2003 - 2011 Saab 9-3 2.0T Engine computer ECU fail - P0245, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204 no start

Symptoms: engine runs rough, bogs, check engine light on, cranks but won't start.
Buy a used ECU on eBay. Part number is not important as long as the used part was removed from a Saab 9-3 with 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder engine. Don't bother with rebuild services - they do not work.
You'll need a newer laptop - less than 3 years old - that can process the data faster than older laptops

Instructions:
Download trionic can flasher - use Firefox browser
Install obdwiz and driver on your laptop, write down comm port from setting
Erase all existing fault codes from the failed ECU
Turn ignition to ON, connect OBDLink cable to car OBD port
1: start trioniccanflasher on your laptop, select T8 and your interface
2: read ecu content from the original ecu (name file as T8 main and save it to a folder on your laptop)
3: select t8 MCP and read ecu again (name file as T8 MCP and save it to the same folder on your laptop)
TURN Ignition OFF and remove key
4: disconnect car battery and remove old ecu then install the new ecu, reconnect car battery (sorry I forgot to mention this in the video)
TURN ignition to ON
5: check advance settings in can flasher and make sure legion bootloader and unlock sys partitions are checked
6: select t8 MCP and flash that
7: select t8 and flash that

Very helpful video! I’m curious why you say the ECU rebuild service doesn’t work.
My Saab recently suddenly broke down and won’t restart. It ran fine and wouldn’t restart minutes after turning it off. Found a single P0204 code.

Hi. I would like to ask you. I "read ECU" main and mcp files. Do you see how small they are? Main.bin 1024kb, Main.md5 1kb, MCP.bin 257kb, MCP.md5 1kb. I tried to do "recover ECU" but it didn't work. I thought I could do something. When the engine went off on the road because I can't find any damage. I had an indicator on the brake lights and it shows nothing. Why; Do you know something?

Thank you for the video, did this fix solve the problem permanently or it come back again, I got some similar cases that need the injectors to be replaced as well before putting the rebuild ECU.

Very helpful. I tried this, but one issue I am having is my new ECU seems to be pared to my car correctly, except it starts the car as soon as I turn it to "on" instead of all the way to "start". Do you think I wrote something incorrectly?

I never had this issue. Sounds like your ignition switch could be the problem.

Yes. This program will erase the old data and write new data from your failed ECU.

This procedure should duplicate all the settings from the old ECM to the replacement

My Saab is in the shop and they told me they can't help me..at first I was having a fuel delivery issue..so they replaced my starter,put in new fuel pump,they checked my injectors and said they are good..was getting a p0300 but even with all that done my car cranks but won't start unless using some type of starter fluid but then it will cut off in a few seconds..they said I need a new ECU,do you think that is the problem?also I am getting spark

make a demo read / flashing man against shoing icons on the ont e sceeen . maybe for gadget installer you are good but for teacher this is hopless..Most of time your camera is of subject too
