My 2 cents to the political discussion: I made a product focussed review, clearly, but also mentioned the Elon Musk discussion in the end, obviously I am the only reviewer who dared to mention it because we don't just follow marketing and PR talk but also go in-depth on different topics. You cannot ignore it at this point. Of course it does create discussion, it's weird that I am put between "How dare you showing a Tesla product" and "how dare you raising a discussion about Elon Musk" - totally the opposites. So most obviously you cannot make it right for everyone, but you have to include this into a review because it is a very important thought / discussion for a lot people / car buyers. In any case, I made this point here as objective as possible and presented different approaches to take this. And if Elon really did a Nazi gesture or not is actually not the main point, the main point is that many people worldwide perceived it as one, that's already damaging enough. And he himself is asking for free speech, so we should be free to talk about it. Clearly, I cannot make it right for everyone's personal or political opinion, I try to make it as balanced as possible while staying true to myself. And true to myself means that I am not afraid of speaking up and raising questions and concerns. We don't have to agree on everything, but a vivid discussion with polite manners is always welcome. I'm sad that in today's world, it seems there is only polarizing and hate, while we can also be of different opinion and still treat each other with respect.
Thomas, it takes a brave man to at least admit that you clearly gave your audience the impression that the greeting was in fact a Nazi salute. If you really think differently, please make it clear to your audience in a next video on Tesla ok?
In addition, the reason that many people perceive it as one is because of the questionable role the MSM plays in portraying everything and everybody that/who deviates from their (almost holy) preferred narrative. As taxi driver I spent 350-450€ on fuel each month, I have option to add charger in garage. I am not that much for green stuff but my wallet said, it is much cheaper to buy and run electric car overall.
Thomas the total liter number for Tesla is using SAE measurement standard (all the way to roof) but for example German and Korean brands use VDA (all the way to parcel shelf). Feel like you need to mention this. :)
As a non german, I found Ulf Poschardt's stance on Elon Musk refreshing. It is not as black and white as one might perceive. Musk has its quirks, but is clearly not a nazi. As a Tesla owner, I am a little bit afraid of parking my car. An environment is created where it seems to be okay to vandalise Tesla's. I really dislike that and I will never side with groups that defend that or help create that environment.

15:15 it can now also automatically switch between drive and reverse during maneuvers (e.g. 3 point turn). From the Model 3 owners manual: Auto Shift (Beta) can shift between Drive and Reverse, or out of Park, to assist with actions such as turns, parking, or reversing out of a parking spot. To enable, touch Controls > Pedals & Steering > Auto Shift (Beta), where you can select between On or from Park.

Another fine video Thomas and greetings from California. In 2015, I bought a Tesla because it was the 1st EV that was cool - really, really cool. Way back then, Elon and Tesla were leading the charge for a more sustainable future. Nowadays we see a totally different Elon and a different EV marketplace. With Elon in mind, we recently sold our Model Y and drive a lovely Genesis EV in its place. As nice as this new Model Y appears, as long as Elon is driving the company, we won't be buying new Teslas. Glad you brought up Elon in your review. Fight the hate that will surely come!

about the price: attention! this Launch Edition inclues a series of historically available extras (color premium, hook, 20inch wheels ana acceleration-boost, about little short of 8000 euro on their own), plus eventual less critical esthetic upgrades (fake-alcantara, premium carpets and extra under-door lighting). If most of those extras would have been added to 2024 Long Range (standard list price, ignoring for a moment the current additional discounts to empty the stock), the final price would not be that much different. Therefore it is not fair to say the Juniper is more expansive, but only that at the moment it is only available in an expensive configuration. Within the next 6 months we can expect the other 'known configurations' to be out and then it will be possible to spec it more conveniently. There are also chances the acceleration boost will not be available for the 2025 LongRange, nor the hook for the 2025 Performance (both the case for M3Highland at the moment).
Yes. You mentioned expected pricing in the video (which by the way, for what it matters, I found one of the best Juniper review out there). I was just expanding on it for the comment section as I sensed some did not get it.
You're right that the company owner can't be ignored if you are thinking of buying this car. It potentially has all sorts of ramifications for things like future resale value, the attitude of other motorists and citizens towards you as an owner, perhaps even software updates in the future if he decides something weird. And when you pay your 50K, some of it goes to a political cause you may be violently opposed to. That's not something car buyers have had to consider for a long time. If the car was by far the best in its class, you might think harder about these issues. If there was no alternative. But there are plenty of alternatives. This is a late update that partially addresses some major shortcomings to a car that feels its age, but doesn't make the Model Y the default choice by any means. That's a problem for Tesla. Even if it was best in class I think the Musk issue would be a dealbreaker for me. As things stand, I would not buy this car under any circumstances. And that's a real shame because Tesla is a great company and I'm desperate to see how they progress things like autonomous driving etc.

That car looks like a great improvement over current Model Y. I love my current TMY, having owned toyota, subaru, BMW, Infiniti, Nissan and Lexus, Tesla Model Y is by far my favorite - charging at home, minimal maintenance - just tires and refilling windshield wiper fluid thus far at 80,000 miles. Honestly I can care less about the CEO, a lot of great engineers and factory workers worked hard to put together this package. They count the most.
When a CEO plays such an outsize role in the culture and politics of basically the entire world, it is hard not to link a purchase of this brand with support for him or at least ignorance of what he’s doing. You can recognise that the cars are pretty good, the rockets are amazing, so are the satellites, and there are a lot of talented good people working for his companies. But he’s become a bully and an awful role model for any kind of leadership. He thinks he’s above the law and is even trying to interfere in elections including in your home country Thomas. Just like with a lot of these far right leaders, the hypocrisy is also astounding. He’s complaining about pronouns and wokeness but hasn’t said a single negative word about anything in China. Other brands also sell crate electric motors for ev conversions. He already lost customers before this, thats why we see so many other EVs on the road from Ford, to Kia, to GM, Hyundai etc. All of those would have been Tesla customers

Dear Lea and Thomas. I started watching your channel about a year ago when I was looking for an EV for lease as my company is making the switch to EV's. During that journey I stumbled on many channels here on RUclips. A lot of them are forgettable, brand influenced, personally influenced etc, only a few are really objective. Out of the objective ones I still watch Instant Auto Vlog - IAV (Dutch), It's Only Electric (Swedish) and of course Autogefühl. Not only are all three channels objective, but all presenters have a calm and informative way explaining the car and it's features as if you are sitting in the car yourself. Bonus points for Autogefühl in the way you describe the interior and exterior, really really excellent the way you do that! Congratulations on another excellent review! That being said, I will also address the elephant in the room 🙂 I think you are 100% correct in your review by talking about the Musk issue. As far as I am concerned this makes very much part of the car and the brand. The Hitler salute is not the main issue with Musk. It is just the last drop for many in the events surrounding Musk the last few months on the international stage. Calling out politicians, applying censorship, supporting far right groups etc. Musk is not stupid, he knew damn well what he was doing. And it had its effect: again he managed to polarize and draw attention on himself. Sucking up to Trump is of course part of his plan to expand his business and wealth. More and more people in Europe are disgusted with Musk's behaviour, so it is only logical this would have an effect on sales, so you are 100% correct to include that in your review. Personally I am curious if we will see a big effect in Europe in the sales or even see anti Musk/Tesla groups rise up (or maybe this has already started?). Either way, a model Y Juniper was originally on my shortlist but I am now very happy I did not wait for it, and hear that a lot around me. Do you know or care what CEO of Audi, BMW, Mercedes or any other company out there thinks? 99% of buyers who purchase these vehicles don't give a shit who the CEO even is, who the board members are, what they politically think, etc. They have no idea who these people are and have no clue who they support politically and what side they take. Why should there be any difference with Elon Musk I can't get it? I buy the product, I don't buy it because I help someone grow something, I buy it because it's the best car for my money. I was sure that model Y juniper was my next car and was waiting for this over a year. In between , things changed a lot. I was a fan of Elon, and now i can not stand him. That justure was the last straw.
As a black Tesla enthusiast here in America, I really appreciate you bringing up this discussion and framing the question as you do at the end. Very well put. Many people have ignored this for the sake of the one or two personal interests that are easier to focus on. There's a huge political engine that makes the path to profit smoother for people in business. I'd rather have that be for companies (without leaders) that don't espouse extreme ideologies that don't take into account the principles that serve all humanity and society.

Since i have a long torso and at 1.95 m i almost always hit the roof with my head even in the lowest seeting position. Has the seets been set lower in this new model Y. In the old one i found that the seats were set to high even in the lowest position. When i leaned forward i hit my head in the roof, and thats not safe if you have an accident.

I've been a long time Tesla advocate who owned a 2019 Model 3 for 5 years, and now a 2024 Model 3 Performance. I've also been a Tesla investor for many years. I bought the 2024 car at the end of Q3, to some extent to do my part to help Tesla's quarter. Make no mistake, it's a great car. But would I buy another Tesla at this time. No. While it may be unfair to judge Tesla by the actions of its part-time CEO, the Tesla Board has a responsibility to get rid of this guy. Musk deserves all the credit in the world for making the company what it is, but at this point he is only harming his creation. Until the Tesla Board finds a new CEO, one who doesn't actively alienate it's customers, one who manages the company full time, and one who doesn't engage in simply unacceptable behavior, I will not buy another Tesla product. My hat's off to you for bringing this issue up, as it's gotten bad enough that in spite of my love for Tesla vehicles and what the company stands for, Musk's behavior is simply unacceptable. Thanks for what you do.
HUD would have been much more useful than the rear monitor. The monitor in back is too low and would make people sick watching it during driving. Great example is found in Zeeker 7x

Woah Nelly! First, start with a recent YT video titled “The REAL story of how Elon "stole" Tesla” by Slidebean channel. The man is an extremely dishonest human being. One lie after another, week after week. Last year he tweeted about not being willing (later changed his mind) to allow Alex Jones back on twitter because of how he profited from his lies about the Sandy Hook school children. He went on to say he held his own child in his arms as he took his last breath. Shortly after, his ex-wife replied to his tweet, correcting him by stating she was the one who held their child, not him. Elon did not reply to her tweet accusing him of lying. He remain silent. Something he rarely ever does when called out. The diver who rescued the trapped kids in the cave said what Elon wanted to do would not have worked. That alone started Elon on a mission to retaliate against the man. He hired a private investigator to try and find dirt on the man. He found nothing but decided to call the man a p-word. When the diver sued, Elon claimed the p-word in South Africa means something else. It does not mean something else. When covid began, Elon made a bet with his then-good friend Sam Harris. Elon claimed covid cases would not reach 35,000 cases. Sam won the bet that Elon would have to donate $1 million to charity. His comments are the same as any other racist person who assumes a person with black or brown skin can’t possibly be the best or even very good at any high-ranking position. Thomas thanks for the review. It would have been much easier for you to just review the car but I understand why you felt it right to set out the different views buyers / potential buyers of Tesla cars have about Musk. In democratic countries freedom of speech is important as is respecting different viewpoints- even ones you might disagree with.
In Dallas, TX almost no one heeds the speed limit. I am 76, drive a Prius and try to adhere to the signage, but even if I am going a little over, everyone blows by me. I mention this relative to your comment about either having a HUD or some instrumentation in front of the driver to more easily see your speed in the new Model Y. A similar situation may exist in Austin, TX, though they often have gridlock. I have 20+ years driving a Prius so am used to center displays. Also have EX30 on order with same display setup. I don't think it will be a problem.

It looks ok, but I'm waiting to put my money down on the Xiaomi YU7 because it will have 800-volts, vehicle to load, heads-up display, massaging seats, bigger battery with more range and faster charge times at a lower price than the entry level MY.
- 800V is irrelevant for cars. Only increases cost. - V2L same. Unless you are camping often, you don't need it. - HUD is a matter of preference. I don't see any value in it. - Massaging seats is the same, I don't want it, and don't see value in it. If you absolutely have to have it, I understand. - Does it have more range? Be mindful of test cycles, the Chinese one is very inaccurate. Can't compare to European or American ratings. - Also, range is at best a nice to have, but shouldn't be a high priority. Having access to the Supercharger network is much better. With an excellent charging network like that you only need range about 2-3 hours of driving with 60% range to road trip without any inconvenience. The Model Y can do that, if you don't drive too fast. - The price is also good where you live? Is it even available outside of China? The EU and US put big tariffs on Chinese cars.
@@sokacsavok The CEO of Xiaomi even says Tesla is still 10 years ahead but they want to catch up, he can say that cause he has no interests selling outside of the China at the moment, especially since the car isn't making any more yet.
@ I didn't tell you what you need. I was talking in general, which likely true about you too, but not necessarily. My point was that you are likely looking at the wrong features. Dazzled by the shiny new tech, and ignoring what actually matters in practice. The 800V is the best example, it makes no difference in a car, you should not care about it. What you should care about instead is the actual charging speed, and in miles per minute. That's what actually matters in practice. Maybe 800V is faster, maybe not, it's for the engineers to sort out, for you the only thing matters is the end result.
Can’t wait to see the Performance model. The Model 3 Performance has some nice upgrades compared to its long range brother, I can imagine the MYP getting a similar treatment.

My 2 cents to the political discussion: I made a product focussed review, clearly, but also mentioned the Elon Musk discussion in the end, obviously I am the only reviewer who dared to mention it because we don't just follow marketing and PR talk but also go in-depth on different topics. You cannot ignore it at this point. Of course it does create discussion, it's weird that I am put between "How dare you showing a Tesla product" and "how dare you raising a discussion about Elon Musk" - totally the opposites. So most obviously you cannot make it right for everyone, but you have to include this into a review because it is a very important thought / discussion for a lot people / car buyers. In any case, I made this point here as objective as possible and presented different approaches to take this. And if Elon really did a Nazi gesture or not is actually not the main point, the main point is that many people worldwide perceived it as one, that's already damaging enough. And he himself is asking for free speech, so we should be free to talk about it. Clearly, I cannot make it right for everyone's personal or political opinion, I try to make it as balanced as possible while staying true to myself. And true to myself means that I am not afraid of speaking up and raising questions and concerns. We don't have to agree on everything, but a vivid discussion with polite manners is always welcome. I'm sad that in today's world, it seems there is only polarizing and hate, while we can also be of different opinion and still treat each other with respect.

The fact that the populations of many countries have chosen in a democratic way for a different more conservative approach has led to mass hysteria on the left side crying things like undemocratic, authoritarian, right extremism and even Nazism (which was a national SOCIALIST phenomenon btw). Please understand that many people are obviously fed up with the almost sacred fashion our policy makers have tried to force their will upon us without actually listening to the people's real needs. ...Maybe Abraham Lincoln's statement still holds truth today:

I watched the footage many times and also longer in context, and me as a German, I was shocked. I think: Instead of criticizing me being shocked about such a gesture, people should be happy about people being shocked by such a gesture. It's a good thing what we are opposing Nazi symbols. And if something went wrong, you can also speak out in public and say "I am against Nazis and stand up against racism and discrimination" or smth.

As taxi driver I spent 350-450€ on fuel each month, I have option to add charger in garage. I am not that much for green stuff but my wallet said, it is much cheaper to buy and run electric car overall.
Not to mention the cost of maintenance, which is extremely lower on the electric car.
Thomas the total liter number for Tesla is using SAE measurement standard (all the way to roof) but for example German and Korean brands use VDA (all the way to parcel shelf). Feel like you need to mention this. :)

Another fine video Thomas and greetings from California. In 2015, I bought a Tesla because it was the 1st EV that was cool - really, really cool. Way back then, Elon and Tesla were leading the charge for a more sustainable future. Nowadays we see a totally different Elon and a different EV marketplace. With Elon in mind, we recently sold our Model Y and drive a lovely Genesis EV in its place. As nice as this new Model Y appears, as long as Elon is driving the company, we won't be buying new Teslas. about the price: attention! this Launch Edition inclues a series of historically available extras (color premium, hook, 20inch wheels ana acceleration-boost, about little short of 8000 euro on their own), plus eventual less critical esthetic upgrades (fake-alcantara, premium carpets and extra under-door lighting). If most of those extras would have been added to 2024 Long Range (standard list price, ignoring for a moment the current additional discounts to empty the stock), the final price would not be that much different. Therefore it is not fair to say the Juniper is more expansive, but only that at the moment it is only available in an expensive configuration. Within the next 6 months we can expect the other 'known configurations' to be out and then it will be possible to spec it more conveniently. There are also chances the acceleration boost will not be available for the 2025 LongRange, nor the hook for the 2025 Performance (both the case for M3Highland at the moment).

You're right that the company owner can't be ignored if you are thinking of buying this car. It potentially has all sorts of ramifications for things like future resale value, the attitude of other motorists and citizens towards you as an owner, perhaps even software updates in the future if he decides something weird. And when you pay your 50K, some of it goes to a political cause you may be violently opposed to. That's not something car buyers have had to consider for a long time.
If the car was by far the best in its class, you might think harder about these issues. If there was no alternative. But there are plenty of alternatives. This is a late update that partially addresses some major shortcomings to a car that feels its age, but doesn't make the Model Y the default choice by any means. That's a problem for Tesla. Even if it was best in class I think the Musk issue would be a dealbreaker for me. As things stand, I would not buy this car under any circumstances. And that's a real shame because Tesla is a great company and I'm desperate to see how they progress things like autonomous driving etc.

That car looks like a great improvement over current Model Y. I love my current TMY, having owned toyota, subaru, BMW, Infiniti, Nissan and Lexus, Tesla Model Y is by far my favorite - charging at home, minimal maintenance - just tires and refilling windshield wiper fluid thus far at 80,000 miles. Honestly I can care less about the CEO, a lot of great engineers and factory workers worked hard to put together this package. They count the most.

When a CEO plays such an outsize role in the culture and politics of basically the entire world, it is hard not to link a purchase of this brand with support for him or at least ignorance of what he’s doing. You can recognise that the cars are pretty good, the rockets are amazing, so are the satellites, and there are a lot of talented good people working for his companies. But he’s become a bully and an awful role model for any kind of leadership. He thinks he’s above the law and is even trying to interfere in elections including in your home country Thomas. Just like with a lot of these far right leaders, the hypocrisy is also astounding. He’s complaining about pronouns and wokeness but hasn’t said a single negative word about anything in China. Dear Lea and Thomas. I started watching your channel about a year ago when I was looking for an EV for lease as my company is making the switch to EV's. During that journey I stumbled on many channels here on RUclips. A lot of them are forgettable, brand influenced, personally influenced etc, only a few are really objective. Out of the objective ones I still watch Instant Auto Vlog - IAV (Dutch), It's Only Electric (Swedish) and of course Autogefühl. Not only are all three channels objective, but all presenters have a calm and informative way explaining the car and it's features as if you are sitting in the car yourself. Bonus points for Autogefühl in the way you describe the interior and exterior, really really excellent the way you do that! Congratulations on another excellent review!
That being said, I will also address the elephant in the room 🙂 I think you are 100% correct in your review by talking about the Musk issue. As far as I am concerned this makes very much part of the car and the brand. The Hitler salute is not the main issue with Musk. It is just the last drop for many in the events surrounding Musk the last few months on the international stage. Calling out politicians, applying censorship, supporting far right groups etc. Musk is not stupid, he knew damn well what he was doing. And it had its effect: again he managed to polarize and draw attention on himself. Sucking up to Trump is of course part of his plan to expand his business and wealth. More and more people in Europe are disgusted with Musk's behaviour, so it is only logical this would have an effect on sales, so you are 100% correct to include that in your review.
Personally I am curious if we will see a big effect in Europe in the sales or even see anti Musk/Tesla groups rise up (or maybe this has already started?). Either way, a model Y Juniper was originally on my shortlist but I am now very happy I did not wait for it, and hear that a lot around me.

As a black Tesla enthusiast here in America, I really appreciate you bringing up this discussion and framing the question as you do at the end. Very well put. Many people have ignored this for the sake of the one or two personal interests that are easier to focus on. There's a huge political engine that makes the path to profit smoother for people in business. I'd rather have that be for companies (without leaders) that don't espouse extreme ideologies that don't take into account the principles that serve all humanity and society.

Since i have a long torso and at 1.95 m i almost always hit the roof with my head even in the lowest seeting position. Has the seets been set lower in this new model Y. In the old one i found that the seats were set to high even in the lowest position. When i leaned forward i hit my head in the roof, and thats not safe if you have an accident.

I've been a long time Tesla advocate who owned a 2019 Model 3 for 5 years, and now a 2024 Model 3 Performance. I've also been a Tesla investor for many years. I bought the 2024 car at the end of Q3, to some extent to do my part to help Tesla's quarter. Make no mistake, it's a great car. But would I buy another Tesla at this time. No. While it may be unfair to judge Tesla by the actions of its part-time CEO, the Tesla Board has a responsibility to get rid of this guy. Musk deserves all the credit in the world for making the company what it is, but at this point he is only harming his creation. Until the Tesla Board finds a new CEO, one who doesn't actively alienate it's customers, one who manages the company full time, and one who doesn't engage in simply unacceptable behavior, I will not buy another Tesla product.
My hat's off to you for bringing this issue up, as it's gotten bad enough that in spite of my love for Tesla vehicles and what the company stands for, Musk's behavior is simply unacceptable. Thanks for what you do.

HUD would have been much more useful than the rear monitor. The monitor in back is too low and would make people sick watching it during driving. Great example is found in Zeeker 7x

The man is an extremely dishonest human being. One lie after another, week after week. Last year he tweeted about not being willing (later changed his mind) to allow Alex Jones back on twitter because of how he profited from his lies about the Sandy Hook school children. He went on to say he held his own child in his arms as he took his last breath. Shortly after, his ex-wife replied to his tweet, correcting him by stating she was the one who held their child, not him. Elon did not reply to her tweet accusing him of lying. He remain silent. Something he rarely ever does when called out.
The diver who rescued the trapped kids in the cave said what Elon wanted to do would not have worked. That alone started Elon on a mission to retaliate against the man. Elon makes a lot of comments about DEI and false racist claims about DEI hires being unqualified people. That is not what or how DEI works. He has called the mayor of LA a DEI hire. First of all, she was not hired, she was voted into office by the people of Los Angeles and she’s been in public office for decades. His comments are the same as any other racist person who assumes a person with black or brown skin can’t possibly be the best or even very good at any high-ranking position.

It would have been much easier for you to just review the car but I understand why you felt it right to set out the different views buyers / potential buyers of Tesla cars have about Musk. In democratic countries freedom of speech is important as is respecting different viewpoints- even ones you might disagree with.

In Dallas, TX almost no one heeds the speed limit. I am 76, drive a Prius and try to adhere to the signage, but even if I am going a little over, everyone blows by me. I mention this relative to your comment about either having a HUD or some instrumentation in front of the driver to more easily see your speed in the new Model Y. A similar situation may exist in Austin, TX, though they often have gridlock. I have 20+ years driving a Prius so am used to center displays. Also have EX30 on order with same display setup. I don't think it will be a problem.

It looks ok, but I'm waiting to put my money down on the Xiaomi YU7 because it will have 800-volts, vehicle to load, heads-up display, massaging seats, bigger battery with more range and faster charge times at a lower price than the entry level MY.
- 800V is irrelevant for cars. Only increases cost.
- V2L same. Unless you are camping often, you don't need it.
- HUD is a matter of preference. I don't see any value in it.
- Massaging seats is the same, I don't want it, and don't see value in it. If you absolutely have to have it, I understand.
- Does it have more range? Be mindful of test cycles, the Chinese one is very inaccurate. Can't compare to European or American ratings.
- Also, range is at best a nice to have, but shouldn't be a high priority. Having access to the Supercharger network is much better. With an excellent charging network like that you only need range about 2-3 hours of driving with 60% range to road trip without any inconvenience. The Model Y can do that, if you don't drive too fast.
- The price is also good where you live? Is it even available outside of China? The EU and US put big tariffs on Chinese cars.

@@sokacsavok The CEO of Xiaomi even says Tesla is still 10 years ahead but they want to catch up, he can say that cause he has no interests selling outside of the China at the moment, especially since the car isn't making any more yet.

I didn't tell you what you need. I was talking in general, which likely true about you too, but not necessarily.
My point was that you are likely looking at the wrong features. Dazzled by the shiny new tech, and ignoring what actually matters in practice.
The 800V is the best example, it makes no difference in a car, you should not care about it. What you should care about instead is the actual charging speed, and in miles per minute. That's what actually matters in practice. Maybe 800V is faster, maybe not, it's for the engineers to sort out, for you the only thing matters is the end result.
Head up, 7 places and massage in front seats I would have bought it today and even willing to pay extra 5k for these options.
Can’t wait to see the Performance model. The Model 3 Performance has some nice upgrades compared to its long range brother, I can imagine the MYP getting a similar treatment.
