Hey Pinkhat! I’m a 78 yr old combat Marine vet who bought the D5100 in 2009, when I got back from 38 months in Iraq….yes, I was in my 60’s while there! Anyway, what I found interesting in watching your video on “my camera” was at about 3:26 you’re explaining something and there is an “Alignment Grid” showing (with the “No memory card” in the middle!)…that I want to use that will help me to utilize the Rule of Thirds….but can’t find that Grid anywhere on my camera! Then I read some post that the grid was on the D5000 but was NOT on the D5100, but came back on the models AFTER the D5100. What are the facts? And, how do I find the grid?? BTW…was going to purchase an upgrade to do more Real Estate Photography for my wife, but after your vid and a couple of other sites show pics made with the D5100…I think I’m going to concentrate on improving my skills and try to do better with what that little camera is capable of!…in other words: if your pics aren’t as good as you’d like them…”It’s not the ARROW…it’s the Indian!” 😅
Thanks & Semper Fi - I hope you see this! -jerry in Texas
