I thought you was gone when the man said "you don't worry" 😂😂😂
Hahahahahhaha. When i went past the bridge, he came back, so i had to hide my camera
Right! 😂
I partied till 6am in la Perla. You just gotta respect their rules & you’ll be good.
No way, I'm looking to go there next week. Any recommendations?
Respect man, your bold. I know he said, La Perla doesnt usually allow recordings but the same goes for the "Caserios" known as Public Housing Projects. Im from Nemesio R. Canales (public housing project in San Juan- one way 1 in one way out) and it would be the same way. U need a local or someone from there as a guide to give u a tour. But the "boys" in the neighborhood will definitely be a bit nervous about u going in there, them never seeing u before in their every day to day life and might inquire to why your are filming. The first thing they think of is u being a cop or undercover, bloggers are more of a common thing now a days, but the best bet is always being humble, setting up aquaintances and getting permission from "top dogs" running the show to have them guide you first on where u can and cannot film and of course theyre blessing. Once u got that, you got the golden key around the "Barrio"
Yo, thank you for watching and giving me that information, Nuff respect this.
@@stafaislive absolutely brother, stay safe, these are golden codes that will always help u in any hood in PR. Hope to see more!
@checox27 I would love to see more hoods. But now i will be backpacking to Romania, abu dhabi, Maldives, Russia, Afghanistan, and more.
I's a tourist área now. Most of the bad people are dead, moved out or in prison. Everybody records thats BS.
Their blessing? Are these privately owned neighborhoods or public places?
I went to the Perla last year 2022 and I walked all of it, and nothing happen to me or my son, but then again I wasn't filming anything I was just taking pictures.
It is beautiful there. The guy i had a long conversation with was happy to get him recorded. How did you find la perla?

I was literally right there this week brodie!! 😂😂 we were right in that sneaker store right across from that bar. Copped some sneakers and a hat. There wasn’t any tourist in there when we went. I had to check it out. I wanted to see how the world really lives outside the tourist spots. Only problem we had was when he exited the shop five of the local women literally sat in front of the door, blocking the exit. My wife politely knocked and they moved but the older woman of their group was mad mean mugging like she was looking for problems. We smiled and kept it moving. Not my barrio, not my barrio to disrespect. The sneaker shop had some nice authentic sneakers and urban wear. Mad clean inside. Lotta reggaeton singer shoot videos down there. Got there a lil too early around 3-4 ish and they were still cleaning up getting ready for the 3 kings festival

It was honestly the best Piña Colada I've ever had

I wish i got to know the place more, i managed to get to know the people more once i stopped recording. They are good people, once you talk to them.
There were hurricanes in Puerto Rico, so many houses were destroyed. There are many people around the world that do not like to be recorded, and I understand them because you can expect many good things from the media, but also, many not that good. I think that the guy you interviewed at La Bandera was saying that in other neighbourhoods, many of the bad things he mentioned.could happen, but he said not at La Perla....
Thank you for explaining this
Bro, what happened is that you were trying to get in through an aera that has a lot of drugs activity. Specifically, that aera passing across that bridge.
But, there is another side where all the visitors/tourists can get in without any issues.
What? I wish i knew the other side. After staying in Puerto Rico, I had one of the best experiences of my life apart from walking in la perla as i was curious. After making more videos of the other side of Puerto Rico, I managed to get people booking.
@stafaislive good thing is that La Perla it's not the same place like it used to be back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. A lot of crimes were going on back then. Not even ppl from other cities were able to get in there. Not even the cops.
But after 2000 or so, la Perla has become more popular but in a better way. Artists producing their videos, athletes trying to encourage young kids from the hood to practice a sport like boxing, a lot small businesses for the visitors , etc..
Glad you had a good time over there! Keep it up!+!
Its really good to hear people making a difference, encouraging young kid to do better in life. One of my favourite boxers is miguel cotto.

A tourist was killed and then burned for filming in the Perla. If people are warning you , it's for a reason.

He was told not to record and certain areas of la Perla, but bro didnt want to stop recording and wanted to start a fight he was warned multiple times and didnt follow rules! You cant start a fight or dont follow rules or codes other than that the place has the wildest partys and the people are good
@jeimmyhernandez962 i think your miss understanding. As the guy didn't want his face recorded.
Bro you shouldve put that phone down as soon as you got the warning. Lucky you didnt go straight in 50 more feet. I live here.
My gut feeling told me to turn back. And to wrap it all up.

Lately, there seems to be an intent by travel bloggers to encourage people to go to "La Perla". To make it a tourist spot because "Despacito" was filmed there. So what? The place is ugly, none of their bars or restaurants is unique or better than what you can find in Old San Juan. And you can get in trouble or worse if you don't follow their spur-of-the-moment random "rules". Hard pass for me. Highly irresponsible to encourage anyone to go there.
Okok interesting, Would you still pay la perla a visit?
These travel bloggers are low-key sex tourist they go to DR, PR and every country for sex tourism then try to play if off as a travel blog and typically these travel bloggers are of the melanin type. As far as going to a world known ghetto like la perla to film that's just asking for trouble, that's like going to la 42 in DR, again asking for trouble.

La Perla was what they changed the stamp tuna too after dope spot got raided in the bronx 197 and Valentine. Latin kings spot. Wilson was the boss or one of em. Nephew Johnathan was my bud plug .
Seems like there is so much history
A few years ago it was dangerous if you weren’t from there, now days they’re ok with it. There’s some areas you can’t film or take pictures, and that’s in any Project, hood, ghetto (Barrio, barriada, caserio) of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 always go with someone thats from there and get the green light from the bosses. In La Perla you just gotta respect the rules, be humble and you’ll have the time of your life.
I totally agree with you.
Crazy is like if you bring a camera to someones house they will get mad 💀. I live in Puerto Rico man and la perla is not dangerous if you are not looking for trouble. Nosey tourist get clapped because they are nosey end of story
It's a neighbourhood that the public can walk around, not someone's house. That's a bad comparison.
@stafaislive it's a drug point plain and simple. Not a tourist spot. The politicians and police do nothing about it. You disappear in there, and they'll dump you elsewhere. I don't get the appeal.

There are projects in other parts of PR where tourists will never go. Not even people from PR just walk in if they don't live there. La Perla is much more chill considering that they allow tourists there. They get defensive because they are being invaded by tourists since it is in the Old San Juan. What? Nah thats wild
@stafaislive my man it's true. The two young men were supposedly trying to get some weed to smoke. They were filming with a camera supposedly. They we're asked to stop filming and that then they'd be served. Yet it was reported that the two men insisted on continuing to film and we're warned a number of times and then they supposedly got mouthy with the guy and that's when they got cornered and got beaten severely the one guy was fortunate to escape with a heavy beating his friend was beaten severely then set on fire for the disrespecting the area's rules. I don't agree with it but if your life is at stake for having a camera out, it isn't worth it. Just put it away. Apparently the two going men thought that since they too were from the "hood" but in main land America, that they were gonna be intimidating somebody or something.
