    In martial arts, footwork is very important. The farther along one gets in training, you'll find the greater sensitivity you have towards the dynamics of walking and placement of balance. This, obviously, expands into how to walk more silently, more stealthily for Ninjutsu training, but it all has a foundation in movement and how to move well.
    One thing you can explore, just from a basic perspective, is when you are walking, walk slowly in the beginning and practice placing your toes and the ball of your foot down before you actually place the heel down and walk shifting your weight slowly, picking your knee up, placing the toes down, almost like you're going to place your toes onto a rug or into some grass, under some leaves, and then letting the weight come down slowly onto your heel. Practice shifting that weight and explore how you can move more efficiently your balance between one foot and the other using this type of movement.
    You'll find that as you get better and better at this that you're more aware of how to walk and to be more silent. There is just a little bit about how to walk in martial arts and in Ninjutsu.

    • @PsyArkron
      @PsyArkron 7 лет назад +36

      If you walk up or down the stairs, only put weight on the sides. If your stairs aren't that wide, you can shift from one side to the other as you walk down. If they are wide, just try to stick to one side.
      As for a rooms floor, walking near the walls as Lawrence mentioned helps.
      Also if it's your floor at home or in general places you walk on often, try to remember which planks make the noise and simply avoid those.
      It's all about being aware of the ground you walk on.

    The value comes not from the walking but from the ability to shift your weight and control your steps. I can run up stairs without making a sound by jumping, absorbing shock, shifting weight, and control of momemtum. The same applies here but a lot more simple. Practice could turn that into running silently, jumping silently, and whatever it is anyone does. In any martial arts control is key, this is an extension of that.

    This was for walking on the tatami mats in a Japanese house. They would be breaded a certain way so as you walk on them they make a shuffling noise. So they created this walking method to walk along pressed against the wall trying to avoid the mats and trying to find places that would cause a "creak" sound. Your heel along the outside of your foot to your toes is for outside. Go ahead crouch down as low as you can and try to walk like this, tell me how far you get. There are so many other ways to do this. Just read the Bensenshukai, shinonki, or ninpidin.

Because of that I can walk very quietly and as a side effect my body memorizes the sounds each board of wood makes, so I instinctively know which steps to take. Prodigy Because it's like being taught English by a French man. You'd much rather learn English from a native speaker. The concept of a ninja originates from Japan, so you'd assume the person who knowns about it would have some forms of connection to the country, rather than some second hand knowledge from an American.

    • @hezechiahjones8365
      @hezechiahjones8365 6 лет назад +3

      That's not the problem. I'm aware this isn't a walk exclusive to ninja's. It's also used by hunters to not spook animals. The problem is that he's advertising his teachings as ninjutsu despite having no obvious connections to the country. You'd be expecting to learn a skill from someone who has a strong connection to that skill. You wouldn't want to learn carpentry from someone who learned a couple of things from attending a class for a week if you also had the option to learn from someone who has been doing carpentry for their whole life.

    So today was my step dad's father's birthday party and they decide to celebrate at our house, I accidentally overslept and wasn't able to sing Happy Birthday and I've been trying to avoid everyone by staying in my room and I got hungry but I didn't want to be seen so I waited until 2am. Now I'm trying to find ways to sneak into the kitchen and eat some cake.

    Here's how to walk silently around your house:
    1. Wear socks. Fleshy feet will cause quite a bit of sound.
    2. Walk on the edge of stairs. People usually walk in the middle, and that creates wear and tear, and creaky floorboards.
    3. Memorize creaky spots. With stairs it's simple. With floors, not so much. You'll have to memorize where it creaks.

    My grandpa use to say that the old Natives use to walk different than the European way which is plantigrade..Heel to toe..The old one..the ancestors walked very similar naturally as you have demonstrated..Their everyday walk.It was to walk lightly with very high steps..Which was to place the foot not toe to heel but more of bringing it down with no certain first contact point..Toe heel was pretty much how indigenous people did it but to know when to stop and when to move..If the enemy is distracted or staying slightly to the the side of which you see them turn their head..Using your peripheral vision was very important..If you can't see the ground your feet feels for twigs or anything to alert them.

    I have always been told that i walk like a cat. I have many times walked past my mom in the kitchen casually looking for something to eat standing right behind her
    and then she suddenly turns around screaming when she hears sound of a food container or something. And i always find it so easy to sneak up on people even if i dont intend to do so but i jumpscare them anyway cause its fun!

    • @mcgyverac9415
      @mcgyverac9415 8 лет назад

      +Mark II Supposedly this technique works on creaky wooden floors as well. If you shift your weight slowly, you could tell whether or not the wood will creak. If it will, then you shift your foot away from that position.

    • @dapzle3459
      @dapzle3459 8 лет назад +1

      +Mark II I tend to take wider steps and skip one or 2 steps whilst traversing up and down the stairs. although you should best experiment to see how your style of quiet is.
