Loved this one too man, great sunrise and looked like you had the place to yourself. Ever go over to Bolivar on the ferry? Some great fishing there and the pre dawn ferry ride is fun also. Can tell you some spots if you like but looks like you have things under control ha! You a Texan? I am, born in Galveston and born to fish :). Heading to Myrtle Beach SC this weekend to try my luck.
Born and raised in Houston. I don't normally go over the ferry since it takes so much time to go to and from spots. I basically stay around Galveston proper and West Bay.
Thanks for input! I'm still in the experimental stage with the harness. I actually have switched over to a head cam in my latest video. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Great video. I wear hearing aids and had a hard time hearing what you're saying in the video. Would you please briefly type out what you said in the beginning? Greatly appreciated. Tight lines!
I basically go through my set up for free lining croaker. I use a chatter weight connected to a 30lb mono leader. On the leader, I use a faceted red glass bead with a brass disc. At the end I have a 3/0 khale hook. I attach croaker through the tail and let them swim around, occasionally popping the bait up. once I feel the hit, I follow the weight of the fish down before sticking it. sometimes I even free spool to give the trout extra time to inhale the bait.
Thank you very much for taking the time to type it out. I have wondered about the chatter weights. I look forward to fish with croakers again, which I seldom use. Keep up with those great videos. Thanks!
Your video was OK saw you catch a bunch of fish. But you should’ve gone into a little more detail on your rig. What size weight? How long is your leader? Where do you hook your croaker? You see my point!
Jonathan Hua Oh wow, there's no where to buy them around here, Lake Charles area. And if there was they'd be expensive for sure. By the way how much are they?
“Don’t set the hook”
*sets hook hard as hell*
Croaker are very expensive but also very effective nice video I enjoyed it keep making videos thank you
The surf in Galveston isn't that calm very often, that's a topwater morning. I'd be chunking a Skitterwalk.
I did. I threw tops for a couple hours and every so often as I moved down the beach. Trust me, I would rather catch them on top than on croaker.
Great video man !!
great tip did not know about holding the rod up, then bring it down when you feel the bite. never had success with croakers. will try
Definitely give it a shot! If trout or reds are in the area, they will eat it! The rod tip up gives the fish plenty of time to run with the bait.

I also like to be out here to avoid people. :P
Camera location made it difficult to be part of the experience.

This was a Shimano Chronarch 50e with 20lb Sufix 832 braid.

so do you just add a weight with a croaker on a hook?
Nope. There is some weight with the small brass discs and beads, but you are essentially free lining the croaker.
Can u simply that Idk fishing lingo haha can u tell u what to buy and do

good job bro.
What's the best / fastest way to get croackers for bait?
Koot 1971 I usually just buy them on the way to Galveston. I can't catch them consistent enough to merit going out and catching beforehand.
