Lately, there seems to be an intent by travel bloggers to encourage people to go to "La Perla". To make it a tourist spot because "Despacito" was filmed there. So what? The place is ugly, none of their bars or restaurants is unique or better than what you can find in Old San Juan. And you can get in trouble or worse if you don't follow their spur-of-the-moment random "rules". Hard pass for me. Highly irresponsible to encourage anyone to go there.
These travel bloggers are low-key sex tourist they go to DR, PR and every country for sex tourism then try to play if off as a travel blog and typically these travel bloggers are of the melanin type. As far as going to a world known ghetto like la perla to film that's just asking for trouble, that's like going to la 42 in DR, again asking for trouble.
I've been all through La Perla at night. I was with my friends from P.R. It's all about respect. I felt nothing but love from everyone. Be respectful and put your phones and cameras away. It's not something anyone should have to tell you. These videos show you don't come from any kind of background where respect is key and most important to sustaining your life. I was literally right there this week brodie!! 😂😂 we were right in that sneaker store right across from that bar. Copped some sneakers and a hat. There wasn’t any tourist in there when we went. I had to check it out. I wanted to see how the world really lives outside the tourist spots. Only problem we had was when he exited the shop five of the local women literally sat in front of the door, blocking the exit. My wife politely knocked and they moved but the older woman of their group was mad mean mugging like she was looking for problems. We smiled and kept it moving. Not my barrio, not my barrio to disrespect. The sneaker shop had some nice authentic sneakers and urban wear. Mad clean inside. Lotta reggaeton singer shoot videos down there. Got there a lil too early around 3-4 ish and they were still cleaning up getting ready for the 3 kings festival
No way, that's good to know nothing sketchy happened to you guys. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.
The sneaker shop there taking advantage of the towns reputation and they bullied their way in there and you buy sneakers from them? FOUL bro so FOUL.
@@xiomanaxoxoxo3212 elaborate some more, I’m genuinely curious
Its crazy that the real state right there is worth millions, the poor will eventually be pushed out through gentrification. I looked at the price right above La Perla on the street above and it was 1.5$M and needed a lot of work , It was a 3 family I'd say.
@@briankay1901 interesting research
@@stafaislive yeh Im from Boston USA and gentrification has run rampant through here. Even in areas where there is 5 gun shots a week a 3BR costs $500k+. Crazy here and the way San juan is so Americanized I doubt anyone can stop gentrification there also. A lot of those people who own the land, it has been passed down from generations and they don't even have legal papers saying they own the land. Not just La Perla but many parts of PR.
@briankay1901 what do you think will happen to la perla?
@@stafaislive It will all be demolished and high rises will be built there. Maybe not overnight but like Boston and NYC , the hoods will slowly disappear and the rich will come in. Unfortunately money talks and the poor people have no say. The politicians will act like they will try and stop it , but they are getting greased behind closed doors and will profit also. So many hoods in Boston and NYC are now gentrified and have Starbucks and Whole foods and of course the dreaded bike lanes haha
Papi you are in a dangerous zone!
People were nice when i turned my camera off.
Okok interesting, Would you still pay la perla a visit?
These travel bloggers are low-key sex tourist they go to DR, PR and every country for sex tourism then try to play if off as a travel blog and typically these travel bloggers are of the melanin type. As far as going to a world known ghetto like la perla to film that's just asking for trouble, that's like going to la 42 in DR, again asking for trouble.

Its not dangerous if u respect people around you and mind ur own business.
My favorite place in the whole world. They treat you like a king there. La Isla Del Encanto!
That looks beautiful 😍
Yes is very true #vidanuevapr
I've been all through La Perla at night. I was with my friends from P.R. It's all about respect. I felt nothing but love from everyone. Be respectful and put your phones and cameras away. It's not something anyone should have to tell you. These videos show you don't come from any kind of background where respect is key and most important to sustaining your life. Lack of respect is why people are dying. I was able to show my son what not to do. So I guess it's informative at best 👌. La Perla Bella!!
Respect goes a long way, that's good to know you had a good time.
Just visited that are pulled up to the Melo court people was friendly except one dude but I was 8 people deep so he ain’t trip!
Good thing nothing wild happened
Puerto Rico es una locura amigo se te quiere saludos desde chile❤️
Saludos amigo! Gracias
La Perla was what they changed the stamp tuna too after dope spot got raided in the bronx 197 and Valentine. Latin kings spot. Wilson was the boss or one of em. Nephew Johnathan was my bud plug .
Seems like there is so much history
@stafaislive i stayed in that area for a month and a half my ex fiancee was from Bayamon so the first night in san juan someone got killed right outside our apartment for tryna box people another spot looked like the favelas in brazil just little houses on a hill we seen a lady get robbed and stabbed im white but i was good cuz i was with her and her family i was treated like a was from there other then the bad stuff it was amazing nothing like a cold beer en las playas de san juan
Wow, that's devastating. It's a good thing you went around with people. There must have been a reason why those people got attacked.
Got robbed and carjacked there 😔
@doofenshmirtzgaming what? I've never seen a can going there. Did you report it to the police?
lol. The only reason other people have recorded because I’m sure they paid money to get in there. a lot of people don’t have videos of the entrance, but we do cause we live here. That’s the hang out. Nightlife awesome. Free concerts.
I would of loved to speak to the people more.
I need to move to La Perla 🎉
You will have an interesting experience.
My in laws have a apartment in la perla it's a beautiful spot
I will be going back and sleeping in la perla in July

It's like any hood respect and u won't have problems there's the "puntos" drug deal spots stay away from those just like any hood also when people record and ur not puerto rican they automatically think ur a cop i have an accent raised in the states everyone thinks I'm a cop
I see now, thats why they a not comfortable with random people recording.

Of corse
Respect the rules, and you will be fine. The no recording area is the main street that is not on the video and at night La Perla is a whole different game.
You clearly didn't watch the whole video. I didn't break any rule. You're making it sound like La perla is the worst place in the world.
I bet if you live in La perla, you can leave your car open and wallet inside, and no one will touch your belongings. Respect goes a long way.
I have no comment in that as I haven't heard anyone trying that.
This is not the 80’s not the 90’s or early 2000’s it’s not that bad is back den it’s peaceful
So it's more peaceful nowadays?
I'm very gringo and party there all the time. Don't speak a lick of Spanish. You respect them and don't act stupid, you just chill and calmly enjoy yourself, you're straight. Respect is safety. There's 2-4 cops on either end of the strip. They won't bother you. Tranquilo amigos. Esta bien.

I would of went to one of those places. La perla is claimed to be one of the most dangerous places in san juan.
☝️😆😆 One of the most dangerous hoods😆😆 yea in the 90's it's a tourist área now. Most of the bad people are dead, moved out or in prison. Everybody records thats BS.
Clearly, the guy on my video said no recording. So you don't think it's one of the most dangerous hoods. Most people in the comment said the opposite to you. Why dont you go there and record and prove its safe.
rest easy
