This is a really effective trailer. A tense, high-tech opening showing off badass armaments including nuclear-friggn-warheads, creating a compelling scene. Then just when shit's about to get real, all that is swatted out of the air like gnats by the real message.
And what's the real message, you might ask? This is a game about Big. Fucking. Ships.

@@predator5775 I played it too and I loved it, until devs re-balanced everything making corvettes/frigates OP. They were so OP, that Dreadnoughts were easy pickings for them, when they original role was counter-long range and counter-heal, but they made it in to one "playable" ship, so I quit and never returned. It is sad, because that was the only MMO available about BIG SHIPS (except EVE, but EVE is different genere).

Even considering the age of this trailer, this is simply unmatched. BIG BIG kudos to the production team. I've watched this at least a hundred times; it still actually gives me goosebumps. Cleverly and competently written, beautifully rendered, superb and evocative score, details down to the bristling A10-like attack craft, the nose art, even the callout veracity on the opening screen. (Acknowlegement from the other craft would have made it utterly perfect, but perhaps the other two "jets" are non-recursive AIs.)But it's a crying shame it has absolutely NOTHING to do with actual gameplay.
Steve Jordan nope. Those are in the game. You can’t have them but you can fly them in one game mode. ( after your ship is destroyed ) game mode was elimination or something like that
See, it doesn't have anything to do with gameplay because this trailer is making a point: Size matters. There's enough games out there about small attack craft. This is not such a game.

❤😢 È decisamente strano rivedere oggi questo magnifico trailer a 5 giorni dalla chiusura dei server. Dreadnought aveva dei difetti come le code che andavano da pochi minuti ad oltre un'ora ed un sistema di crescita abbastanza lento considerando la durata media delle partite e le flotte dispiegate. Non si possono però negare i suoi pregi come le sue mappe e la possibilità di navigare in 3D, utilizzando la conformazione del terreno a proprio vantaggio, i bellissimi modelli delle navi e la possibilità di personalizzare con moduli diversi dal supporto aggressivo al one-man-army a patto di una gestione di risorse semplice, ma non banale. E tutto poteva funzionare❤. Anche la storia raccontata dalle descrizioni non era male e l'avrei voluta approfondire con il mio personaggio. Purtroppo non sono riuscito a giocare a questo titolo quanto avrei voluto😢 ed ora che non esiste più rimane solo un po' di nostalgia. Avrei anche accettato di vederlo inglobato in un gioco come Destiny2 pur di farlo evolvere, ma queste sono solo congetture.😢❤

So much potential, just never really got it's stride. It's such a shame, this and Fractured Space are the only actual "games" that made spaceships feel gigantic and heavy and full of people. Hopefully someday some dev gets the formula right

@@hiibyedie2547 How could they, when they focused only on frigates? After all all other classes were subpar to them, at least when I played this game. Also, they stoped developing the game at all. I looked at it some time ago (2 years perhaps?) and tech tree was the same as in the first day of launch (plus perhaps some 2 - 3 premium ships) and maps were, how to said it, too cramped for BIG ships (an their micro jumps).... So, RIP Dreadnought, you had potential, but your "parents" failed you, good bye.

God damn, the idea of this game was amazing back then. Single-player campaign with these massive behemoths? Would've been epic.

If this is like every other 'free to play' game, the little ships are the free players, and the big one that warps in and demolishes all of them is one piloted by a big spender.
nope, saw some gameplay on it, everyone gets a big battleship of some sort.
if they do the F2P model correctly, all the things you buy will be cosmetic (i.e. paint job, decoration, ect.) and nothing in the store should give "buffs" or "better ships"

Let me say yes it's just like wot and wows when it comes to exp and free exp but ever one plays the big ships. The whole game is based around the big capital ships. You play the small ones when you die in one of the game modes. I will say that in that game mode it's just like this trailer playing the small tiny fighters so try not to die in that game mode lol

When you think about it. When you first warp into battle over the map you are about to play and can chose what ship you want while waiting on other players. If you warp in with a dread you do smack a few small enemey fighters lmao

Maybe it's just me (because it's literally how you start every planetary match in-game) but doesn't executing a FTL Jump inside a planet's atmosphere sound like a TERRIBLE idea?
It depends on what FTL Tech you're using as well as its precision. In this case it looks like a mixture of Warp and Hyperspace technology. Hyperspace Tech is fine in atmospheres as you're just going to different plane of existence but Warp tech normally isn't due to the problems with slowing down but given that they're going through another plane, it's reasonable.
Kylee Smalley Well, of course it depends, but I'd imagine as a general rule of thumb the magnetic field of a planet could potentially mess up your jump calculations. There's also (In the case of warp tech or otherwise very fast movement) the atoms of the planet's atmosphere lancing through your ship or causing fusion.
Jacob Lucas Yup all of that is true, but I'm guessing that they found a way around that or to make it not a problem as the Corvette ship has the ability to teleport around like a mad man.
Kylee Smalley Yeah, I'd imagine they just have some kinda shield that keeps them from fusing or getting shot through with particles or whatnot. Looks cool as hell, at the least.

Another thing that's never taken into consideration with in-atmosphere warp jumps is that when you "appear" in normal space, whatever "space"/air is in that spot gets immediately pushed aside, which would create a sort of air-pressurized shockwave around the vessel, which would have done one of two things...the extreme, sudden pressure would have either pushed the aircraft in front of it out of it's wake, or it would have crushed the aerial vehicles upon entering normal space at that proximity, rather than simply impacting with them and destroying them...either way, they were dead.
An alternative to simply inserting the warping ship into an atmosphere (resulting in the issues you describe) is that the warp process might take one section of spacetime and exchange it for another in a different location. (i.e., an equivalent profile of air was removed from the planet and placed exactly where the warping ship had been.) Sadly, there's no way of doing or even testing this yet AFAIK.
If this is how it works, warping itself becomes weaponized: warping your ship into someone else's would effectively bisect it. And then someone comes up with a way to defend against it. And then someone comes up with a way to slip through the defence...etc.

2 Megaton, is NOT a tactical device; 2 Megaton is a city-burner. Hell, 'Little Boy and 'Fat Man were only 15 and 21 KILOTON devices and they wiped out cities.

Hey, this is the *future*. A hardened target is really hardened. While they're almost certainly carrying 4th Gen fusion weapons, the BIG stuff is probably for obliterating a planet. Or a star.

I just got into the game. Found out about it from ark of war scammy commercials.. I am really enjoying it but i dont see improvements for those 5 years. I was expecting a crap ton of stuff..
