I've always wondered how to do this for pod, now I know and will apply what I learned from you! This has been super helpful! Thank you sooooooo much! I appreciate you breaking it down step by step! ❤🙏
About 7 months ago, someone asked the very question that I have, however you have not relied to it to answer the question. That question was, “Why did you create 12 distinct Etsy listings when you already had the 12 variations in the first listing, with each variation mapped to the appropriate Printify SKU?” A supplemental question to this would be does Etsy allow that many mockups to show 12 Images, in addition to any other images for business info, like shop return policy, etc?
yes I found that out the hard way - I added the vertical ruler lines but not horizontal and when I uploaded my design to the Etsy template, the design was too high! Easy enough to move the design if for a one-off but for bulk designs, it'll be cumbersome so I added the horizontal lines to the Canva template now all my designs are perfectly centered!

Such great info! I can not wait to get started! Thank you so much for laying the ground work for all of us. One question (I looked through previous questions first), when you are creating the etsy listing you mention production partner, but didn't really give info on what goes there. Hi, I'm new.. Would printify go here or the actual company we select for our product within printify?
This is brilliant! I have been avoiding starting a custom products shop because of the customization work it would require. I'm going to start it now that I know this exists!
LOVE your videos, Steven! I have learned more from you than any other Etsy RUclipsr so thank you! Question...in your shop, do you have categories on the left margin for product type or niche type? So if someone has 50 mugs for sale but there are 10 birthday, 10 promoted To, etc, would they all be listed under mugs or would you have 5 niche categories?
You are super helpful! Can you please tell us how to download the template from Printify? Thanks! Another quick question, do you use Printify for your ornaments? I know you say they ship same day, but I don't know how that works with Printify. Again, thanks!
Terrific tutorial. Can you clarify, right near the end, the customer's request / note to seller: Can I get this by the 13th? How do we - the shop - respond, how do we know if this is possible - what steps do we take on the timing requests that will definitely affect customer satisfaction? Many thanks! (I hope I didn't just miss you're addressing this earlier in the video!

There is one thing from the video that I am confused about. Why create 12 listings in Etsy for all the different months if you have all the sku's in the one listing? Can't we just upload images of all the variances in the one listing? Thank you for your time. Your videos are great and I am glad I found your channel.
This sounds great but aren’t there way too many people doing this already? How could I make money doing this? What are your thoughts? Also, what is the cost of such a program? Plus additional costs?
Hey, thanks for the detailed explanation. But why did you duplicate the listing 11 times in Etsy? I thought the point of adding all the birth month SKUs as Etsy variations was so you'd only have 1 Etsy listing for all 12 mugs??
same thoughts here too. duplicating listing on Printify make sense but inside Etsy? and other thing is ETSy will charge you 0.20 cents per listing. by duplicating 12 listing you will be charged $2.40. Cant we just add 11 SKUs inside that 1 primary listing to avoid additional charges?
I'm with you on this. I don't understand why, other than each listing showing the accurate birth flower mug, but even still, not sure this is good @@Listifyofficial
If I can get you to help me with one more question 🙋♂️ When I do my market research and I find three top selling items that are selling a product that I cannot produce on printify. Let’s say a Tumblr with a metal straw with laser engraving. I can’t produce this from Printify however they sell these in abundance and it’s one of the hottest items selling from my current research. Now I know it’s not the only market however, it’s one of the hottest markets. This vacation travel mug. What do you do in that situation? Do you just move onto another market and just accept it? Or would you try to find that product to sell it? Thanks again in advance for all of your hard work and for responding to my questions you guys are awesome and I cannot wait to find success through your methods.
I noticed that with hello custom when making the variations the printify skus could only be used once, so you have to make a copy of the product in printify to have a new sku and make a new variation. Is that right or I missed a step?
Thank you so much for this! Question; if your Etsy listing has all the graphic variants, why did you make another 11 listings for essentially the same thing? (11:50) If all your variants and SKUs are inside the one Etsy listing, it doesn't need to be duplicated 11 more times.
I have the same question. Why do we need to create the one listing on Etsy and put 12 variant on it? Why dont we just create 12 individual listings? Also, at the end, when the customer places the order, he clicks on the Jan listing. Then, again, on the option, he selects the Jan option again?
@theanysim Probably so that if someone orders any of the variants the reviews show up on that listing. If they're split then all of the built up trust and power of one listing is split by 12. If one variant takes off, then the rest can benefit and contribute to a snowball effect.
Hey guys I saw he did this in another video and explain why. He creates 12 listings and puts all the variants in all 12 listing to create multiple listings with the same items for more chances to get seen by customers. For example if someone typed in January mug, you maybe potentially be seen but if you had 12 listings your odds to be seen are greater. Does that make sense? Hope it helps, I want to see all of us succeed!
You need to define "Revenue". Is that the actual sale minus the drop shipping costs? Or is it the sale before the drop shipping charges are figured in? So many are glossing over this.
Thank you for this informative video. I see you stated that you need to have the same design on both sides. What if you only have one side you need personalized but the other does not and it has a design. Would it work?
Hey Steven. I am confused. If you add every month from Printify onto ONE Etsy listing, surely the SEO will be negatively impacted as the title, description, and tags will be exactly the same? How do you solve this problem?
I'm with you here, I'm confused why you'd add all variations to one listing, then create duplicates for that listing. The only thought i have is that each listing can show accurate mug examples, as there are limited images you can upload. But still... this seems like extra work?
This is so that you can choose from the January listing all other months designs too. From the Feburary listing you can choose all the other months designs too. From the March listing you can choose all the other months designs too. And so on. Means that each month has its own listing, which means more representation on Etsy's pages. 12 to be exact. But if you just click on ONE listing, you can choose all the other months as well. The SKU input just tells the website that there arent 12 x 12 (144) listings, just 12. That in and of itself is brilliant. A lot of work. But brilliant.
The flower photo is that a raster or vector image. It is going to be printed on ceramic surface. I bought a mug as a tourist at a Juction site, the mug is my fav color and the size and it is microwaveable, but the name printed on the mug is coming off.
this looks pretty super. if customer only enters the name and date without phrasing into a question as in your example, will HelloCustom still recognize the name and date and print correctly? so for example they just enter the personalization as below and nothing else. thanks! Kendra 2022
This is truly fantastic! Thank you for all this great info! I was just wondering about customer service, though. How does that work? When a customer asks whether the name can be Kendra, is it necessary to answer the customer, or do you just proceed with the order without answering? And what about other questions, like will I receive my order for sure before Christmas, or anything else? Who has to answer these questions? Do sellers get them often? Because I would imagine it's extremely time consuming if a seller has to keep answering customer questions.
Unless you have employees helping you, you are the customer service! I've noticed only about 10% of customers write in with questions about delivery times and whatnot. I don't think it's necessary to respond to each customer when they've written the name/date unless you think it's spelled incorrectly or they have a question that doesn't fall under what the product looks like.
Awesome tutorial. Question so does this make 12 seperate Etsy listings, but customer can select their birth month on each, or is it just one listing with the variants? Thank you for posting this. It was my painpoint. I was uploading a single pdf like you show in the video, but Hello Custom broke the image up into two different images. Does this mean it no longer does that?
Hi! I was curious about your thoughts with the district photo quality and the DHL shipping. Have you or your customers have any issues? Thanks so much for this video!
@@elizcody9144 I'm with you on this one....I downloaded the template I wanted to use...and it was an AI or PSD file....so I did my template with the correct size....then uploaded it to Canva and it just like shoved it into a projects folder (correct size) but none of the margins are there to use =/
If I remember correctly, those Printify templates are pdfs, which won't upload into Canva -- you have to convert them to another format first, then they'll upload. I use CloudConvert to change them to PDFs. You can also take a screenshot of the template and paste it into your Canva image (I label it "Mug Template") - just be sure to crop it it properly
Because other youtubers I've watched always said to choose You made it because you actually designed it, so that's what I always did. Until I watched this video.. @@SpeedbirdHeavy

Wonderful tutorial, thank you! Would you mind sharing where I can find that Stoic Font to Download? I can use it in Canva, but when trying to find it outside of Canva to Download to Hello Custom, I cannot find it anywhere!? Please help! Loving my monthly subscription to HC so far!!
Stupid question, but curious… Why do you create the Canva template 2X bigger than the file size specification from Printify? Is it because the print file has a better resolution when you scale it down?
Did you know that Canva has margin lines that you can activate while designing? You don't have to put guide lines on your actual design which you would then have to remember to delete.
Hi, I am new to this, so I find your videos very interesting and super enlightening! I'm following step by step what you explain in this video but when I get to the part where I'm supposed to download the mug template to upload it to Canva, there is no such option. I guess I can take a screenshot and adjust to the suggested size in Canva, right?
How do I tag two different names in Hello Custom if I have a mug for a couple who just got married. For example, Congratulations Tom & Sally - Do I give each name the Name tag? Or will Hello Custom enter the same name for both fields tagged as Name?
I think mugs would be added separately in the same listing for Hello Custom to work. Just make it clear to your customer to add both mugs to the cart. Mix match mugs are a good idea for same sex couples!
Just curious--you are using Hello Custom so you don't have to deal with placing the name, date on the mug? If you do it yourself, does Printify send it out for you? Also, $11.99 for the mug--does that cover the product and shipping? Or are you charging for shipping?
So helpful! Does anyone know if we leave the Printify listings as unpublished? OR do we publish them after posting on Etsy and Hello Custom? A little confused on that part. Thanks in advance!!
Great Video!!! I use Shopify. I don't use Etsy. I design my mugs via Printify. Does your platform do customization for sellers that utilize Shopify as a sales resource? Please respond asap. Thanks
I notice from your picture of a 15 oz mug you're holding, the left-hand side of the mug is further away from the handle than on the right side of the mug. I have this same problem in Printify and I am wondering if your customers complain about this. I seldom have this problem with the 11 oz mugs.
Nice explanation. I do not know POD can do personalization. Does it also has giftability feature...I mean, when someone buy a POD as a gift, how can it delivered to the personalised address..
So whats stopping me from copying my january birth mug in etsy and changing the thumbnail to february? Vs publishing from printify and recreating the entire listing twelve times? Thanks in advance!!
In this case, SEO. One listing should have all January search terms in the title and tags, the other should only have February search terms, etc. If you keep all the search terms broad or use all months throughout the listing, it will hurt the SEO. Imagine getting rank for January birthflower mug but still having your December thumbnail image when people are searching. It would hurt your clickthrough and then you would lose rank over time.
@@HelloCustom thanks for the reply!. Although when copying my January birth mug and replacing it with the February image, I’m also replacing the description title and tags. It was just saving me from going into print and publishing a whole new product and then having to create 12 variations by hand, copying and pasting all 12 SKUs again and again and again. When I copy the listing directly from Etsy all the SKUs come right with it.
i see that you have two type of subscriptions the first one is for monthly payment for 24.99( which is good for long time seller) and the second one which is 0.30 per sale(which is good for first time sellers) but you don't talk about the second option too much in the videos, so how does it work, do you charge 0.30 cents every time you get sale (only) or there is a extra fee you have to pay every month with that option? i want to try the trial but i want to be sure.
I only see a monthly ($29.99) and annual ($299) subscription. Given I’m just starting out I do not see how I can afford to keep this with no sales yet for these specific products.
@patriciabecker8105 i guess, ill wait to get consistent sales to be able to use this program, i only got 2 sales, and i was planning to to use this program to boost my sales bc personalization is something that customers love, plus this program could save me alot of time but i guess ill stick with not custom untill it boost in sales in the future.
@@hungkiet7535 yeah thats true , if he wants more customers he could price it at 15$ just like netflix, amazon, disney plus, he could dominate this market by having more competitive prices.

@ 3:43 the flower to be download, does it have a white background or the background is transparent. If it has a white background printed on a black mug it will print unnecessary white background besides the flower. Please specify are the center pieces like flower in this case do or do not have background of any color. Thanks
Good evening, When I'm designing in Canva, how do I know what fonts are available in Hello Custom? If I do different variations and use the same font, I don't want to have to search fonts online and do the changes when my design if uploaded to Hello Custom. I rather know what my options are before doing all of the variations.
@ what point the flower was sized to a specific width, Height and pixel? or all these clip art pieces are pre sized ready to use. Custom size template 4950 w x 2310 h this size is for the template only? or solely for the flower. The little devil is in the details.
Big Thanks...QUESTION...when I take the finished design 4950x2310 px into photoshop it says it's 96 dpi...don't I want 300 dpi???? I don't want to mess this up...Thanks
Hello Custom, First, thank you for your great videos. Extremely helpful. Print on demand is definitely something I've thought about. But, my question is, are we the seller responsible for paying the print company up front for the purchases or are their fees deducted from the buyers payment? Thank you.
Yes. I understand that Etsy receives the money. So, if the seller is responsible for providing payment upfront, then this isn't a business that you can start with no money as stated. Sure, you can set up a store, etc. But in reality, you would need your own funds to pay the upfront cost. Which, I now find the explained videos to be misleading. And if I'm wrong, please correct me.
@@jeaniek8372 okay so you know that Etsy receives the money, did you think that Etsy then paid the fulfilment provider? Alas, no. But the good thing about that is that Etsy handling the customer's payment means that they also handle all the sales tax side of the transaction - which, believe me, is a HUGE benefit. Now back to how to pay the fulfilment provider, since you likely won't get the Etsy payout before you have to pay Printify or whoever. What most of us do is have a credit card with benefits, such as cashback or air miles. You then use that card as your payment method with Printify and make sure you pay your credit card bill in full every month. That way you'll not pay interest and you'll accumulate air miles. Once you achieve success and get tons of orders you might have to adjust your credit limit or add more cards, but you'll be flying business class for free 😀
@jeaniek8372 You would pay up front if you have it set to automatically place the orders. You can actually start with no money upfront. What you would have to do is wait for the buyers payment to hit your account, then manually go place the order. This is how aloy of people start out until you get alittle bit of profit in your account, then change it over to place orders automatically.
I sell on Etsy. The seven figures is extremely rare and will not last. There are thousand of people selling mugs. The hardest thing on Etsy is to get noticed. It took me months.

Great video just one question...do you need to save changes to CMYK colour or do you just leave as RGB?
Great video, I didn't realize that you have to select "another company or a person" made it in Etsy, I normally pick "I made it" option.
It's because you didn't make the product.
Because other youtubers I've watched always said to choose You made it because you actually designed it, so that's what I always did. Until I watched this video.. @@SpeedbirdHeavy
@AniMoted that's only true if it's a digital product.
Yes, that's what I thought too, my logic told me to pick Other company made it for POD products but since other utubers said to pick "I made it" that's what I did, it's good to learn it now before I'm in too deep :).@@SpeedbirdHeavy
Stupid question, but curious…
Why do you create the Canva template 2X bigger than the file size specification from Printify?
Is it because the print file has a better resolution when you scale it down?
Yes, exactly that.
Am sorry, I found it.
Do you leave the listings "unpublished" in printify?
I was confused about this part as well. Last he mentioned or showed the Printify side of things, the listings were all saved as drafts...?
Are you showing all 12 months flowers in one listing under other images since a costumer can choose any month? Maybe I missed that thanks
Did you leave the listings Unpublished in Printify?
My question as well.
Thank you so much for such an informative clip. You are so kind. ^_^
Great explanations love all of your videos
I did the same following all your steps and put it at a competitive price and none were sold in two months
What do you suspect? Is it possibly you forgot to publish it? Maybe the customer is not seeing you mug or printify not connected to you Etsy account.
Fabulous thank u so very much...love every video
I just may have to try Hello Custom
Can you do a tutorial for Printful?
Just curious--you are using Hello Custom so you don't have to deal with placing the name, date on the mug? If you do it yourself, does Printify send it out for you? Also, $11.99 for the mug--does that cover the product and shipping? Or are you charging for shipping?
Do you have any plans to integrate with other pod providers such as printful ?
So helpful! Does anyone know if we leave the Printify listings as unpublished? OR do we publish them after posting on Etsy and Hello Custom? A little confused on that part. Thanks in advance!!
I just ran mine thru printify do you have to use Hello Cusom?
Great Video!!!
I use Shopify. I don't use Etsy. I design my mugs via Printify. Does your platform do customization for sellers that utilize Shopify as a sales resource?
Please respond asap.
Thanks
I notice from your picture of a 15 oz mug you're holding, the left-hand side of the mug is further away from the handle than on the right side of the mug. I have this same problem in Printify and I am wondering if your customers complain about this. I seldom have this problem with the 11 oz mugs.
please tell me! how do you add fonts to hello custom?
With Hello Custom, can we offer multiple fonts for people to choose from as well? Thanks
Very helpful video, easy to follow. Thanks
@HelloCustom, in this video you never published the mugs on Printify. Do you have to Publish them on Printiify?
Once you create the design and people start to buy, where do we find the mugs?
So you have to list 12 different products on Etsy to cover all the months?
Nice explanation. I do not know POD can do personalization. Does it also has giftability feature...I mean, when someone buy a POD as a gift, how can it delivered to the personalised address..
The customer puts the delivery address when they order.
Will Printify charge you twice, for an image in the front and the back?
@@HelloCustom thanks 🙏 noted 📝
You've probably answered this, but why use a PDF in HelloCustom vs the PNG that you already have?
A PNG is graphic only and will not have the fonts as editible items. The pdf contains both graphics and editible fonts.
i see that you have two type of subscriptions the first one is for monthly payment for 24.99( which is good for long time seller) and the second one which is 0.30 per sale(which is good for first time sellers) but you don't talk about the second option too much in the videos, so how does it work, do you charge 0.30 cents every time you get sale (only) or there is a extra fee you have to pay every month with that option? i want to try the trial but i want to be sure.
I only see a monthly ($29.99) and annual ($299) subscription. Given I’m just starting out I do not see how I can afford to keep this with no sales yet for these specific products.
And each of those options also have 0.30 per sale on top.
Very pricey monthly subscription
@@hungkiet7535 yeah thats true , if he wants more customers he could price it at 15$ just like netflix, amazon, disney plus, he could dominate this market by having more competitive prices.
At about 17 mins in you say hello custom can only map one graphic? Does that mean you can only use one clip art in your design to use with Hello Custom?
Can You ad 2 names like "Joan and Kay"?
I tried doing what you suggested. But the picture is on the handle of the glass instead. I'm sure it's positioned correctly as you suggest. How can I fix it?
Dang, fantastic video!!!!!! Thank you!
Print area size 2475 x 1155 px (300 DPI) does this mean the template area? or the actual image (flower) area? Thnks.
How do I get the 70% off printifly boot camp
can you sure your pricing on a mug? I followed your steps in the 1M challenge but i am somehow always in the negative. I know mugs sell great just trying to figure out the best to price thanks
Do you post the image on both sides of the mug or just one?
He said HelloCustom can only do one image. That is why you set it up as ONE wraparound image and it will show on both sides.
Thank you!
My template does not have lines on it. Just a rectangle. I cant figure out what I am doing wrong.
Do you have any another suppliers in Asia?
Dear friend, Please tell step by step , where you click again what you do, no understand
how do you download images from canva as 300 dpi? or do you just convert them to 300 dpi before fulfilling the order?
@ what point the flower was sized to a specific width, Height and pixel? or all these clip art pieces are pre sized ready to use. Custom size template 4950 w x 2310 h this size is for the template only? or solely for the flower. The little devil is in the details.
Big Thanks...QUESTION...when I take the finished design 4950x2310 px into photoshop it says it's 96 dpi...don't I want 300 dpi???? I don't want to mess this up...Thanks
Not sure what I am doing wrong. The Printify download only opens in Adobe, how do I get it to Canva? Sorry, I am new at this.
Awesome Job..Thankyou
Hello Custom, First, thank you for your great videos. Extremely helpful. Print on demand is definitely something I've thought about. But, my question is, are we the seller responsible for paying the print company up front for the purchases or are their fees deducted from the buyers payment? Thank you.
You pay your fulfilment provider up front. They don't receive the buyer's money. Etsy does.
@mikedeering929 Thank you for sharing the information. I'll definitely re consider the possibilities.
Can’t I just do one Etsy listing and offer any of the mugs even though I have the 12 products listed separately on Printify?
Hi, I was a good video, but you left us hanging with the "skew the link everything into one" I Have no idea how to do that.
Thank you so much ‼️💯❤️❤️
I sell on Etsy. The seven figures is extremely rare and will not last. There are thousand of people selling mugs. The hardest thing on Etsy is to get noticed. It took me months.
Hi I am trying to follow your steps but whem I download the mug template in to canva I cant seem to make it bigger It wont move???
I have my etsy store open for a while now ( custom mugs) and I still cant seem to make one sale ugh
