I'm not angry at mugs; I'm frustrated with those self-proclaimed top Etsy sellers who constantly churn out courses promising to boost your store to $1000 a month (spoiler: they don't deliver!). And every time you buy their course, they come up with yet another sub-course... It's nauseating. I wish they'd put an end to it.
I agree. I hate when the use lables like "Mentor". I grew up when the word Mentor refered to a person who shared their experience or provide guidence normally for free. Mentorship is a relationship, not a service or transaction. Consultants are paid. Just my 2cents, but I'm GenXer anyhow.
Whilst I take your point about competition, the other side of the equation is demand. And the whole world loves coffee, which is why I sell mugs! Whereas not everyone drinks water or soft drinks (I don't) and the demand is therefore lower for the other drinkware. I do pretty well with my custom mugs.
I think people use mugs as a safe gift. My husband and I have received so many of them because we have special interests so people can search for our video game or whatever and they see mugs and go oh, everybody drinks coffee, and they buy it for us. We have runescape mugs that are over a decade old with loot graphics on them.
I think it's a good little extra add on to go along with other higher margin products on your site, or even as a bonus gift for a purchase minimum of something like $100
I've been creating mugs for almost 3 months now with research , making sure titles are great , description is also great , doing my SEO , making realistic mockup using placeit or even custom mockups , and creating unique designs or even ones that are selling a lot but adding a twist. Yet still its hard to make any sales at all . I now realalised why now after a long 3 months of consistently working on it . I don't know what item on POD model would actually sell I mean there now temu which sell water drinks and mugs and also more people selling on etsy aswell.
Hey Joe, I believe the Blue Ocean vs Red Ocean idea is originally from the book called Blue Ocean Strategy, and Dan Kennedy was just summarizing it and passing it along
You can personalize mugs with any print on demand supplier doesn’t have anything to do with them. I have some videos on my channel about print on demand personalized.
I see so many mugs on Etsy that are frankly terrible, or mediocre at best. I would say it is 90 percent. Now, you get back what you put it that design. Put in little effort, and get back little reward. You might get lucky, but that means producing more crap more often, doesnt it? And hoping one pays off, and in doing so, effectively diluting your visibility, because everyone else like you is flooding the market with endless listings. This mentality seriously must stop. Anyone with a brain can work out, its only a matter of time before that niche ends and another trending niche endless chasing game begins. Now. Stop this madness. Calm the farm and THINK. START WITH WHAT YOUR PASSIONATE ABOUT AND COULD BE SUSTAINED. This in turn will motivate you to design the best design possible, and also to sell it for more, because its not the same as the other 90 percent flooding the market! I spend days sometimes, on the one design.
@RealJoeRobert I've been designing my own items on tumblers and t-shirts and menus for local businesses and my community. I started a store on etsy because everyone said I should expand to more people. I started following following people who say ai art and multiple niches are the way to go. I've sold a few, but then it just quit. I'm stuck. I found your RUclips and now backtracking. I'm trying to find 1 niche and high product items. Mugs & and t-shirts everyone is selling. I'm the owner of SoulSistersDesignsNC
Just went on teelaunch and looked at signs like the ones you sell, but can’t figure out how to actually find the design center like the ones on printify or canva to begin designing. You mentioned photoshop on your recent video. Any help would be appreciated. Great videos and advice!
Rip here I was thinking to sell this mug idea I worked all hard on. How sad. Looks like I'll be poor forever. Taxes will take all my hard work I wanted to do. Looks like i"ll just work till death.

All they want is money!!!

Nice! 99% are failing with them from what I see
Mugs are selling much better for me than tumblers. POD tumblers are expensive and the profit margins are low.

You don’t drink water? Ever? 👀
@@Tinarobinson099 not straight! In coffee, yes.

Yep could be for sure
Thanks for not BSing people Joe. That's invaluable.

Great video, Joe! Any recommendation for a blanket supplier?
Printify and teelaunch have lots
absolutely incredible info! thank you so much
appreciate for sharing this with us, excellent video
The accent color mug is not the same product as the all white mugs and the prices are different. Also, there are mugs cheaper than $6
Great information!! Can you link your own website to Printify?
Well, I DID wake up this morning mad at mugs. Lol. Very interesting about the .store domains. Thx for the info!
Lol! Thanks for watching

Cool! Thank you for watching 😃
Is basic economics
What is the best way to create a mug where customers are prompted to add their own image and graphics. Which P.O.D. manufacturer offers this?

YES! JUST WHAT I NEEDED, TY!!!
you just convinced me on doing it
The main concern i always think of is the cost of advertising to get traffic when we run on our own shop. I blew that before. Any good advice?
Focus on creating great designs in passionate niches so you make sales when you pay for traffic
Nice vid thank you for sharing with us
THANKS A BUNCH, AMAZING VIDEO!!!

I don't see the .store discount link
It’s in the pinned comment and in the video description
Haha, dang, you got my business page. Thank you for the tips. I've been following the wrong people
Thanks for watching 🙏 not sure what you mean by business page?

Nice. thanks for sharing

You are AWESOME!!! TY
I really thought you woke up mad at mugs!
I really need to calibrate my peoples judging skills!
Haha 😂
I think it all depends on the amount you want to make per month. $1000 a month is a realistic goal selling mugs in my opinion.
That's a pretty good goal for mugs, I wonder how much of your time that would take?
Great content! 👍

Sorry I’m not sure what you mean
How do you design a custom made sign on teelaunch?
@allworld6580 you can download the template they have and use their guide to make one in a software like photoshop or canva
Thanks Joe for the . Store info. Much appreciated
@nardianethersole1024 you bet!
