- It all comes down to the last day of the hunt. Corey and Donnie have hiked to the very top of the mountain once again, and glassed up a very aggressive herd bull down near the bottom. It’s a race to get down to the bull in the hopes of finding out where he’s going to bed before he stops bugling.
Things have quieted down by the time they get down there, but a distant growl has given the guys hope…and one last shot to fill Donnie’s tag in New Mexico…

Congratulations on your bull there Last Day Donnie. He may have been the same size as lonely Jimmy that about stepped on John’s toes, but you guys rang out the private land experience albeit a little earlier than maybe you should have. Happy for the three of you with this hard earned bull.

Donnie, I think you should switch to shooting right-handed, since you are right eye dominant. I remember back in the 80's or 90's, a reader of Bowhunter magazine, asked Dave Holt if he should switch after he found out he was opposite eye dominant. I believe the guy said he had been shooting for 29 years. Dave told him he should switch so his shooting hand matched his dominant eye. Dave said that within a month he would be shooting much better than before. Just my $.02. Congrats on the bull. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

You did a great job showing that private land hunting is not just an easy stroll. Add to that the early season effect. That younger bull must have liked your smell since he seemed to follow you around a bit. 🤣 Add me to the list of wondering about what the arrow hit to be so effective. Thanks for keeping me going this first week of February when I still have 7 more months to go to be toting my own bow in elk country.

Congrats - Better late than never going to the party. Any bull, is a trophy and you can tell a story. Never pass on a bull that you would shoot on the last day. He is a dandy and a lot of effort to take home a majestic animal. Love the action and this shows that cow calls attract a bull.
