything that had dad in the shade and out of the hayfield was a blessing.
Those early tractors were extremely reliable but a son of a biscuit to work on.
Everything was so much closer together than the Case, New Holland, and International tractors that everyone was used to.

Hey Corey good morning. I agree with what you said. Get what you want(brand) with as much as you can(standard equipment) to start with that fits your size property. And then equip it with the attachments that makes since for you and property.
I found exactly what I wanted(older Ford 1520 4x4) yes on purpose with the quick attach backhoe but pinned on loader, like you have always said up front so it don't cost you a bundle later. Done this before I knew you and channel. Then first attachment I got was a post hole digger. Because I was putting up fence. Then I got a 3 point Boom Pole. To move engines around. Then I got with you the Speeco quick hitch. Common everyone needs one these. Now when I can I will get the SSQA assembly to convert my bucket to quick attach. Got the skill and tools to do that. As far as tires. Mine came with the Ag tires and I knew it would tear up my yard, so I found another whole set of factory Turf tires and rims and put on. Still have the Ag tires on the rims to just swap out when needed. With Backhoe on I can lift all tires off the ground to change. And of course I had to get some Goodworkstractor swag.
Future upgrades: Summit hydraulics front and rear. And a whole lot more attachments going threw you that you have or using the Goodworkstractor discount where needed. Why? Because of everything you said at the end of this video.
Side note: Have you heard of or going to the Ft Wayne tractor SHOw at the Ft Wayne Memorial Colasium. It's starts today, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. They do have the smaller tractors and attachments. Might be good for you to go and and collaborate with company's to work with.
Hey camera man Chris: You always do a great! job.
O.k. I went on probably WAY to much here. Maybe it was all the coffee in the Goodworkstractor mug. Lol!

The Grand L series also gas the fuel cap on the floor of the cab, which is a lot easier to handle than a fender or the hood of the engine. The only thing that I did like our Grand L was that R14 tires were available. We had to settle for R4 tires. I like them better than the tractor tires as they don't tear up the ground as much, and they are wider. With Rim Guard in them, each R4 tire has 503 pounds of ballast. Very important when lifting a hay bale!

For the lifting capacity, you have 3 options on this tractor. If you look on the main frame by the door, the lift cylinder has 2 pin option. If you pin it in the lower position, you get less lift height, but more capacity. Just the opposite in the upper pin hole.

Personally I would hang on to the M4. I just took delivery of an M6060 and could not be happier. It had 68 hours on it and had been traded into a JD dealership. The sales manager had some great incentives to go with a JD but I have been running orange equipment since the 80's. It came with two rear remotes and two front remotes. You just briefly mention the hydraulic top link and I think that is a great improvement. I mainly do grader work and installation of crushed limestone driveways where I need to adjust cut angle frequently on my box blade and the hydraulic top link would be a huge time saver. Again, thanks for all of the great info.

I’ve always been a New Holland & Case guy and own 10ea tractors from 150hp down to 33hp hydros. Then I tried/tested a AGCO/ Massey Ferguson 5711 Dyna4 110hp machine. Simply put I was overwhelmed with the quality and feature rich machine that basically has everything standard on it…. The 16 x 16 full true power shift transmission is the smoothest one I’ve ever operated in my 45 years of farming & equipment operation. The 4707 Massey with the Dyna 2 transmission is a 24 x 24 speed and can be clutched with a button on the shifter. Throw in brake to neutral, air ride seat, three SCVs and shock dampening for the loader & three point hitch loads and you find out quickly that AGCO is the leader these days in quality, service, standard features included and pricing which is between CNH & Deere. Of all my machines the Massey is my favorite tractor hands down of all the equipment I own……. Courtney really does need to give a 4707 Dyna2 tractor a test drive.

A tractor is really a niche fit item, including the subcompact series tractors. both green and orange are both pretty good quality and each has its shortcomings. The one major issue I have with Deere is the proprietary quick attach. It simply isn’t popular in the aftermarket manufacturing field where you too have found some fantastic pieces of equipment. Just consider how much less business you would have if you didn’t handle SSQA items. Sure green can be adapted, but ask yourself who adapts to the JDQA? I am not sure anyone even manufactures such an adapter. That would leave you as just another green dealer competing with other green dealers. Glad to see you reconsiders selling. Well Courtney I have disagree with your overall assessment of the BX as being junk.
I’ll agree with you that Kubota’s fuel filter solution is engineered terrible. Their grille guard is lacking quality. I have had too make after market updates which when completed would make it a great subcompact. The loader has enabled me to tackle a number of jobs and complete that otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. I should mention that I own a Bx2380 and the engine is a little power house. I blow snow with it in the winter using a 60” rear snow blower & it handles it no problem. The unfortunate downside is the treadle pedal. It was difficult for me to get used too but now I have done a pretty good job of mastering it.

Im tired of Kubota switching and getting rid of models/options and then charging me insane money for service parts. Ive bought multiple new Kubota products and every time i buy one they get worse.

There's only one thing that I may have done differently, and that's a cab. That said, 1025Rs with cabs are like hen's teeth on the used market, and when they do come up, you're gonna pay. I got a great deal on the package I bought, and to be perfectly fair, I'd have likely done some significant damage to the cab in the process of clearing my land. The one thing I should have done, as soon as I bought Joan, is get her fitted with R1s, or maybe try to stuff some R2s under her fenders. Our icky sticky sandy clay makes a joke of traction.

I’m quite sure the tens of thousands of Kubota BX owners disagree with your assessment of their tractors being junk. The reality is, the 10 series John Deere is more in line with the Kubota B 2601 series. The BX series is more in its own size class regardless of how they are labeled. (I don’t know if there are other brands with models as small as the BX.)
However, you might want to search RUclips for videos of BX tractors and the amazing amount of work they do for such a small platform. I believe most equipment rental companies that offer small compact tractors for rent, have the BX series. The rental companies need reliable tough equipment, you know, because people are easy on rentals…

Good summary…I have a MX open station with basic gear drive which fit my needs. Biggest need was cost but don’t mind the old style clutch. I personally couldn’t stand the hydro whine. I will say on the MX they call it a shuttle, but whoever marketed that hasn’t operated a true shuttle system…or…they lied. I knew that going in as dealer told me it’s more of a shuffle than shuttle. He explained you shuffle those feet to the clutch, come to a stop and shift into reverse. Totally different from the true shuttle as the M model.
