Congratulations Shereene...for what it's worth, your videos, messages about taking care of ourselves, etc. have made a difference, I'm sure, in so many of our lives. My 13 year old son is on the autistic spectrum. (I have a 15 year old son, too!) I went from being a working Mom who still looked cute and sassy to immersing myself in caring for my son and making sure he had all of the supports he needed. Along the way, I completely lost sight of myself..gained 80 lbs. and stopped taking care of myself. I started watching your videos in mid-2020, and thought to myself, "I can do this...I can take better care of my skin." Well, that created a ripple effect of self-care in my life. Skin care turned into putting make-up back on on a regular basis....which turned into putting together cute outfits that I felt good in.. which turned in to my buying the beach cruiser bike that I have wanted for decades and getting some exercise. All because I watched your PM skin care routine video. I am thrilled for you! Now, I need some fillers around my nose and mouth! Much love and gratitude to you!

I’ve heard similar stories from a friend who is now studying to get her PhD. The people around you can be jealous. The people you’re employed by can be ruthless and the world can be cold. Without love, without supporting one another, it’s even more difficult. All the more reason to keep believing in yourself, be kind to others, and help to support others around you. Do not be a part of the destructive culture, but strive to see the truth and good in everyone. Thanks for sharing your story, Shereene 💞.

Medicine is not an easy journey. I'm an IMG and struggling to get through exams. I feel intimidated after failing an exam and having to rewrite. No one understands the fight doctors go through to get to where they are. This video did help me and I hope that my journey can go forth. I'm quite vocal like yourself and I hope once I pass an exam something can open up. I'm glad you're free for your own space and goodluck for your journey ahead. I'm glad you have a partner. I'm 34 in October and it's really hard not knowing anything is certain in all realms of my life. I'm single and I'm still like thinking what will happen. You're a role model and I hope I can find the same success in the future. Congratulations.

You're so brave and selfless to share this with us. I have been anxiously waiting for weeks to hear the buzz. This made me honestly cry with you because I've had jobs try to hold me back and say that what I do was "theirs..." and that my voice wasn't worth it. From them, I learned an invaluable lesson which you mentioned: how I didn't want people around me to be treated. I left those jobs and went back to school so I could do what my heart and mind tells me to do. Foward a few years, and I'm graduating from college next year as the first in my family to have not only one but two degrees. You are your own superhero. Yes. We are.
I wish you nothing less than to follow your dreams and never waver regardless of circumstance. Follow your heart and passions. Your charisma and no-nonsense honesty towards people are what drew me in, you genuinely care about how people attain and obtain knowledge and that's power. I want to see you succeed. Our children make us work to show them the world we need them to believe in; not what the world is really like. Mila's mom's a badass and a boss.
Anyways, Congratulations, and may you always keep that spark, Doc. We're rooting for you!!! Pave the way!

Thank you so much for sharing from your heart. That bully practice also taught you what not to do, say or be like for such a time as this. You have been promoted because you dared to believe in your higher self. A quote from Maya De Angelou, "There's a rainbow in the clouds." You followed your rainbow to the destiny that you realized today. My eldest daughter shared a very similar journey as yours and she cries as you do in gratitude for the successful confident woman she has become of her own volition. She has acheived the highest goals she set for herself working from the bottom of the ladder to the very top, where she remains & is a role model. You are helping more ppl than you know.

Dear Shereene, I am about 10 years older then you but each and every word you say resonate with me quite extensively. Indeed there are people who will take your hard work and present as their achievements, they will try to steal your ideas just because they can or feel that it's the right way. The most beautiful part in it is, that you have the knowledge and the expertise. They not. Those events in life make you, us all, stronger and step by step more determined in what we do and who we are. As you said there is enough success for everyone out there. However it takes the courage, which many times you have manifested, to stand up and have your core values and beliefs to keep your voice there and loud. I am for A) very proud for who you are and even more for who you are not for B) very thankful because even being thousands miles away. Your advices helped to solve several skin issues. Congratulations, you have achieved amazing milestone. Thank you for your trust in us. Love Darina 😘

Thank you for sharing, thank you for your vulnerability and thank you for all the skincare knowledge you bestow us.

you, Shereene, present as a strong, decent, intelligent and aware person ... your story is the outline for many, while the elements are different and momentarily heartbreaking ... you are completely inspiring to all, but especially for those who are on the verge of giving up or have already done so... I have moments when I don't feel like the fighter I am, but I just know I am - you proved yourself to yourself and without question... I know that I commented on another of your videos regarding what you shared about your journey .... over the past couple of weeks I've been watching your videos where you express amazement that you are close to 100k subscribers, when in fact you are now at 676k ... I've found you more than two years into your youtube journey and you've ignited my enthusiasm for this entire subject which I first became interested in and consciously practiced from 43 years ago - thanks to my mother who believed in good quality skincare on a daily basis...

Dr Shereen, thank you so much for sharing your story, you have made me emotional as I myself have also after a 10 yr career journey also finally gotten out of a place where I was told i'm not the sort of person they are looking for to promote to the next level and have been rejected so many times and finally after getting pregnant, after maternity leave and about to start work again for the very first time after 11 mths with my first born son I have successfully landed the role in another workplace that has told me I'm worth it :) I share your pain and joy. Onwards and upwards for us ladies xoxo sending lots of love and light x

Thanks for bravely sharing, and for being an inspiration. x ❤️🇨🇦

Dr. Idriss, I am a 55 years old woman researching skincare and accidentally came across your video and clicked on it simply because it was a pleasant face to look at. I have been hooked since then. It was about 2 weeks ago and I can't get enough of you. Btw.I am not crazy but your personality, your beauty, your voice , your openness amazed me. I would never have thought you have any insecurities and would like to thank you for sharing this video. I just realized right now you are very much reminded of my little sister. Your face shape your nose your hair like my sister. I don't even talk about the insane amount of knowledge you share but to look at how many subscribers you have already says a lot about you. And maybe some of them are following Dr.Idriss but the majority of them are following and falling in love with SHEREENE ...if you know what I mean ✨💖✨

Who knew being a doctor was like being an opera singer!? 99% of your career is being rejected. We call them PFO's [please f&%$k off]. It's not about being the best voice in the room, the most beautiful, the most talented. It is being in the right place at the right time and just go go going! Thank you for your video. No matter what field, it's all all requires you to work your BUTT OFF.

Aw Dr. Idriss... I consider you a mentor even though I don't have a personal relationship with you. I'm an esthetician and I became an esthetician because I wanted to start a business that helps people feel good about themselves that would pay my way through a Mol-Cell undergrad program and hopefully med school and residency. I became really focused on the skincare side of esthetics because some of the things they were teaching me in training were not congruent with what I know from my science education background and that is where I'm at right now starting a business that offers skincare/ routine consultations that show/helps clients to better select at-home products that work better for their goals and hopefully reduce their spending in skincare. From the very first video I watched on your channel I knew that you would be a valuable resource for me because what you were saying rang true. I think you're smart kind and funny and an amazing educator, scientist, and professional. We are about the same age and I had my comeuppance in a different way than you but have experienced similar feelings while trying to reach my goals. It's great that you're sharing this because most med school hopefuls think it's so easy for everyone else and they're the only ones struggling. and no one tells you what to watch out for. so it's definitely a self-education process going through all that training that has that level of prestige. I'm so glad you came into your own because you are empowering me to form my business as well. and I no longer care what anyone thinks of this sidebar from my formal education because giving skincare advice and talking to people is an education in itself that other physicians in training won't have. Plus I won't have that crazy a$$ debt! anyway, I hope there's a really great glass of champagne for you tonight. you deserve it! Congratulations!!!!
PS. I've asked before and maybe this one will get through the barrage of comments you get and you'll read it. but what are your favorite Cosmeceutical, cosmetic dermatology, and cosmetic chemistry textbooks and reference books... Im about to build a sort of reference library and am wondering which ones you think are best. I'm not in med school yet so I don't have these but if I want to inform my clients well I need to do more reading.

I don’t know who is crying more you or I ? I needed this video so much. I had for a very long time this principle..believe in yourself..don’t allow others to bully you..self esteem etc etc.,until some time ago it seemed the world conspired against me..it took me a long time and no support to start rebuilding myself...but it is hard..so I give up sometimes..I am much older than you..but you reminded me about how much we all, humans, are similar..how much we can learn from each other, inspire each other, support each other.
Thank you and all the best..my mother was a doctor and I remember how difficult it was for her to establish her own practice.❤️
