I had a moment exactly like at 3:10 just two days ago on the Fox. Caught my first trout and i caught it on the fly, fly fishing for pan fish all summer really paid off, last year every cast spooked em and the few that didn't and managed to get a strike i missed by a mile. This year I caught a lot of beautiful brookies but the one real highlight catch(other than that first one of course) of the trip jumped out of the net and back in the stream just seconds before i could press the button for a photo. There really isn't a better place to be. Absolutely beautiful. If you go at the end of august check out the Seney Lumberjack festival. Good food, cheap beer, some entertainment games for kids and family and a horse pull event that is a lot of fun to watch. Giant horses in teams of two pulling insane weight. Almost wanted to get some wagers going lol.
awesome video ! i like most of your trout fishing videos! and your face when the fish jumped out of your hand literally u realized it accepted it and moved on in like 1 second..priceless
Nice! I caught my first brook trout on the Fox this Summer. Spent 14 days solo camping in state forest sites and stream hunting all over the UP. One of my favorite places to be in the summertime. I'm looking forward to checking out the Driggs next year.
Thanks for doing catch and release. I see way too many people (especially in Michigan) keeping yearling/small trout just to say that they caught their limit. It's refreshing to see someone enjoying the resource but being conservative so other people can enjoy it too, Subscribed.
I am from Maryland and most of them Brookies looked big to me haha. I was in Michigan a couple of years ago and caught some big Brownies during the green Drake hatch. But I never made it to the Upper Peninsula. I have to get back up there. Nice video guys.
I spent three weeks fishing all of the UP streams. Been fishing there for more than fifty years. Thanks for bringing us into your world. It’s a special place. Where are the pasties?
Always a fun place to fish. Just went by the fox taking some stuff for my son at NMU in Marquette. You should try the streams there. Lots of nice size brookies and rainbows there. Love your videos guys. When you want to ice fish munuscong bay. Let me know
After watching your lake trout video I had to get out myself with a cheap rod I have left...I caught 1 small brookie and seen a few others...Water is real low and warm...I think if I would have went out at night I would have did better but it was still fun...You guys sounded like you did great...no matter the size catching brookies is fun fun...
@@rogrog7070 Well, you don't have to worry about these guys depleting a brookie population. They scare 99.9% of the fish away simply by their approach to a stream. Otherwise, yes, there is great brook trout fishing in the Western UP. It's been almost 50 years since I was there last but my brother went back last Fall and caught them hand over fist.
Been fishing it for 20 years. Best was to fish the Fox is with light tackle...like a larger ice fishing rod with 4lb line. Small bell weight and some #4 Aberdeen hooks with leaf worms...
I caught my first brookie on the Fox! Also, some yahoo on one of your other vids is claiming that you guys were up there taking pinks off of their redds, but I haven't seen anything egregious in your vids. I hope if you were doing that it was out of ignorance. Anyway, thanks for the vids! Subbed and liked
That’s correct. However Lake trout are a Lake dwelling fish, not stream dwellers. Lake Trout spend very little time, if any, in streams. This includes all subspecies of Lake Trout found in the Great Lakes. Some anglers will catch Lake Trout from time to time during the Salmon spawning season as they follow spawning Salmon and eat their Eggs, but not commonly. Lake trout are very opportunistic and can be found feeding in a wide array of Water depths, Structure and Temperatures. Certainly a wonderful fish to target and the table fare is much improved with the introduction of the invasive Gobie. Lake trout are truly one of my favorite fish to target.
short spin rod like that will out fish the most patient fly guy on a small stream like. if ur gonna compete you'd have to be throwing something big and flashy, minnow imm, bugger, cast and tear, that's the spin rod. that is unless a hatch is hammering.
Ive always had better luck throwing streamers on my fly rod. I think the materials on the flies more closely resemble the movements on a minnow. But in close quaters spin rod definitly. Have their place
Scott Seifert my 14 old with his ultralight out fished two older guys one day a few years back on that river, in his shorts and water shoes throwing rooster tails an Mepps spinners. The one guy said “I feel like I wasted 300 bucks , when all I needed was a 10 dollar pair of shoes” Was a good day for sure..
Michigan Gone Wild it only has Brooke Trout I fished the stretch where there was a camp site but I can’t remember what it was called we fished with short spinning rods and hook and worm we caught 11 keepers

Well said. Agreed.
I agree how big does a trout have to be to keep in Michigan and when does the season open?
It’s going to be my first trout trip

Heith Gagnon You are absolutely right Gonzo. We don't care if it is six inches or 18 inches it's always fun going after brookies.
Not the stealthiest of river entrances..... how many did you chase away with that plop?
Looks like a very tight stream.
The Bucks and Brookies are great up here in the Keweenaw! Try the West end of the U.P. for Brookies we have some big uns!
no don't there's nothing here to see. All brookies and bucks left and are waiting in WI...

What are the best flys in Michigan rivers in early spring?
Greg Stamatopoulos BWO’s are a hot fly around the area we fish, that time of year.
Michigan Gone Wild what do you recommend in the lower peninsula?

I don’t understand fisherman who walk chest deep through the holes in the river then don’t understand why they don’t catch fish.
Hey Jordan I saw u at the carp
I went here in august it was great caught 3 brookies
I caught my first brookie on the Fox!

Great video, love the Fox. Brook trout aren’t the only native trout though. Lake trout are also native, and technically both are char, not trout.

Hemingway fished the Fox around Seney.

I've been to Jay's sporting goods to
+EB Clone Customs Pretty cool store.
Nice to see you release fish for a change. But naming Upper Peninsula's rivers is a well known no no.
Wisconsin Flyer , with the internet there is no such thing as a secret fishing hole anymore. Just hope people practice catch-and-release.

The river is mentioned in countless books. The real key is to mention so many rivers that it spreads everyone out
Does the fox only have brookies or are their rainbows and browns in there too?
I can't speak for the entire river but it appears to only have Brookies in this stretch. We only caught Brookies that day.
Michigan Gone Wild it only has Brooke Trout I fished the stretch where there was a camp site but I can’t remember what it was called we fished with short spinning rods and hook and worm we caught 11 keepers
Looks like you're catching a lot of bait.
