- Disaster strikes in Puerto Rico as the entire island’s power was wiped out by Hurricane Fiona. Some areas face winds up to 130 miles per hour. The category one hurricane has stopped all air traffic travel. So far, there has been one storm-related death on the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe. President Biden approved an emergency declaration giving money and resources to help the island after the storm passes.

The main problem we have in Puerto Rico is that the governor sold the electric structure of the island to an American company called luma.this private company came to make fast money and they don't want to invest in fixing the system. Since this company took control we have constants interruption of power.the governor is refusing to end the deal with luma.thats why there has been so many protests against this company and the governor, the us government knows perfectly well what's going on here but they refuse to intervine, too much money involve and the ones that suffer the consequences is we the people that are working hard with small business and high taxes, while this governor is probably making millions out of these deals.the united states government is involve in this, the us congress said it was going to investigate this deal, but so far nothing, they are involve in this dark deal
maybe ya all could get together make them stop putting up poles every year for the thousanth time. Sooooo much cheaper to put the wires underground. and as a side note , will also help to beautify your island
Hmmmm
Do your homework instead of feeding into baseless accusations, it has been proven that AEE / utier was corrupt for decades and we are in this situation because of them, you can't quickly magically fix what was mistreated for decades.
And lack of Federal government holding them accountable!

My prayers go out to everyone out in Puerto Rico.
Thank you. 🙋🕊️
Aww man just what Puerto Rico didn't need. Prayers going out to the people!
Was here during and after Maria, still riding this one out currently! A huge swath of rain being tugged along behind the 'center'. I can say from the ground, the intensity is nothing like Maria so that's very good for us and for people who have friends and loved ones here. Without a doubt, the great people of this island will be out there first light picking up the pieces and HELPING everyone get back on track. Thanks for the comments of support, every thought counts! We shall recover again
Support from NY. We will do what we can to help.
prayers for everyone and everything hopefully this huge storm will calm down finally
Praying for everyone affected in Puerto Rico
My Bahamian friend told me that years ago when the big hurricane struck it destroyed their house, blew the roof off. His mother was missing. Days later the fishermen found her miles off shore clinging in the upturned roof.
Now, when a big storm comes, she becomes very quiet...and climbs up into the rafters.

The poor woman was really traumatized and she's lucky to be alive but I'm sure she knows that .
I hope she will somehow be able to start to have more peace of mind during these storms and somehow learn to feel more safe and calm

Same applies to the fraudulent Ukraine nonsense. All they are doing is laundering billions of dollars through Ukraine and letting weapons etc get sold on the black market.
you know those politicians are salivating just thinking about all the money they can launder from this tragedy.
@@jimmyanderson4865 Yup. They will send government contracts out to their friends and donors. When those supplies get there, they will be kept in a storage and unaccounted for so that they can be sold off in the future when the noise dies down. Same happens in many of these corrupt countries. The aid was being sold by government officials to local vendors for a much lower price... so our tax dollars went to these government officials who didn't even help their people.

I have been thru many hurricanes because of where I live. Loosing power is just normal. And heavy rain is also just normal. This storm wasn't bad at all as hurricanes go. They should be grateful. It can get much worse and many times more powerful. Just part of living in the tropics.
Usually hurricanes that have hit puerto rico before didnt leave behind as much water as this one even tho is a cat 1 versus the other hurricanes that have hit us before.

Yes. Hurricane names are used on a cycle of a few years. Hurricane names are only retired if the hurricane had a catastrophic impact, in which case they will find a new name for that letter.
