I test drove a Polestar 4 in Germany. The staff asked me what I thought of it. I told them that cruise control was very chaotic. They tried to explain to me that I was simply not used to driving with this system and that Volvo drivers feel more familiar with it. I then commented on other things related to software that weren’t great and again they tried to convince me that it was all deliberate and that I was the problem.😂
I really think the software is not Polestar worthy at the moment.
That is surely the proper way if you want to sell the car.

It's not acceptable to release a product that might kill you with beta software(at best). I really hope people don't buy these products and companies stop outsourcing software purely on costs basis.
I can confirm all the software bugs, which is not acceptable for a 90K car (full spec with performance option). Driving one for the last two weeks now. That being said, the drive feeling is awesome with the tuned suspension in the performance pack option.

These digital rear view mirrors are terrible if you wear glasses with varifocal lenses. You just cannot see anything unless you move your head position, which makes it hard to keep focus on the road ahead.
really enjoyed how you pointed out the flaws in the software on the steering wheel, "lets get out of the danger zone" and no confirmation before resetting the numbers, superb, they should get you in on the design team!
When I see touch control buttons on the wheel, after my Golf 8 experience.....I walk away regardless of the car.
yes, I do love the physical scroll wheel buttons in my Tesla - and I can control almost everything with these two guys! :-)
I have ID.4 and really like the Touch Buttons, maybe skill issue?😉
@@M-hq9xzi get very annoyed how the next and back track for music is implemented. I constantly seek music forward instead of skipping.
Regarding rear window camera focus instead of mirror, when you are above 50 years old you most often need progressive glasses which makes you see near objects at the lower visual field like the instrument panel, but it will not work at all with something that is in your upper visual field. I have mentioned this in other forums, glad you showed it. It is not something an elderly person can get used to.
The cheap glossy plastic touch thingies on the steering wheel remind me of VW, just awful experience. No matter how good the rest of the car is, I will never put up with this crap again.

had the EXACT same issues with the Assist systems on my test drive, together with the digital rearview mirror and the horrendous buttons it completely turned me off to the car.
I don't know about pricing in Norway, but for this to compete with the ID.7 in the Netherlands it needs quite a pricedrop still. Specced similarly to my ID.7 tourer the Polestar 4 is 15k eur more expensive.
Got my dualmotor longrange 100kwh/400kw for 58 600 euros.They are running launch campain now.Extremly spaceous inside,and way way faster than the ID7.
@@trinitonv8 That's much better pricing indeed. To spec a polestar 4 to the level of my ID.7 here in the Netherlands the price goes over 80k euro for a single motor variant.
The ID.7 GTX with same specs is same price as P4 dualmotor performace here in Denmark. Polestar is a much nicer car though.
Same controls on the steeringwheel as the Zeekr001 that is also buggy. Zeekr001 was on my shortlist but after a test drive I was cured.
I got the Zeekr 001 Privilege. I don’t mind those buttons on the steeringwheel. Very easy to get used to. The driving is suberb imho.
If you want to sell cars with confidence, then surely the product should work when you deliver it, right?
Not any more. Just send them out and label anyone that complains a climate denier/ludite, anti ev etc.

Hey Bjorn, despite you are right to complain about the lag with resume acc, at least there is resume button. Tesla, still requires much more input to put you into same speed when you re-activate cruise, even for a lane change...
Other issues will be fixed for certain with otas, I am concerned however price which may not be fixed that fast 😮

Test drove a Polestar4 recently and yeah, the haptic buttons without labelling is another level of stupid. Otherwise the car worked very well and drove fantastically. Rear mirror you got used real fast to it. I hope they fix the bugs, otherwise it is a terrific car. But yeah, that Polestar makes the haptic mistake is one thing, but that VW makes such a horrible Golf as the MK8 after the MK7 is unbelievable. Now they are freaking out because sales are dropping as a rock. Yeah, give us a new Mk7 and I tell you people will buy again. Do car companies not have test panels with users? It is insane.
I watched many videos about EVs. I test drove a couple of cars, and I sat in about 12 cars before deciding. I wanted a car that was designed traditionally so to say, with physical buttons on the steering wheel. I finally decided on a Volvo C40 - and I just love driving that car.
“Seems more and more cars are pulling a Tesla” 😂😂. That is so what came to my mind too as it was pointed out there are hardly any physical buttons to play with. I like control buttons I can touch. I guess that’s just a personal thing.
I think it's just a thing for almost everybody. The auto companies are ultimately trying to save money because "schumtz" gets into the little gaps between physical buttons and makes them fractionally less reliable..
But if you don't sell the car, you don't save sh¥% do you?

That’s such a bad design of the buttons. It’s literally the appliance on the road and labeled as one too😂. One thing going for polestar is the colours. They are amazing but well.. pricey.
After the Nio EL8, Polestar 4 is a holy crap.
Having invested in a Polestar 2 in 2022, it is a concern how the reputation of the business in the UK continues to limp along. The P2 had software issues but looking back, these now feel unimportant and the car's performance gives me confidence for the longer term. We do not need to sell or hand back the vehicle, thankfully.... but I can't see how the business believes their buggy product development would be attractive to someone who only has it for 3 years. Not good.
Yeah. I want to like this car and was waiting for you to get hold of one. Have had 2 Tesla M3P over the last 5 years, and they're undeniably good in many way - efficiency, software, power, general reliability (so far). But i fancy a change. I need a car that can easily do 250 miles in all UK weather in comfort, to match my Tesla. The idea of no rear window didn't bother me, but as someone who uses varifocals i wonder if the refocussing issue will be especially difficult, given that the 'near accommodation' zone of my glasses is at the bottom of the lens? Will i have to tilt my head right back to focus on the 'mirror'??

Ah, first world problems! I think you nailed it when you talked about safety, messing with controls that weren’t working properly. When you live with EVs, powered by computers, you get used to software updates improving things and correcting bugs. But this took bugs to a new level, to the point where someone could get hurt. I get that companies are trying to get new models to market in a timely manner, but Polestar and others need to make sure these bugs don’t result in accidents, government safety agencies investigating and legal action - Tesla included. We aren’t crash test dummies, whether we buy these cars, or are victims of driver inattention. That said, I like a lot of what I see in the Polestar 4. It just isn’t ready yet.

That mirror focus thing was a biggest problem for me while test drive. Rear view mirror is on your face if you have close driving position. Also HUD didn't work and I thought the car didn't have autopilot because it did the same streering from left to fight.

One thing for sure, there's no "I bought the new Pulsar" from you anytime soon. lol. Are "press" cars on par with, for example a Pulsar I could buy at the dealer OR are the versions different? Are they equipped with the same version of software? Just curious.

I'm afraid this car is a complete non-starter, isn't it? The software clearly isn't ready for prime time and that might be fixed in a couple of months.. BUT.. not the lack of back window and the steering wheel buttons. For these two it's pretty much back to the drawing board. But does the brand have the loyalty that can afford them the time to go back to the drawing board? Really not sure.
I drive a Renault Megane - E-tech with a digital mirror, and it took me like 3 days to realy get used to it (not wearing glasses). And the thing with "you cant tilt youre Head, its always the same picture" is, that i see more in this one picture than a mirror can show me. But its kind of weird in the beginning.
The car industry and the gaming industry are going hand in hand nowadays. Bugs over Bugs and overpriced as hell...

I don't get it, China has a gazillion ppl, none of them software developers... And man, ABCD (always be checking colors in daylight). This color looks so much better than in the configurator. As much as I like the design of the car, it seems to be work in progress.
With the amount of software glitches, are you sure you want to trust the only way of checking what's behind you in the hands of a single camera? The car is horrendous.

@@stevelupton2533 Van and truck have extended side mirrors to help, this car does not. Furthermore, van and trucks are typically not driven by the average joe, the target of the Polestar.

This is basically a Zeeker 001 without a backwindow.
The interior is such a mess.. haptic bs and unused space where they could have installed some shortcut buttons.
On my test drive the cruise control also didn’t work. That’s a no. I had the EX30 for 5 months before I returned it. The software seems to be made by the same dodgy chinese students. Not good enough.
This car seems to be loaded with bad design. No rear-view mirror, steering wheel buttons with haptic feedback that often do not work and when they do work they are extremely laggy, weird software bugs.
If it cost ~20k EUR, then one might say: "It is not great, but it is not terrible, either". However, this car's price starts at over 55k EUR. :facepalm: Yes, it has a large battery. But battery capacity is not everything. And on top of the bad design and software bugs, it also seems fairly inefficient (~220 Wh / km @ 120 km/h).
This was meant to be the first car with the new mobileye system that’s similar to tesla Fsd 🤣🤣 can’t even get lane cruise control to work. No wonder everyone is ditching Mobileye

Har nettopp kjørt 180 mil i Sverige med min Polestar4 Longrange dual motor.ACC har funket 90% av tiden.Min har ikke Pilot pakken,da jeg kan styre og skifte fil selv.Men angående performance modus som kobles ut ved aktivering ved ACC er jo fornuftig.Normalt vil man jo kjøre mest økonomisk på cruise,og kun bruke en motor innkoblet.ACC-Hud og tildels klimanalegg trenger software fix.Og det kommer framover.Polestar2 hadde også endel barnesykdommer i starten.På det meste som kom OTA hver 5 uke.Polestar4 blir bedre og bedre,slik som Polestar2 ble.Jeg er allefall fornøyd med min Polestar4 så langt.Komfortabel,romslig og sprek bil.

Will be identical to LR AWD. Björn got almost same consumption with SR and LR AWD.
@@baizerx Yes but between the SR and LR use the same rear motor. The LR RWD uses the new performance rear motor, the 4D2, which is appearantly more efficient. One major difference is that the peak power is at a higher vehicle speed, 110 kmph instead of 75 kmph. For most E-motors that means that the peak effciency is also at this higher speed, so this LR RWD should be more efficient at highway speeds.

I'm getting so tired of all these settings for basic things like mirrors and glove box being put into 3-4 infotainment submenus. This needs to stop. I refuse to buy a car with this unnecessary complexity.

Software done by Bethesta, EA, UBi Soft or so.... Youn can get an early acces and you can start 3 Day's before final release.....🤑🤮

I believe, you can shortly buy some Sticker in China, which will give you a haptic feeling, which direction you are actually clicking. The same ist available for the Zeekr 001 pre Facelift steering wheel.

This will be my next car after nearly 4 happy years with my Polestar 2. Nothing can beat this regards price point and quality and i have test driven all the competitors. I wouldnt even say this is a Tesla competitor, because Tesla is trash. Never ever a Tesla again.
why no Tesla or some MEB platform car? This seems to be a super buggy car compared to the polestar 2... overpriced chinese car.
Yet a Tesla Model 3 is still way more efficient ,has by far better software and is also better value.
@@alancobbin i had a Tesla model 3 before. Yes it has better range and software but thats only it. The quality , ride handling , service , and materials are shit compared to Polestar. And it breaks down all the time also. Not only me but i know many people who had tons of issues with their Teslas.
