My dad is Latinx and my mom is Asian so I totally understand where you're coming from about the languages... we only spoke English together in the home because that was the only language we could all communicate with.
This is not a criticism of Susan at all (each parent decides what's important to them), just a comment for anyone watching - if your child's speech and language therapist gives advice to just drop the minority language, and you wish to continue please make sure they are informed about bilingualism. The idea simply to drop the second language is pretty old school and there are much more informed practices around this, for example speaking later for multi lingual children is not considered a delay, it's a normal part of THAT type of language acquisition.
It means a lot to me to see a fellow mixed woman offering advice and input on life and love and heading into my thirties. I am half Uruguayan, half white (shout out to Punta del Este!) and it just gives me chills sometimes to see you so successful and happy. Makes me see what's possible. xx
I want to add that you hit the nail on the head. As a POC I think growing up around other races and cultures is extremely beneficial bc you grow up seeing things from a different perspective. My friends in school were Albanian, Japanese, Puerto Rican, etc and bc of that I see the world different vs being raised in community where everyone looked exactly like me! ❤

I love the libido question! I never hear women talk about this, my situation is more like yours. I feel like there is something wrong with me bc my libido dropped since having my babies, two girls 6 and 2. It’s a big insecurity that i struggle with daily. I thought I was alone with it, thanks for talking about it Susan

I am thirty and pregnant with my first and it was the same for me: my husband has always wanted to be a dad, he didn't want to pressure me but I was starting to feel the longer I waited the less ready I would be! Paris and Venice are great but I think we need to promote underrated places like Eastern Europe Poland, and Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia. I love the laid back culture of Poland.
I have hypothyroidism for 18 years now and it was a struggle to get blood test every 6 weeks just to get my medication right. I pretty much eat anything in moderation. Yes, its mostly psychological when it comes to craving so I just eat but moderate.

Being a mom is the most scary thing in the world. Bringing a person in this world is a huge responsibility. I am afraid that something will be off about them and they turn out horrible people 😐 I watch too many real crime shows 😐

It's really sad because recent academic studies have shown that bilingualism does **not** actually cause speech delay, contrary to popular belief :-( . This misinformation is so wide-spread and damaging. Such a shame your speech therapist would recommend not using Spanish when it is so advantageous for children to learn a second language at a young ago.
@@SusanYara I see why the therapist would say that, it is just a shame because it sounds like you and your husband were committed to helping him learn Spanish at a young age and that would've been so neat for him. My husband is a Spanish professor and he sees first hand how tough it is to pick up languages later in life so it makes me sad whenever I hear good parents be discouraged from introducing more than one language at a time.
The same goes for other countries, there are so many different languages that are spoken. My best childhood friends fathers family is from Afghanistan and her family speaks Farsi, which isn’t even one of the two official languages of that country. It’s so interesting!

Where in Spain did you study? And did your mom speak Korean with you and your sisters? Edit: I also feel like I came into my own in my 30s, but it happened rather late, at 37. That's when I finally started feeling like I knew who I was and also (more importantly, perhaps) how to engage with others.

No one said it was causing the speech delay. It was recommended we focus on one language first since he wasn’t picking up either.
