  • This video is all about installing my pedestal seat onto the hatch lid of my jon boat. I spent allot of time researching this. I really wanted to make sure I knew how to reinforce the lid to be able to handle all the pressure of having a seat attached to it. We decided to go with combination of wood and aluminum to create an extremely solid base. In the end it worked out perfectly and still works like new after 7 months of use. Attwood, Seasense, Swivel-Ez and Tempress products were installed. We're very excited about 2021 as we continue to grow the channel with the help and support from all of you. THANK YOU!!!! Stay tuned for more great content. Happy New Year and be safe out there!!!

      Thanks. The gas tank is kept in the right hatch at the rear of the boat. I have a 3 gallon tank back there. The rear deck is vented at the transom location where the motor is. In considering adding additional vents but haven't done it yet. I recently started a new build where the rear deck with have an awesome 3 track dry hatch that will have 3 to 4" vents. Stay tuned.

    Excellent video. You did a fantastic job. Couldn't imagine an manucacturer doing any better. I have one question about the ped mount. Is the hole that the shaft sits down in open all the way through or is it water tight? • @michaelcharlesleone
    @michaelcharlesleone 3 года назад

    Awesome stuff! I'm thinking about doing the same, including a similar seat and was initially thinking I might need to run the aluminum post all the way down to the base floor in some fashion for added stability. But if your approach is working well, I might just go with that. I've never worked with cutting aluminum before and don't have anything here to do it. So I might just look for a similar sized pre-cut from Home Depot as I don't plan to paint or or need it to look nice when the hatch is open. Any regrets on the "butt" seat vs. a larger seat? I've always fished standing up but after a few hours on the water I've always thought a butt seat or similar would be helpful. Thoughts?

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  3 года назад +2

      Thanks man... Keep in mind, if you run the pole all the way down to the floor it may interfere with your ability to open and close the hatch. No regrets on my end. The mount is holding up perfectly so far. Extremely sturdy. I am conscious not to go leaning on it more than I need to. After all it's still 1/2" thick wood decking. I may buy a shorter seat pole and get a seat with a back eventually for those really long days so I can sit and lean back and chill 😎
