This Shuffle Course is MASSIVE!! So many cool things to work on...Great breakdowns and demonstrations. Love the historical insights too! SMDA is da place!! 🥁🥁😎🥁😎🥁😎😎
All those drum sets in the background are so beautiful! I like your note about playing the quarter notes with the right hands/ Thanks for the great tips!
I've always felt shuffles were the loss art of drumming. Everybody thinks Blues or Stevie ray or BB king but there are so many great applications for shuffles. Thank you Stanton!!!
@studakins, To me the paradiddle diddle-diddle and the 6 stroke roll are essentially the same thing started in a different place, so in a way, yes! But that's actually a paradiddle-diddle started on the upbeat (the third triplet partial). So RLRRLL, RLRRLL but started on the upbeat. Hope that helps, SM
your shuffle, especially in the intro, doesn't sit perfectly on the 'triplet grid'. Instead it leans towards regular 16ths. I personally don't like the sound of that
@@Justus8 You’re exactly right, and I talk about that in the video. I personally love that. The hardest swinging shuffles I’ve ever heard lean towards 16ths. Art Blakey and Herlin Riley are great examples. My shuffle is highly influenced by them.🙌🏼
Brilliant lesson Stanton. My Shuffle's going for a major level up🤙🏽💯🥁
Brilliant. Thank you

Amazing lesson! Thank you so much! And My GOD, THOSE DRUMS BEHIND YOU ARE DELICIOUS!
Great thoughts on here with the bass accent. I run students through the same ride patterns with this

Just curious, is that a six stroke roll fill coming outta the groove in the intro?
