- Join us on another amazing hunt for historic treasures after storm Ceira hit our shores. Over a two day adventure, we find more exciting finds and stay on the beach after dark before we explore Whitehaven's eerie harbour!

I’ve been rewatching old episodes and my heart just does flip flops when you find all of your treasures. We were supposed to be coming to the UK and Ireland for a month in 2021 to celebrate my 50th birthday, but for obvious reasons that is now on hold until the world (hopefully) returns to a relatively normal state 😢 For now I will have to be satisfied with living out my mudlarking dreams vicariously through you lovely ladies.

@@NorthernMudlarks Gail and Alex, I have a couple of questions for you. If I may ask, what was the purpose of the miner's tags? I'm from the US and am not familiar with such things. Great fortune finding the piece of gold by the way.
Another question is what can/do you do with the really old coins you find, since they're so knackered and in some cases out of circulation, would you melt them down or turn them in to the FLO? Just a curious American here. 😃👋💟💫 Smashing finds ladies!

May you never have to deal with this horrible Coronavirus. I had it back in 2020 and was out of work for 2 months. I thought I would break my ribs from coughing so hard and so much. Fever, aches, etc.

While I watch a number of Mudlarking Vids, yours are the highlight of the week. I am an artist and really appreciate the cinematography and music that enhance the sense of place for the viewer. Alex, your shear delight in finding the smallest thing is joyful. The relationship with your Mom is clearly wonderful. When I watch, I am transformed for just a while to a Brit, wearing my Wellein, trudging thought mud or sifting through the rocks for history and treasures saved for me by the sea. In the time of Covid-19, you allow me to fly free again. Please tell me what those shining little nugs are?
Living in South Africa, I would be terrified to be out there in the dark... A remote location as well. You are sooo fortunate to live in a save country where you have the opportunity to follow your dreams and passions without fear. Enjoy it Gail and Alex. Wow! What an amazing trove of treasure! I love the ancient safety pin. I had no idea those were that old an invention. And the ouroborous snake and anchor and twisty number 2 were all so exciting. Did you ever find out what the green stopper-like thing you found near the beginning was? It must be amazing to live in a place where really *ancient* artifacts can be found washed up on the beaches. How lucky! Thank you for sharing this experience.

your gold appears to be decorated with what we jewelers call granulation. Etruscans and Celts were very good at this method.

Great video!! Me and my hubby had a wonderful time with you ladies mud larking while we are covid19 self isolating in Huntsville Alabama USA!! We’ve been to the UK 🇬🇧 several wonderful times. However, we have not had the chance to Mud Lark. So next trip we plan on going for sure! Love all your historical finds! And....WOW!! We put tiny beads on safety pins here in the US when I was in elementary school a good 40 years ago and they were called friendship pins.
My father worked as jeweler ( not to be confused with a jailer! LOL) early on in San Francisco. He made my mother some charms which were to teach the fine details in metal working. Mom would take them out to show us kids once in a while. I, being the youngest, actually was allowed to play dolls with them. There was an object in your finds that looked like the scissors that he made. my father would have so loved you guys for "The Hunt" as well as your craft! I would love to send you some of our Northern California agates. They are the best!!! Barbi jo Safes, wises, and lots kindnesses found and given!
