- Today I look at the the drop shot, the jump shot, as well as the slide in Black Ops 3 and share what I feel is the best to use is specific situations. I hope you enjoy!

From my experience, I'm a prestige master with a 2.03kd, I believe the following button layout is the best to becoming a good call of duty player. For those who don't want to dish out 300 greens for a scuff controller the BUMPER JUMPER layout is the key. It basically swaps the X/A button for jump and swaps it for the tactical grenade and provides all of the benefits seen in a scuff controller, you never have to let go of your aim to jump which makes you x2 as likely to get a kill than with using X/A. Another layout is tactical, although you will be sacrificing the knife/punch button, the ability to slide and crouch and prone is far better, and since it takes 2 hits now in COD to kill someone with your hands it seems obvious that tactical is the way forward. And once you feel like you've mastered both I would then recommend trying BUMPER JUMPER TACTICAL, this button layout right here will make you 5x the player you were before. Just practice with it and soon you will get used to it ;)

Note: 1:45ish. In a similar situation, if I felt bad about that gunfight, I would have crouched and moved back toward the wall, the wall giving me partial cover and the chance the enemy will shoot it instead of me. Most people aim upper chest or head to try and do more damage ( at least I do) if they have the reflexes to aim. That being said, at that distance and further ( in other words assuming they're not within hugging distance) they will shoot over your head, especially if they expect you to jump. This is not advocating dropshots. This is saying crouching reduces your profile, especially at longer ranges and allows you to dig into cover when it matters most

If you don't have a scuf, you can use the "stick and move" setting in which "r3" is the jump button and "x" is the punch button. I feel that this is more effective in bo3 than using "tactical" settings.
I learned the hard way that the drop shot is nearly useless in this game. Definitely going to add your jump shot techniques to my arsenal. One thing that I like to do is jump left and then boost right, or vice versa.
So I have a question then: is it still worth it to play with tactical button layout (when melee and crouch/prone are switched)?

I knew it seemed like drop shotting was much slower I was right!!! That is amazing seein it from the enemy perspective honestly. Thanks Ace, another super helpful and informative video. At least these movement mechanics can somewhat make up for the Stock attachment taking such a big damn nerf.
if you're really close to the enemy, you can either boost over them, or fake them out and boost forward halfway, but then boost back, and you'll have cleanshots at the enemy whilst they are trying to track where they thought you were going behind them.
Just a personal preference but i like using drop shots on LMG's, not sure if you still get reduced recoil when you are crouching but, it does make LMG's feel better to use.
The g-slide would be the most effective because you have the speed of a slide, the height of a jump shot, and the ability to aim down sights.
Two options I recommend for people that are using a standard controller. First option is to change your button layout to "Stick and Move" this makes the R3 joystick become jump allowing you to jump and aim easily. I find it to be the best because for the most part knifing is dead in this game along with dropshots. Another option is to change your layout to "Bumper Jumper" or "Bumper Jumper Tactical" if you are used to keeping four fingers on the triggers. Bumper jumped does not work well for me personally because I am used to having two fingers on the trigger, and it makes activating your specialist a real pain.
just remap your buttons on ps4 to how you like...don't know about xbox1 if this is possible?...I simply just swapped out my L1 R1 for X O buttons so I play 4 finger triggers.

I randomly learned drop and jump shooting earlier in the games with bots and now in multiplayer helps but if you are near cover while the enemy is at a longer distance I use that and go behind it while killing them by going on the side of the cover or popping up
Drop shotting also has a massive nerf to accuracy (bullet spread) even if you ADS. As you go prone your shots will hit far away from where you aim. This was implemented in bo2.
If you don't have a scuff, you can use the Bumper Jumper button layout. Let's you aim and jump at the same time
I use the bumper jumper tactical layout as it binds the jump to the left bumper (XBO). It work well since I can aim while I jump around. I agree that the drop shot is not as effective compared to past Cod Games though...
best setting on xbox one is bumper jumper tactical. Your able to jump and aim at the same time while still being able to slide with ease
XA there is also a button layout Called Bumper Jumper in the controller options button layout works just like a scuf but relocates your lethal and tactical buttons to Circle and X ( B and A) and Your L1 and R1 (LB and RB) to Thrusters and Melee...for those who don't have a scuff
Didn't realize that about the drop shot good info... unfortunately i couldn't hit the side of a barn when I jump shot! I'll keep working at it.
I find the best way to utilize both is to use bumper/jumper tactical...You can still dropshot and jumpshot without buying a scuf
What many of these people using scuff controllers don't know is that you can actually set your controller to jump when pressing the right analog stick. That is the way I jump, and i don't have to leave my fingers off my thumbsticks, so it is SUPER useful.
No needs of $250 scuffs baby.
In my experience drop-shotting is more effective than jump-shotting only when you know an enemy is about to come around the corner, especially in buildings with low ceilings where jump-shotting won't do much good

I think the dropshot isn't bad on this if used in the right scenario, if you get caught off guard in a small space it is worth trying.
If you don't have a scuf just use the "bumper jumper" or "bumper Jumper Tactical" button layouts.
I have a habit of drop shotting. It's effective a majority of the time for me, but every now and then the free headshot fucks me up

Well, what I've noticed is that most people expect a jump shot, so even when I just take a knee, their gun usually goes up, and I can kill them.
Button layout "stick and move" is great. It allows you to jump with r3. I use to play on tactical on bo2, but soon realized tactical was not going to work for bo3. If your use to tactical, dont want to buy a scuf controller, and want to do more jump shots, then I highly recommend changing to "stick and move" button layout.

, its not worth it. the weapon bounce also makes jumping mid-gunfight less effective
true it can be a stretch moving the thumb all the way over to O/B, but for me I use jump shots more than slides and crouching so it was worth it. If you crouch and slide more than jump, yes tactical is probably the better choice. Ultimately a scuf controller is this best option so you dont limit your ability.

I always jumpshot, drop shoting like you said is too slow. Jumpshots are the best in almost every single situation.
Also, getting up from being on the ground is so terrible. Takes forever. Never lay behind a wall/ head glitch. Like I do it on Nuketown, because I'm used to it. Big mistake. Takes forever before you're able to sprint, jump or shoot again. Although you can go from crouch straight into a jump in BO3.

When i come through a door and they are there to. I crouch and shoot their stomach real close to the enemy
You can change your stick layout to stick and move so you jump by tapping the right stick and knife with X
slideshotting has been really good for me :)
There is also a new controller layout in this game, its called bumper jumper, and you can jump... using your bumpers (not taking your thumb off the right stick) Which if you can get used to, will save you a lot of lives and money on a scuff!

Actually, drop shot is not that bad in 1v1 because if the enemy is aiming at you, you disappear downsight, and the lack of "Toughness" makes his aim going upsight when you hitmark him. (Is my english wrong ?)
Proof in point that the new AMS has not only destroyed gameplay in Infinite Warfare but also BO3.

The downfall to jump shotting is the ridiculous bounce that comes when you land. if you dont kill your enemy whilst you're in the air, you're left as a massive target waiting for your gun to prop back up. That really annoys me

I've had some success using the dropshot
I feel I get killed out of the air more often then going prone
However, whenever I do dropshot it's fairly close and I'm hip firing so I fire through crouch to prone
I only dropshot once or twice a game
So I'm really not too dependent on me to be successful

Might I remind you that there are controller layouts called bumper jumper and bumper jumper tactical? Look into it.
i noticed that the iron sights wiggle around a lot more when you jumpshot compared to older CoDs
Even without a scuf i find it quite easy to aim while jumpshotting, even if i hold the button down
guys you don't need a scuf controller you can go and change the botton lay out in the back ops 3 manu and set that layout to bumper jumper now you don't need to take your thumb off the joy stick
I still think drop shorting is big because of the upward flinch that most guns will cause

i still use drop shot with SMGs and its still good for me but i switch it up with jump shots and slides.
pro tip, if you dont have a scuf, use either stick and move to keep your thumbs on the stick
either including bumper jumper, stick and move is more appropriate it lets you keep your thumbs on the thumbs and use your accuracy by staying aim down sights as apposed to hip firing with thumb off right stick

I'll definitely have to practice jump shotting. That's my biggest weakness right now. Even when it's a 1 on 1 fight, when people start hopping around like morons... I just can't keep up with them. That's what I hated most about Advanced Warfare. I can't aim when I'm high in the sky and I certainly can't aim when they're high in the sky.
+grtoocool Instead of tactical try stick and move. Your jump button is the R3 and you can aim a lot better while jumping without a scuff controller.
I switched my knife button for the jump button (think its r3) in the button lay out settings of my ps4 so now i can jump shot and stay on target really well without having a scuff
I use the stick and move option where the jump is on your R3 and with the ps4 I can map the buttons how I want to. I put Melee at L1 and Prone on R2 while aiming and shooting on L1 and R1 and nades are X and O

You forgot the best move of all, the Strafe Shot, try it and you will agree. Equip any SMG and when you encounter an enemy strafe side to side with the left thumb stick fairly rapidly while moving opposite with the right analog stick to keep your aim centered. You will be blown away by how many gunfights you will win without the enemy even landing a hit marker.
That's why stock was used by pretty much everyone in BO2. I wouldn't call it a new tactic...

Hey ace, now say if ur in a gunfight where ur enemy is the one that wall run and jumpshot to take u by surprise, would u drop shot, or would u jump shot or boost jump back at ur enemy to try to win gunshot or would u just shoot normally stil? What will be the best thing to do or u already just think in ur head u lost the gunfight already?

+Brandon Martin It honestly depends on how serious you are about gaming. For the average casual player, it's probably not worth it. For someone that plays almost every day and has a bit of money to spare, absolutely.

I've been playing it for about a month with tactical flipped and I see a huge improvement (I can't afford a scuf) and I think it's worth making a video on it. The only problem I see with claw, is your hand might start to hurt after awhile and if you have big hands, your trigger finger will slow down, because you'll be tapping the shooting button with the middle part of your middle finger instead of the tip of your pointer finger.
