- My first brown trout - and it's a tank! Brookies, rainbows, and browns on this great fall day. Huge thanks to @darkwaters5217 for putting me on the fish! I owe him big time! Please check out his channel to see some of his awesome adventures. This video could not have been made without his pictures and awesome filming that allowed for the epic release shots. Thanks!
In respect of local anglers I do NOT name any river/stream that I fish. Please respect my "no-name" policy and do NOT post the names of any spots in the comments. Thank you for understanding!

Beautiful fish 👍
@fishinwiththegriffins7304 Oh yeah. I want to do some more brown fishing this fall.
Nice video and fish. I like how you blend in music with your videos in a good way 😀
@J Blocker Thanks, man. I do my best to make something that I'd like to watch too.
We’re those resident browns? Gorgeous fish man nicely done! I have not done a trifecta in one day but a few yrs ago I took my son to Montana and we caught rainbows, brookies, browns, and cuts all in a week. Pretty amazing trout fishing out there in a designated wilderness area.
@Eirc Wakeman This was a migratory brown - the resident browns are usually much smaller. However, there are places to find them where they get 20 and higher inches.
@@HaightsWanderings thanks. I thought the color was different. Down here in troll land lake run browns are more silver and football-shaped
I’ve been a trout fisherman my whole life. Took me 10 years to catch a brown like that and another 10 to catch a second! Awesome fish! And yes the trifecta has been completed multiple times! I have a few streams here in the lower peninsula where all three species can be caught! Love the video my man!
@Eric Demers That's awesome! I am sure it will take me at least another 10 years. I know the lower has some great locations too!
Would love to come up and fish with you. Have done a few charters but never in the UP. Going into semi retirement next year and hope to do a lot more fishing.
@DetroitHomeInspector Reach out early next year via email and maybe we can put something together!
Holy shit, this is my freshman year high school English teacher. Good to see you’re doing well
@Jacob Lafave Well, hello. I hope you are doing well as well! We are still surviving up here in the UP. It's been quite a few years!
Good stuff..that brownie was a monster. I must say though there's something magical about those brookies....especially if you can catch one on a fly rod. Biggest one i ever caught came from the u.p.
@straight flush I was very humbled to catch that brown! And those brookies had some spectacular colors on them too. I hope to recreate that success next spring for the trout opener.
What a great video. What a beautiful spot. Thanks for sharing
@Jim D I am glad you liked it! It was a super special day and special fish for me!
Trout are beautiful fish!! Nice job on the brown! I've never been fishing for trout, but it is on my bucket list for sure.
@MegKT11 They are super pretty - the differences they can make between their spawning colors and normal colors is pretty rad too. They are not always so bright.
Beautiful fish
@Naps Thanks, that brown was delicious (looking!).
Great video looks like a productive run
@David Rosbrugh Yeah - it was a ton of fun that day!
Nice gator jaw brown, Benjamin!
@Barney Ewing I would have taken any brown, but I was supremely happy with that one!
I caught the trifecta one day this summer. It was an awesome day on the water!
@Mike Wilkins That's awesome. I am sure during the summer it would be great - just wet wading and catching them all! :)
Good fish man!
No brookies for me. Browns, Rainbows, steelhead and Chinook and coho salmon all in a day once.
@Nick brown Thanks!
@Nick Brown That's an amazing day. The salmonids and char all together! Killer fishing.
I lived on the west branch of the rifle river near West branch 30 years ago....zero fishing pressure.. I used to light the coals, then walk to the holes and bring home a brown...nothing better. another great video
@lucky haskins Zero fishing pressure sounds like heaven! And it's been a while since I've eaten fish. Sounds pretty good right now!
@@HaightsWanderings i also practice catch and release,of course....which does allow for a properly harvested meal when desired....
@lucky haskins For sure! I am already thinking I might keep a brace of trout next year to do a catch and cook.
Righteous!
Congrats bud. Nice buck
@Dark Waters Thanks man, I owe ya!
@Drake Peterson Thanks, man! First brown! Probably will be 10 years before I catch another one :)
Have you ever caught a " Monster Brookie, a Monster Rainbow and a Monster Brown all on the same day? "
Yup :)
Ever fish the Otter river ?
I love the UP, best place ever. eh !
@Dan McCarthy I have not. Some day I would like to though!
Great stuff boys.
@Clark Wilson Thanks! Everything just fell together for this video. I was happy how it turned out.
What’s the best weight rod for fishing trout in Michigan beginner
@Edward Perez I really am not a good person to ask with this question. If you're only going after brook trout then maybe a 4 wt but if you are going for browns or any lake run fish then a 5-6 or 7-8 if you might run into steelhead. It really depends. Also, I am not a good person to ask with this question. Good luck!
@@HaightsWanderings thanks for the reply..
Where do you guys recommend going? My husband and I are coming to fly fish in escanaba. Staying in a cabin west of downtown escanaba. We’ve only ever fly fished in CO. Thanks in advance!
@Jaime Lindberg I don't really know much about the area. Although I have heard of some good fly fishing waters that direction. Good luck finding fish!
What Kind of flies/ lures u guys using?...Not that i ever go fly fishing, but one day...u betcha
@Thaddeus keyes I believe it was some type of a nymph that day. I can't remember to be honest. Something small and buggy!
What are the odds any of you lost $20 in the river that day? I was there this past Tuesday, caught a nice brown and then immediately found $20 in the river after I released it 🤣
@grant maurer You can send that to my P.O. Box :) hahaha
@@HaightsWanderings ya....hey Grant. I lost a 20 also....
DA UPPER slam . I pulled that one off on the Autrain . Awesome video dude.
Trout bums 4life
@Brandon Druckenmiller I like the Yooper slam! That's awesome!
I can't believe I spelled yooper wrong duh
@Brandon Druckenmiller No worries my man! All is good! :)
