I agree. This guy is going to do well in life, he has *just enough* of that “brain -> mouth filter” to keep himself out of trouble, and he’s still able to get his point across perfectly. Few individuals possess this trait.
I agree also. He doesn’t give up, and is persistent on his point. It is a quality that many people want to have; Being able to speak that way. He was confident in his opinion, about the staff, and officials at his school, and wasn’t afraid to say it. I don’t have a opinion about the school, since I didn’t go there, but I do have a good and positive opinion on how he shows his side, and doesn’t stop until it’s through.
Roman Shank a leader leads by example and has followers. His only path he will take is where that diploma takes him. He just makes problems for those that blessed him. If he is a leader then follow him and cry like a baby about your job. Noone in real life will have sympathy.
Mario If what he was saying is true, then it was likely brought up before and ignored before. The kids did not “have their day ruined”, they cheered him on. You can hear it in the clip. If he ruined it for anyone it was for the people who obstructed his education. He specifically said a *few* faculty members. If you went to a school like this you’d know that the chill teachers know what was going on and they traded stories about the faculty’s bullshit throughout the year.
Mario To be really honest they booed when faculty came to stage. When people look back on graduation day they dont just think about the day. They think about the entire high school experience, clearly he is not alone in how he feels. Not with the crowd or with the comments section. It’s not about “sticking it to them” it’s about making your voice heard since this undoubtably came up before, and you saw how they handle criticism. You are just assuming this event is the only thing that occurred and nobody tried anything else. You ever try and complain to your teachers that the principal is a xanax addicted lunatic? “yeah the principals a dick but she’s my boss what can I do?” Talk to your super intendant “yeah we had problems with her but we dont have jurisdiction to do that” Talk to your principal directly “Wow I can’t believe someone like this works here! We will get to the bottom of this immediately” True story “If you didn’t like school you should have just dropped out” The school system failed you if you believe one should just leave when people are mistreated or quit when things are hard. As though that is even an option to begin with. If you can do something to make a positive difference you do it. What is the point of school if you dont believe that?
Mario Incorrect. You can clearly hear them saying “let him speak” it’s obvious that the other students feel the same and it’s admirable that he brings these issues to everyone’s attention with that platform that he has as Valedictorian. There is also in my opinion no better time to bring these issues to light than graduation day where all the students and faculty are present. Cutting him off only proved what he was trying to say in the first place as well.
I hope you are right, but you comment and 541 likes as of now isn't enough. Fight to those that made the mic cut and fear possible. Make it loud, make it heard...! Please!!!

All the schools i had went too in Virginia were the exact same way. It was do as you are told or ill get ahold of the principal or your parents. It wasnt reall an evironment that inspired students to have fun learning and exercising their strengths. I heard the "youre not here to have fun, youre here to learn" line ALL TOO OFTEN and hated it.
Wait, schools are actually like this? I went to a private school where it was very much the opposite. Obviously, there were ground rules, but as long as you were following them and getting your work done, you could do basically whatever. Like you could go to the gym and play dodgeball with whatever class was in there, or you could go play on the playground, even high schoolers. You could do whatever as long as it wasn't breaking the school rules and you didn't go off school grounds. The teachers taught us well, but they treated us like friends instead of students, so no one really ever rebelled or did something crazy. I don't know if that type of teaching works for everyone, but I mean, my class average was always around 95%, so I think it worked out well for us.

@@jca_ Well that's actually up for debate. They say they are a private company, however, they also want the benefits for being a public platform. A public platform has immunities for the things said and done on that platform, but a private company / publisher doesn't (which is why publishers have the right to monitor and delete posts). RUclips, Insta, and Facebook try to ride a middle ground where they're both a private company/publisher and a forum, but that is wrong and stupid because you can't restrict the things people say on a public platform nor can you not be held reliable in the case that illegal videos are posted onto a publisher's site.

Mario
If what he was saying is true, then it was likely brought up before and ignored before.
Mario
To be really honest they booed when faculty came to stage.

Mario Incorrect. You can clearly hear them saying “let him speak” it’s obvious that the other students feel the same and it’s admirable that he brings these issues to everyone’s attention with that platform that he has as Valedictorian. Cutting him off only proved what he was trying to say in the first place as well.
