Waiting for years for my breakthrough moment - just found it. This series has revolutionized my playing. Opened a whole new world - cannot recommend highly enough
@@chsemaphor Yeh I was probably a bit over the top with that comment - but over the last year or two Ive felt my playing was more mechanical than musical. im no great drummer just a very average suburban sort who uses paradiddles a lot. Going through the exercises on this released a ton of creativity around the kit and for the first time I could feel the musicality of what I was playing- thats what I meant by "new world'" I liken it to a classical musician who has just found the freedom of Jazz perhaps. It could be that it was just the next stage in my natural development as a player but it just happened to be the key that unlocked it all
This guy is excellent. I’m so glad I found Stanton. He’s playing and teaching exactly what I want to learn and play in a way I can understand and keep up with. Excellent videos! Will sign up for his classes.
Phenomenal instruction and outstanding playing. More importantly, this straightforward methodology of expanding upon a simple idea through changes in voicing demonstrates that any sticking pattern can lead a drummer down so many interesting routes. Stanton shows that you really can get Moore for Less! :-)
wow.... i am going to use this to freshen up so old groves. Thank you so much for this video... Application of stickings are more important than the stickings... and wonderful stories!
You can hear your beautiful hands so clearly when you play zig’s rlrl as the check pattern in hey pocky way and then go into the Johnny v thing. For someone just learning this stuff, getting those two patterns to cycle and feel the same is a gateway to really zone out on, if anyone out there is working on this stuff too. Dude, your flow is so inspiring!
Needed an uptempo swampy train beat with a bit of swing for a tune, this has been a great sticking to mix into a standard train beat and has really livened up the track. Great lessons Stanton!
