The reason Laura's vlog stands out to me among the growing number of vintage/thrift channels is the talent and care she puts into styling her finds. For example, the "weird wood thing", while adorable, did not jump out at me as a particularly interesting item. But later, seeing it on her shelf at home, I had to acknowledge what an incredible knack she has for mixing different design eras and materials into such beautiful and thoughtful displays. This truly inspires me and keeps me coming back. 🙂
My Grandma had a ceramic toothpick tree, which I was lucky enough to inherit. She stuck multi-colored mini gumdrops on the picks, which looked like little Christmas balls. The wooden one you found is BEAUTIFUL! I bet cheese and/or salami squares would look cute too.
I was going to gum drops too. They may not be everyone’s favorite, which is ok, because then you may not have to replenish it as often. I’m loving your Midwest junkin trip. I’m originally from MI. Thank you for taking us with you, again
For the tree toothpick holder, I thought of cherry tomato’s, but like the idea of gumdrops. My Mom had a plastic one & she always put gumdrops on it. So many possibilities.
I have that Geisha! I bought her for 6 bucks at the thrift store. Her base is smaller - just one level - but I adore her. She polished so beautifully! She is sitting right in front of me. It totally made my day that you found one!
The wooden tree toothpick holder was often used with colorful spiced small gumdrops on picks to look like a Christmas tree or other seasonal colors. It seems to me they were popular in like the late 50's-early 60's. LOL...I'm 75 so could be off a few years. Was a long time ago. Lovely find and frankly had forgotten all about them till you found this one. 😊 Brought back great memories!
Laura, you have such a way with words. You describe things in such a way as to give life to the pieces you buy. And I think each time I comment I say and will say again, you are so very knowledgeable, it is a joy to watch you. Thank you.
I had just said the green olives too and figured I would be the only one to say that. I love eating them and think as you do that they would look great on that little tree. ❤
Italian dressing marinated mini mozzarella balls, basil and cherry tomatoes on toothpicks look fantastic and you can change it up by swapping out ingredients and adding salami or al dente tortellini.. one of my go to party foods as it’s easy to assemble and can be eaten cold or warm
Too funny how those penguin ice buckets find you almost everywhere you go. I think you should start putting a number up each time you find one just for laughs and giggles. Fun to see the vintage shops in my home state that I need to go see!
What a great trip!! And look at what a significant jump in numbers your subscriptions have made. Congratulations on such wonderful vlogs. Pure delight:) I’m so happy for you and thank you for bringing us perfect utube viewing.
This is one of my all time favorite thrifting vlogs you have ever done! I used to live in Minneapolis for awhile when I was a child. These stores were the bomb! Thanks, Laura!
As an Argentinian (living in Spain), I can say that the gorgeous wooden vase and glasses' style is not typical of my country. The place they were made in, "Bariloche", is in Patagonia, where thousands of German immigrants went. So I guess that that folk art is more germany/Western European. Patagonia has a lot of Swiss/German style of architecture
As an Argetine, living in Sun Valley, Idaho, I tell you that 95 percent of people from Argetina come from Europe, and Bariloche, from where the set comes, is very European, look at Ceramica Bariloche and you shall see. It is not typical 100%, but it is not unusual either.
I enjoy going with you and Mia to the different cities and visiting the very interesting vintage shops, and, meeting the owners of these places too! There are so many creative people in the world and its so much fun to see their "collections". Great video today - thank you. xx
Pimento Olives on toothpicks would be really pretty because they are green & red! Great finds…I loved those stores in Minneapolis ❤ I absolutely Love the pitcher/cups 😊
Really awesome findings. Enjoy. Here in North East India 🇮🇳 we have the bamboo jug , glass, cups, mugs with the similar designs of the Argentina 🇦🇷 With love from SAM Guwahati, Assam, India 🇮🇳 ♥
I love this haul!! One day while going through a woodpile that a man dropped off for me while I was living on the Oregon coast, I found a large piece of wood that was shaped like an elephant leg and another of that was shaped exactly like the head of a giraffe … long neck and all … they are in storage for now, but I have huge plans for them!!! 💜💜💜
I am so happy for you and how your channel has grown. Your subscribers have more than doubled since I joined. Congratulations! Now we've gotta get you over the 100K hump. Good luck!
How amazing that you found the made in MN Belart mirror as a souvenir of your trip to MN!! I just recently thrifted a Belart piece for $4.99 (and I do love it!) but yours is way better 😍
Hi Laura. I just wanted to tell you that your videos are my very favorite to watch. I get so excited when my notifications tell me that you uploaded a new one. My style is different from yours but love watching you collect what you love and I think your home and wardrobe are beautiful. Just like you have said, you can appreciate many things even if it's not for yourself. I worked in design for years and I think that's what I loved most about it. Having the chance to work with other styles to create something for others.Your husband and niece are fun to watch also and I think your niece is so fortunate to be learning from you!! Thanks for the fun ☺
I live less than a mile from this wonderful place! Next time you come I have some AMAZING spots just outside the city in some ritzy neighborhoods where people donate unbelievable things. I'm addicted to your content...its official!!!! You're the best shopping partner, I'm sure of it!
Beautiful shops, people, pets and finds. I would use the wooden toothpick holder for a party with cheese and gerkins, etc, stuck into the holder. You could also use it to display solid bangles on it to photograph. The cuffs might be top heavy, the weight of the heavy stones might make the cuff lay down at an angle. Great fun, glad you both had a good adventure. The air B&B looked lovely 💕
Great finds. Love the Italian cups. They are worth every penny. I wouldn't part with the pitcher and cups either. With some items I always say, find another one. I have regretted selling a few things, I have never seen again. With the cool toothpick holder. You could put mini cocktail pickled onions on them. They come in red, green & white ones. Would look like Christmas baubles on the 🌲 tree 💓
Another great video!!! That mirror looks fabulous in your entry way! Got on your site yesterday and I absolutely LOVE the 1940's Zuni Needle Point Sterling set; it's beautiful!!! Lived in AZ for a while and love the style.
The wooden Christmas tree would look so fun with green and red gumdrops, which the SibKids (= Siblings Kids) will love while they play TTD with Jessie 🎉
Caprese salad bites the red and green will look absolutely beautiful on that tree .And you can have the balsamic glaze as a dip on the side .also I absolutely love the wooden cups and vase you found so beautiful.
Finally saw my first Penguin Bucket; I had to laugh. I loved the blue and green lamp. I cant believe you passed on it. It had Laura written all over it.
my california raised nephew got a job there after college, but only stayed 1 winter__LOL__my parents retired early and rented a corner in an antique co - op, every october they took a 1 month autumn colors buying road trip in their station wagon and said midwest was the best to pick
I make caprese salad bites which would be perfect for the wood tree. Just put a circle or cube of mozzarella cheese, a leaf of basil, and a tiny tomato on a tooth pick. Place all in a bowl and drizzle with balsamic salad dressing. When it's time to serve them, pop them into your wood tree with something underneath to catch the drips and serve! Enjoy, katworm
We were stationed in Minneapolis in the 70s. Lived in a Victorian farm house in White Bear Lake.😊 my dad got orders for Hawaii but my mom wanted to go home to Germany so she got her girlfriend married to general to change them to Germany. My never found out what happened. 😊
Ha ha Lola wasn’t haven’t it at first! The music you used in hunt and gather reminded me of circus music which felt right for that store! Love the butterfly earring holder and the brass geisha face! Fun trip!

What about stuffed olives.
I was going to gum drops too. They may not be everyone’s favorite, which is ok, because then you may not have to replenish it as often. I’m loving your Midwest junkin trip. I’m originally from MI. Thank you for taking us with you, again

I suggested the same!
My mom did the same. Red and green gumdrops.
That miror is amasing, my favorite!

Toothpick tree! Cuteeee. Caprese on a stick 😲😲😲
Such beautiful finds. Green stuffed olives or gum drops, or any sugared gummy type candy would be cute on the toothpick holder.
I had just said the green olives too and figured I would be the only one to say that. I love eating them and think as you do that they would look great on that little tree. ❤
Me too!

Too funny how those penguin ice buckets find you almost everywhere you go. I think you should start putting a number up each time you find one just for laughs and giggles. Fun to see the vintage shops in my home state that I need to go see!
Hi Laura and Mya! I found myself bobbing my head to your back ground music. The weird wood thing was my fav of your finds.
I've also got a handmade Tic Tac Toe board. My son loves playing with it. Ours is white & black. I got it at a Craft Show.

Colorful Gumdrops on toothpicks for your tree! Your nieces and nephews will love it!

Thank you for this info! That makes so much sense why it would have that European feel to them ❤️

Hi Laura, an idea for the toothpick holder could be Christmas decorated cake pops! I think that would be festive and cute🙂
Olives on the toothpick holder! Love your style!
I really like the simple, chunky, wooden shelves you put in that alcove. They display your finds so perfectly.
Love the landscape jasper cuff.
Maybe some miniature cake pops rolled in an assortment of sprinkles to emulate vintage christmas bulbs for your toothpick tree! Love this series Thx!
I love this haul!! Thank God they decided to go look! Great work guys!
Love love love the Asian woman statue! And of course those mugs!
I’m going the minimalist route ,but that don’t mean I can’t enjoy all those great finds. That was amazing!
I have my moments when I wish I was 😆

The tree could be decorated with green olives stuffed with pimento . Love the mugs, I also like anything from Italy. My husband is Italian.
Love all your choices today. Great treasure hunting!
Definitely gumdrops if you want candy or you could use fruit like grapes, cherries, strawberries, etc for a healthier option.
Can always make it an unhealthy option with fruit dip 😛😜🤪
I love green olives with the pimentos. That would look like Christmas but you would have to love them like I do.
21:00 I loveee the wood picture and cups. I like wood 🪵 elements!
Toothpick Christmas tree would look great with olives on it with the green olives w pimento on the tops of each pick.
Your house not only looks wonderful, I bet it smells wonderful too with the basil on the shelf!
Omg that colorful thrift stall was amazing! That geisha head on a wood stand is devine.Devine.. I'm so jelly!
If you do a martini bar you could put olives and onions on thee toothpicks. Also you could do cheese and meat next to a veg and dip set up.
That face statue 🤩 scoop it up!!
Great finds and wonderful stores!!
For the toothpick tree; do a mini Caprese salad. Cherry tomato, mozzarella mini balls, basil. Repeat twice depending on the length of your toothpicks!
How Amazing style finds! I want to travel vintage stores in USA. The bench was the best for me. Colorful happy unique colors.
MIA WAS LIKE JUMP AND ROLL!! LOL
Put green olives with the pimentos in them on the tooth pick tree! Loved your pickin’ trip!
Love the mirror.
It is like a WONDERLAND!!
Another great video!!! That mirror looks fabulous in your entry way! Got on your site yesterday and I absolutely LOVE the 1940's Zuni Needle Point Sterling set; it's beautiful!!! Lived in AZ for a while and love the style.
The mugs and the Geisha sculpture were a steal. That bedroom set is amazing. So much good stuff.
The wooden Christmas tree would look so fun with green and red gumdrops, which the SibKids (= Siblings Kids) will love while they play TTD with Jessie 🎉

You commented about the clouds! The cloud shapes you see in Manitoba, ND,SD and Minnesota are so different from elsewhere!
Hunt and Gather was a quirky place. I could spend an entire day in there ! Great finds in Minneapolis ❤️
Fun shop, thanks for sharing ❤
Finally saw my first Penguin Bucket; I had to laugh. I loved the blue and green lamp. I cant believe you passed on it. It had Laura written all over it.
Love tour MCM mirror and how it looks in your house. Although my house was built in the 1920s I decorate with Heywood Wakefield and flamingos!
my california raised nephew got a job there after college, but only stayed 1 winter__LOL__my parents retired early and rented a corner in an antique co - op, every october they took a 1 month autumn colors buying road trip in their station wagon and said midwest was the best to pick
I’ve learned so much from you about MCM since I started watching you. Tonight I found a Lane brutalist armoire for $300.
The Christmas tree is really cool. Maybe lollipops to decorate it? 🤔
Ohhh now this is brilliant! Just gotta find some that fit 🙌
Christmas colored gumdrops would be so cute on your toothpick tree Laura.
I think gumdrops would look so cute on the wooden toothpick tree!
I make caprese salad bites which would be perfect for the wood tree. Just put a circle or cube of mozzarella cheese, a leaf of basil, and a tiny tomato on a tooth pick.
