    So are these GM parts or aftermarket? Great vid!

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  Год назад

      These were OEM parts. Supposed to be installed by the museum but parts were not shipped in time so they just sent them to me. I could’ve taken it to the dealer but figured I’d give it a shot since it was easy parts lol. I did eventually replace the front lip and wing with aftermarket ones.

    Do you recall is the rivets on the rocker panel extensions were aluminum split rivets or nylon rivets?
    Also, we’re the holes in the rocker extensions bigger than the rivets?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  Год назад

      They were definitely plastic if I remember correctly. I can't remember the holes though. I never used them and they're still on the car years later with just the 3M tape they came with.

  • @bettermost
    @bettermost 2 года назад +1

    Could you just use tape on the bottom too? Instead of drilling?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  2 года назад

      I personally never did drill or use the tabs on the rocker panels and never had any issues. The 3M tape is very strong and runs the entire length of the rockers, it sticks very well as long as you clean it properly.

    • @bettermost
      @bettermost 2 года назад

      Thanks I'm going to do that as well. I just don't want to drill holes in the body.

    How long did it take for rocker gaurds and mud flaps? My dealership is installing mine now.

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  Год назад

      It wasn't super hard to do either. It took me about 2 hours to do everything, including filming which makes it longer. The Rocker panels go on with 3M strips, and a few screws/taps. The Rock guards snap into place where the old ones go, also with a few screws. I'd say without filming about 1 hour to do it all.

    PRO TIP - When installing 3M tape stuff like rocker extensions, wet the area with a baby soap and water mix, peel the tape and slide it on. The water will evaporate, then the tape will grap.

    I did the splash guard mod yesterday using GM parts. Yes, turning the front wheels L/R makes the install a lot easier. The extra tab is on the GM part as well.

    I got these both and the front splitter...but In Painted Carbon Flash Metallic. That rough plastic looks cheap IMO. The painted versions are super sexy.

      Yeah I’ve replaced them now with carbon flash. When I preordered at launch it didn’t really show you very well how they look in person.

    Good video. Helped in my decision to get the mudguards (ordered the side skirts in black from factory). The flared rear fender fronts will otherwise take a beating, me thinks.
    Thanks!

      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад

      Adrian - I really love the mudguards and glad I added them as well. They look modern and so easy to install that this will add a little more protection from the millions of rocks and pebbles it kicks up with the Michelin Pilots 4S from factory. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your new Corvette!

    STI Rocker Panel Extensions are $595 option.
    Seems like a very expensive item for all that is there unless you’re thinking it’s preventative damage control.
    Splash Guards VQK are $255, but seem more practical for stones, mud, tar and the occasional line painting/strips put down by the DOT. (Ever try to get that stuff off the side of a car?)
    What’s the thinking about these options?
    Do they work?
    Are they worth about $1,000?
    Should I get them on my 2022 C8 order?
    Thanks

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад

      I was pretty happy with my OEM ones and with my aftermarket wheels that stick out more than the oem wheels, they do a great job protecting the sides which was my main goal. I don’t think you need $600 ones.

    Are these different than SPLASH guards?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад

      If you didn't opt for these, they come with just little caps that offer no protection for the paint. These extend out enough to cover the width of the front tires to help prevent or reduce rocks from hitting the side of the car. These are indeed the splash guard option from Chevy.

    • @stephenr115
      @stephenr115 3 года назад

      I opted for splash guards so just wondering if there was an additional product out there with more coverage.

    How are the splash guards and rocker panel extensions working out? Seems like a great idea!

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад

      I’m really glad I got the splash guards and rocker panels. Helps protects the paint from rock chips because the tires pick up a lot of rocks. The rocker panels add protection to and I like the contrasting look.

    On the side rocker extensions, how much further do they stick out from the body rockers?

    • @DeeperImageAutomotive
      @DeeperImageAutomotive  3 года назад +1

      Jim not much at all. They are literally a cap over the stock rocker. These are about 1/4" thick maybe?
