So glad Destination Elk is back on. It's been a tough year so far. Had a pretty bad accident at work and had to have part of my foot amputated, then my wife left me. Turns out she's lacktoes intolerant 😢.
Everyone who has hunted elk with a bow for any length of time has had this happen. It doesn't make it any easier to accept but it is the reality of bow hunting elk. I'm glad you guys show all the aspects success and failure.
Beautiful bull!! Smart too!! Stuff happens, most of us hunters can relate. Not a good feeling. You guys are so patient and work so hard to make it happen. I have much respect! Looking forward to the next episode!!
These are my favorite episodes to watch. These kids deserve the opportunity to be able to enjoy something that they would never be able to do. Thank you to Cory and Donnie for taking their time to give back to the kids. Thank you to all the sponsors that help make it happen. Totally appreciate you for all you do so we are able to enjoy watching these episodes.
I know the feeling happen to me last year but I was able redeem my self this year. I feel like having it happen taught me a lot about patients and breathing at the moment. Can’t wait to see you put an arrow in him next episode 😉
Incredible hunt! Thanks for showing the hunts that don't go as planned. They are heartbreaking and like Corey said if you do this long enough it's going to happen. Thank you guys for being real and showing the true highs and lows of hunting.
So sad that people violate the rules and drive where they're not supposed to on public land. The land managers set those rules to protect the land and wildlife resources for all of us and some think they are above the law to the detriment of everybody. Sorry Corey for the non-fatal hit after being so close all day. Always look forward to y'all's content.
The high and lows of archery hunting! I appreciate you guys giving a full effort after. It seems that doesnt always happen and some are really quick to go with the ...well he is gonna make it. You gotta give it a big effort!
I’d love to see an in the zone episode on how y’all moved around this bull and how your plan changed through the day. You mentioned walking over 7 miles to keep the wind in your favor but he didn’t move a lot. It’s so hard not to go right after them and knowing what steps you go through would be super informational.
We're all human, right! Unfortunately, this is a reality that has happened to a lot of us. Forge on to the next hunt. Great episode and how about the great sponsors that make this happen.
Wow, what a day. I feel for you. It sure is awesome to watch you guys with that bull and the mountain thermals like that all day. Thank you for sharing the experience.
OMG what a hunt. What persistence. You guys are Awesome. Cory when you shot I jumped with joy. Then you came back saying you hit his 54:21 elbow. My heart sank. It ain't over yet. I hope you get back on him. Good Luck
Tough deal on that shot. Kudos to you Corey for waiting for a broadside shot and stopping him. Sounds like he lived to fight another day so hopefully you catch up with him later. Really liking the tones on your new grunt tube!
Wow, now that's the way I like to hunt elk. Spot & Stalk. Run & Gun. It's always into some action. And, this time, what a monster bull in the end. I really thought that was a good shot. The camera sure does answer allot of questions, as well as the arrow recovery. Again, what a huge bull to encounter at that range, incredible gentlemen. To be able to get that close to that large of a bull. I can respect all of the time and thinking that that went into just getting that close to a bull that size. I really wish that recovery had turned out better. I sware that the bull tipped, after he had stop. I guess that was a wishful feeling. Especially after an all-day chase like you 3 had. I thought John may have run out of O2 a couple of times trying to catch up with Corey. Great hunt Corey! Great Failure Analysis. We all go and grow through that shot. I truly believe that it makes us a better hunter. Another great episode. I can't hardly wait for the next 1!
Thank you Corey and Donnie for showcasing and discussing this reality of hunting. It’s truly a heartbreak and an emotion that you can’t explain until you go through it. We feel for you. Sometimes Murphy’s law is more present than we would like it to be. All we can do is continue to be persistent in our pursuit!
I wish the usfs would start enforcing the road closures. It’s so frustrating to hike a few miles in and have utv’s drive past. Great hunt and thanks for showing us that even you make a bad shot every once in awhile.
Losing an animal is absolutely tough. This is accurate the longer you do it, especially with a bow in your hand. The reality of losing one creates the sickness, heartache, and the what ifs or what did I do wrong instead of what do I need to do next time. Also spot-on with the obligation we have to the animal for an ethical and moral decision to make on ensuring we do everything in our power to make the shot, and if we don’t, we do everything we can to recover. Can’t wait for redemption and next week’s episode!
Way to stay after it after the ATV went by. I have found the Elk just shut up after something like that and that days hunting is basically over. You guys covered some territory going after that guy. Way to go in getting the Bull to come in and all your persistence going after him. Sorry that the ending wasn't what you wanted. I have felt that pain. Thanks for showing the real deal all the time in your hunts.
That is a tough feeling. Glad you were able to put eyes and ears on him the next day. Making a mental note to be a little more persistent. I'm sure I would have given up on that bull thinking I could never catch up to him.
I love all these videos!! Great hunts, great lessons learned. I just became a RMEF life member today!!! Signed up at The Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg PA. If you’ve never been to that show you need to make a trip East! If you do, I’ll be there in hopes of being able to meet you guys. Keep up the great work.
Not the outcome anyone wants , but you’re blessed to be there and experience the chasing of a magnificent animal. You’re very fortunate. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.
Oh the joys of hunting public land. So unpredictable. I thought you made a good shot and like the fact you followed up. Showing empathy for your prey is a great form of respect. Thanks for sharing with us.
Good on you for owning the shot Corey. Anybody who has been archery hunting long enough has had this happen. It sucks when it does but we live and learn!
this is a great footage, shows the reality of the whole thing and also amazing how you are able to stay on him all the day, that was a really nice bull.
That was a great hunt, sad to see you didn’t get the bull but that’s all part of any hunt, you did your best to try to get another chance at him . Thanks to all the sponsors for making these videos possible
A great demonstration of perseverance. Great to watch this scenario play out. So many times I feel people do not take the time to pursue at this level.
Dang it. Those always hurt. Goes to prove no one is exempt. How you rebound from that is the difference maker. What makes people like us special is the gravity that we feel in a situation like that. Can't wait to watch you pick back up and finish strong!
The "entitlement" of those who ride behind close roads is so very frustrating- but becoming more common everywhere you hunt. As much as it sucks- at least you know it was non fatal and he will easily fully recover from your shot. So much better than thinking you had a great shot and end up losing him- been there and done that once!
Great Hunt!! My hunting partner and I where in Gunnison unit 55 and one morning we were fixing to leave camp and go up top when an atv came right through our camp on a walking trail. No atv's allowed. Needless to say we were upset. Great Memories, Some are better than others!! God Bless!!
So cool to follow you guys around all day literally looking over your shoulder as you go. And having that much interaction with the same bull all day is crazy. Looking forward to visiting with you guys next weekend in SLC.
Dang, great chase! Bummer, but it happens. That's why we practice, practice, prqctice... even with all that practice things still happen. Thanks for the great video and talk.
Great sounding bugles aren't always great big elk. However you guys always pull it off, even with the dad jokes ! I look forward to every new video. Glad to see Elk 101 back on !!! Keep it
Definitely not the way I wanted to see that end but at the same time, like you said archery is a game of inches. I'm glad I got to see it because it shows that it really does happen to the best of us.
Man I for sure thought you was going to have a dead bull this episode! What an awesome encounter, and such a bummer! Looking forward to the next episode!
Man I feel for you Corey, that is a hard one to live with. But the big positive that I see is it sure looks like the bull will be ok. Unfortunately if we put enough time in, over our bow hunting years hard situations can happen.
Corey you're going to have to have Donnie teach you how to shoot further back. He gets them to die in 70 yards or so. Tough hunt you worked very hard to get to that point in the hunt. Sorry for the way it turned out. Great content as always. Keep them coming
Same thing happens all the time here in Montana, but I enjoy talking to ATV hunters, they always wonder where the game went to! Forest Service needs to enforce unauthorized vehicle use with hefty fines!
Awesome video! I am excited for the next episode to see if you can find him again. I could not imagine the feeling of not making the right shot. I have not yet taken a shot. 2024 is the year I am working to fill my first elk.
For a second there I thought 💭 that I was going to send a congratulations on a hard earned downed bull. But with that extreme angle 📐 situation you were so close yet so far away. Happens to all of us. I’m glad that he was up running doing elk things.
Went to Colorado 4 times now OTC public land. Missed bulls the first 2 years just absolutely too shaken up. Hit one the 3rd but couldn't find him. I was sick and skipped the next year. Went back last year and killed a nice 5x5 on the first afternoon. Still hurts that I wounded the one but I think it made me make a better shot on the next one.
Well said Corey, If we hunt long enough we’re gonna loose an animal and even though we’ve made a good shot or a not so good one, it still hurts. It’s all about respect for the animals that we hunt and without that respect, we might as well stop hunting and pick up another hobby. Shake it off Corey and Good Luck 🍀 on the next Bull!
So glad Destination Elk is back on. It's been a tough year so far. Had a pretty bad accident at work and had to have part of my foot amputated, then my wife left me. Turns out she's lacktoes intolerant 😢.

Having lost an elk before it's the worst feeling! Love your videos!
Corey, that"s a really tough deal but you handled it like a champ and did all you could. Zero judgement here. That's hunting. 👍
I know the feeling happen to me last year but I was able redeem my self this year. I feel like having it happen taught me a lot about patients and breathing at the moment. Can’t wait to see you put an arrow in him next episode 😉
Absolute heart breaker. When I saw the arrow hit in real time. I thought done deal. I’ve been there.
Great hunt and great calling.
Thanks for sharing.
Man almost!!! Dandy of a bull there!!! Those moments are hard to get over for sure! Glad to hear he's still a screamin tho👍
Incredible hunt! Thanks for showing the hunts that don't go as planned. They are heartbreaking and like Corey said if you do this long enough it's going to happen. Thank you guys for being real and showing the true highs and lows of hunting.

Way to show the realities of hunting, particularly archery hunting. Great story telling lads.
It happens! If it was always easy and perfect, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun! Thanks for showing the highs and lows!
I’d love to see an in the zone episode on how y’all moved around this bull and how your plan changed through the day. Wow, what a day. I feel for you. It sure is awesome to watch you guys with that bull and the mountain thermals like that all day. Thank you for sharing the experience.
Great example of how to hunt pressured elk. I can learn a lot here. More like this one please. Thanks for the post.
OMG what a hunt. What persistence. You guys are Awesome. Cory when you shot I jumped with joy. Then you came back saying you hit his 54:21 elbow. My heart sank. It ain't over yet. I hope you get back on him. Good Luck
Chasing Elk! That is exactly what you show! The chase is on!
That was a hell of a hunt. Unfortunate ending but incredible calling and maneuvering on a great bull.
Tough deal on that shot. Kudos to you Corey for waiting for a broadside shot and stopping him. Sounds like he lived to fight another day so hopefully you catch up with him later. Really liking the tones on your new grunt tube!
I can’t wait to see the elk call news. I’m guessing it has to do with y’all’s new bugle tubes.
That was a great chase. I'm enjoying the long version of watching only you guys this year vs the short version of 5 different hunt teams.
Wow, now that's the way I like to hunt elk. Spot & Stalk. Run & Gun. It's always into some action. And, this time, what a monster bull in the end. I really thought that was a good shot. It happens. Learn, grieve and move on. That bull was rutting cows the next day. You guys are studs!

Great video and lots of action. Loving the series so far. So close on that bull, it happens to the best of us unfortunately.
It's amazing how you guys pinpoint the Elks location when they sound off. Really enjoy these videos 😊
Love the style persistence unique im learning proud of you guys my favorite team
That is a tough feeling. Glad you were able to put eyes and ears on him the next day. Making a mental note to be a little more persistent. I'm sure I would have given up on that bull thinking I could never catch up to him.
Great hunt, take it with the highs and lows. They only make you stronger, and a little bit smarter.
Man! I feel sick for you Corey! That was a beautiful bull! I'm glad it wasn't a fatal shot. It really does give relief.
I love all these videos!! Great hunts, great lessons learned. I just became a RMEF life member today!!! Signed up at The Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg PA. Experience and knowledge! Great video again and man that camera man is crushing it!
Not the outcome anyone wants , but you’re blessed to be there and experience the chasing of a magnificent animal. You’re very fortunate. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.
Dang. What a tough break. Gorgeous bull.
Thank you for showing all the ups & downs, along with showing us how to work the wind correctly.
Oh the joys of hunting public land. So unpredictable. I thought you made a good shot and like the fact you followed up. Showing empathy for your prey is a great form of respect. Thanks for sharing with us.

sad, but comforting to know that it wasn't just me this season...thanks for sharing the reality and the reflections of that scenario.
Such a great video, I was on the edge of my seat!
Thanks for taking us along 👍
A great demonstration of perseverance. Great to watch this scenario play out. So many times I feel people do not take the time to pursue at this level.

Another great one guys! Thank you for all you do to bring us great entertainment.

Man that's a bummer but anybody who hunts long enough will find out that stuff like that happens.
Great hunt! My legs hurt just watching! Love the show!
That's a tough one no doubt, but something we have to deal with as hunters. What an incredible hunt though! All I can say is wow!
Great Hunt!! My hunting partner and I where in Gunnison unit 55 and one morning we were fixing to leave camp and go up top when an atv came right through our camp on a walking trail. No atv's allowed. Needless to say we were upset. Great Memories, Some are better than others!! God Bless!!
Appreciate the footage showing your patience and consistency.

Dang, great chase! Bummer, but it happens. That's why we practice, practice, prqctice... even with all that practice things still happen. Thanks for the great video and talk.
Ok that was one of the best videos to watch your game play… what a cool hunt!
By my book y’all did everything right to get a opportunity at the bull. Well done guys. I’m loving the Videos.
No two hunts are alike! Great hunt and editing….thanks!!!
Great sounding bugles aren't always great big elk.
However you guys always pull it off, even with the dad jokes !
I look forward to every new video.
Glad to see Elk 101 back on !!!
Keep it
I have a feeling you'll still get him
Well done Cory. You explained it very well.
Definitely not the way I wanted to see that end but at the same time, like you said archery is a game of inches. I'm glad I got to see it because it shows that it really does happen to the best of us.
Great scenery!
Man I for sure thought you was going to have a dead bull this episode! What an awesome encounter, and such a bummer! Looking forward to the next episode!
Great hunt guys . That was a great set up on big beautiful bull😮
It happens man! The best thing you can do which you guys did is to keep pursuing him!
That Elk getting away was hard to watch.
Tuff outcome Corey. Keep on keepin on and know for sure I will be here next episode cheering you on.
Great show! Great hunt!
Man I feel for you Corey, that is a hard one to live with. But the big positive that I see is it sure looks like the bull will be ok.
Unfortunately if we put enough time in, over our bow hunting years hard situations can happen.
Way to keep your head up! Hope on the next episode you get another crack at that same bull! Can’t wait
So glad your back on I love you guys and your great videos always interesting and love the ol dad jokes
Corey you're going to have to have Donnie teach you how to shoot further back. He gets them to die in 70 yards or so. Tough hunt you worked very hard to get to that point in the hunt. Sorry for the way it turned out. Great content as always. Keep them coming
So tough! It's a game of inches sometimes. Great stalk and hunt!
Always great real life hunting... and yes, those sting... and just add to the challenge of bowhunting. Thanks for showing real life.
Perseverance! Great hunt
What a video!!!!!!!!!
Good video, it’s a tough one ,, memories are not allways sweet but it makes us who you are!
Same thing happens all the time here in Montana, but I enjoy talking to ATV hunters, they always wonder where the game went to! Forest Service needs to enforce unauthorized vehicle use with hefty fines!
Keep up the good work to all who is involved of making dv6
Man that was some great cat & mouse, that sure was a heart breaking shot. Way to keep yourself up lifted Cory I know after that shot it's hard.
We had a truck bust a giant out from under us this last season too. Get out and hike folks!!!
If you hunt long enough, it happens to everyone! Just gotta hunt harder after it happens to right the ship!
Glad you could tell he’s still alive and rutting, but tough to miss a shot.
Gota love that sound!
Can't wait for this...lol let's Go 💪👊
Thats bow huntin boys great video cant wait for the next one
Awesome video! I am excited for the next episode to see if you can find him again. I could not imagine the feeling of not making the right shot. I have not yet taken a shot. 2024 is the year I am working to fill my first elk.
This was an amazing hunt. Sorry the ending wasn’t as planned. Mature elk are hard to kill. You guys make a great team.
Enjoy watching you guys. Hopefully make it in next couple years to hunt Idaho.
Tough loss, they don't go away. You guys cover a lot of ground. Watching these as you release. Hope no one reveals anything! 😂
For a second there I thought 💭 that I was going to send a congratulations on a hard earned downed bull. But with that extreme angle 📐 situation you were so close yet so far away. Happens to all of us. I’m glad that he was up running doing elk things.

Talk about the circle back bull!!!
