DW has taken making Drums to a new level. Mick Fleetwood is one of my favourite drummers of all time. The drums looked beautiful and sound great. Thanks for sharing the collaboration and process with us.
Mick is totally taking the piss out of this whole event. I love it. As I think he is sincere in appreciating the process of drum making, he couldn't care less about the technicalities and details of these drums. His entire career is based off his FEEL for playing drums and what is appropriate for the song. I am a carpenter, a drummer and a DW drum kit owner and even still, some of this seems ridiculous in relation to the pure emotion that Mick can evoke in his playing.
Ridiculously cool! Fascinating to hear how the orientation of the plies affects the tone of the shells. The kit looks amazing and sounds every bit as good as it looks.
Awesome you got to meet him! A very gracious, informative guy for sure! Thanks for choosing the Concept series and letting is know what you think! Enjoy! What finish type did you get??
Mike Fleetwood is such an under appreciated drummer. He is such a master of playing within the song to support the music. He doesn't put on a gymnastics exhibition he just plays great grooves with tons of feel.
I love this musician's approach from Mick...He has that exponent of hearing what his audience looks for in sound appreciation. And for DW to accommodate that is phenomenal. I just got an old Chinese model set for free and there is no comparison to DW's made and look. So, I can appreciate a great sound from the drum characteristic's in the type of wood and granulation application that is renown ..."OUTSTANDING"...Now I know which drums to want for Christmas...
Man!! What an awesome video!! I've been such a huge fan of DW and videos like these make me more and more of a fan. Just seeing all the detail and thought that Mr. Good puts into making every single kit is incredible. I just recently received my Collectors kit and I cannot tell you enough how awesome this kit is. I long for the day that I will be able to order an exotic kit. It would be awesome to sit down and discuss the construction of it with Mr. Good himself. One can only dream...
DW you guys are a class act! The fact you take the time to very kindly monitor and reply to people's comments, is something that I appreciate and regard highly! That's also a smart business move, as I feel more compelled to deal with a company that shows consideration as such.
I remember reading a coment a fan posted in one of your videos saying it would be great to record a whole drum kit being made for a famous drummer, and now you gave us this video. I want to congratulate you for being such a great company, for caring so much for your clients, and pouring so much love in every single thing you guys do, you're without a dubt one of the best companys in the world. May god keep bleesing you, and keep up the great work you already do.
We love your profile name our friend! That is a unique snare you got from Dale's. Those guys rule over there! We are very happy to hear you are enjoying the sound and looks of your 8x14 Cherry snare. thanks so much for choosing DW!!
We'd love to have you out! We have a factory tour almost every Thursday at 2 pm! The kits look the way they do because of some great, hard working people here!
Very nice to see and hear what comes from tested and re-tested physical results. That is, as opposed to just phoning it in and tweaking it in post-production with pro-tools on a computer. Keep it honest with the right materials combined with hard-tested honest talent. Mick Fleetwood seems to know and honour that art + science. Good on ya mate. P.S. So sorry and RIP Christine McVie.
Our pleasure! We do all we can to get to every single comment! Sounds like you know your stuff with finishing! Thanks so much for your story and congrats on the marriage!
John Good is a genius! I had the pleasure of meeting him personally at Sweetwater Gearfest 2013 in Fort Wayne, IN. What a super nice guy. Lovin' my Concept Series 7 pc. and the price! Keep it up folks!!!
every time I think about my ultimate new drums I dream myself sitting in John good's office and laying it down in scrutinizing preference, the sizes, the details, tonality and finish... but then short after I wake up...
John Good is such a nerd in the best possible way!! He's done so much for drums and it shows in the massive success of DW. I've been playing DWs since 1991 and they were the best then and they are still the best now!! Thank you Don and John for the unparalleled drums and hardware!!
Great conversation guys! We appreciate the feedback and kind words Gunnar! Manufacturing in America has proved to be a challenge in the expense category for us and we are sure for many manufacturers. We are trying everyday to keep costs down while insuring our customers the best possible product.
We hear you our friend and we are never trying to claim that we are the best and so much better then anyone else in these price ranges. All drum companies have great sounding drums for sure but we are of the opinion there are differences in shell making that can change the sound. Have a great weekend!
no worries! that doesn't get us down. we're stoked to be able to offer different sounds for different tastes. It would be super boring if everyone liked the same thing. Great to hear how much you love the M/Ms though. Can't go wrong!
Let me first say, I'm not a drummer. I do admire them!!! And to watch the creation of this instrument by this company was nothing short of AMAZING!!!! As a never-ending novice woodworker, my jaw dropped!!!!
im just enjoying the emotion John and Mic are sharing OMG how inspiring to see these two cut gring and chop their way through the steps to produce such an amazing experiment of this concept into such an acheivement. Wizards in production willing to share their knowledge. Thank you both so much
You are amazing Mirkko! Sounds like an original idea but the Edge rings are darn heavy and would prove tough to mount. Although we are confident we have mounts or snare stands that could handle the weight. The sound has proven not up to par through R&D also. Thanks for asking!
JG inspires for sure!!! Nothing to report of at the moment about JG's business practice but we can say he is completely involved with all things production and R&D that are DW's. The guy is non stop and works with his team on a daily basis to insure the best quality drums and hardware while staying very active with his new ideas!
I am definitely going to go Tour the Shop! Seeing it on Video is one thing, but seeing it in person with your own eyes, smelling the Wood, hearing the Tapping with your own ears and feeling the History is quite another! Wish I could afford Pizza for you and your whole Crew John! See You Soon!
Another amazing accomplishment by JG and DW Drums. I love these videos. The craftsmanship, beauty, and connoisseur qualities so meticulously integrated into such gorgeous and precise musical instruments overwhelms me each time I view these clips. The full, deep, and warm pitch they harvest from this cherry engulfs the very soul. I so wish I could afford such a kit. Yes - I have imagined "being the one" lucky enough to sit down with Mr. Good for that life-changing journey. But then I wake up ... and tell myself how my Performance kit is STILL very nice.
The best sounding drums ,attention to detail and obsession !We all win ,I've had 25 different kits and just got a collector's series ,they are the best drums I've had ,cheers
We promise we are soon to work on your kit if we have not started already! John will tap your shells for sure. We can guarantee both these things! Thanks so much for choosing DW and feel free to get back to us and let us know how you kit is going for you when it arrives. Thanks again!
How can you knock Mick? Technical muscle is not the only measure of a great drummer. Think of songs like "Gold Dust Woman," "Tusk," "The Chain" and you can hear how Mick colors the music. He has a style. He's an original.
While watching your other videos I saw you used a banana ply which blew my mind.On my honeymoon in St.Lucia we stopped with some locals and saw the banana trees and learned about there rapid growth and there single crop...then they are cut down and there sucker plants begin new growth. It was amazing and quickly became one of my favorite trees. You guys blow my mind. Maybe one day I could be finishing your drums instead of staircases!!!
Well, keep in mind the work they put into those drums. They go through and match the drum shells by note, hand paint the shells, and tune them before they send them out. That's not even the half of it. These aren't made in some foreign country overseas. They're made right here in America. That's something to be immensely proud of. The custom series aren't for everyone. That's okay. That's why DW is putting out other series like the performance and design series.
I fangirl sqealed a few times when John started tapping those raw shells. BTW, I got my 9500TB two-leg Hi-Hat stand in yesterday, and I LOVE IT! Lots of neat little details like the design in the middle that also acts as a memory lock, the spurs, the two different top rods, the adjustable tension, the comfortable heel plate, even the drum key that it comes with is burly and amazing. You guys did the thing 1000-fold, and I will be buying more products from you guys in the near future =)
Well John Good came with the SSC so technically he had a hand in designing your kit! Technically every kit goes through JG one way or another so you are in the DW family for sure! We have a factory tour almost every Thursday at 2 pm so you just might see your kit being worked on while you are here for the tour. Thanks for choosing DW!!
It is very clear that dw drums conceived to introduce each drum with a unique idea and philosophy. lovingly he devotes his time to all drummers on the planet. I feel very afortunido use the best kit in the world ... there is just one Dw =)
I have played various drum kits over my 42 years on the skins. Settling for a T**A in 2004. You might get me to switch or jump ship.......maybe. Beautiful kit and beautiful sound. BTW I’m from Michigan. 👍😁
Tamas rule. But I just managed to get a used 6 piece performance series DW for less than half the price of new and they are the best sounding drums I've ever owned. There were a couple of tiny scratches on the bass drum and floor tom, but other than that they were barely played. Love me some Tama's tho.
I love seeing cats like John Good have that kind of enthusiasm because then I don't feel so crazy. . .I get him 100%: I live for all things music, drums, guitar, recording, etc ...
I really wish in my heart of hearts that I wouldn't have to shell out 12 grand for a kit...I'd give these a go anytime... Kudos to DW for your love and investment in the art and craftsmanship of drum making!
Wow that must be so cool to have your custom drums made exactly for you to match your style I recently played a DW kit for the first time im now saving my money dreams can come true
Absolutely beautiful kit!!! The cherry wood drums sound amazing, warm and dark rich tones. The Gold hardware is striking and makes the kits shine. DW technology and passion for amazing sound definitely comes through. Mick is a brilliant drummer, this year with Dreams being rediscovered showed exactly his excellent time, metronome perfection on that song. Even the Roland logo is gold on Mick’s pd-7 rubber pads, nice touch.
It was very cool to receive a reply to my comment. I love the passion this company has for making drums and the timbre matching and putting the note in the shell to tune to if you choose to its genius. I tune to notes. I've went from a pearl export to mapex saturn to now a sonorsclassix kit but one day soon I know I'll have a custom kit from DW! I wish I could create drums for a living you are all very admired by me!!
No smack talk only positives from our team for you! We do not have a program like the one you have mentioned exactly. We are doing our best to load up video content of different shell types and our Kitbuilder, too. Thanks for your question!
Sure! So far we have had customers playing these types of music and then some with Cherry shells. It's all up to you! If you like the sound and Rock or Metal is your style the Cherry should go well for you!
nothing wrong with that! Tried and true, and arguably the most versatile shell type. We have many artists and customers who still order the standard 7-ply maple collector's kits. We just can't stop exploring different musical colors ;)
Happy to hear your Broken Glass kit is going well for you thanks! Hope the sun has come out for you. You can actually special order a sheet of Broken Glass from us through your local authorized DW drums dealer. You would have to sort out the repair yourself though. Thanks again!

Companies like Tama and Pearl make drums for Drummers. DW makes drums for musicians. So much detail put into these beautiful kits and this video truely demonstrates that. Thanks for this upload.

It really incredible too see someone absolutely in love with what they do. Jon Good is absolutely all in, and it's amazing.
His passion is in surmountable! We would love to make you a kit when you're ready!
@ Sherwood makes a great point with the ride being on the right. There are more then a few drummers who have their rack toms set up this way.
No smack talk only positives from our team for you! We do not have a program like the one you have mentioned exactly. We are doing our best to load up video content of different shell types and our Kitbuilder, too. Thanks for your question!
Those are some DEEP sounding drums! Well done DW!

nothing wrong with that! Tried and true, and arguably the most versatile shell type. We have many artists and customers who still order the standard 7-ply maple collector's kits. We just can't stop exploring different musical colors ;)
Sounds like a good finish idea!
Sorry about your drooling! :) John is a great ambassador for drumming for sure!
Happy to hear your Broken Glass kit is going well for you thanks! Hope the sun has come out for you. You can actually special order a sheet of Broken Glass from us through your local authorized DW drums dealer. You would have to sort out the repair yourself though. Thanks again!
Great drums, great story and fabulous video
This video helped me to decide upon purchasing an amazing 8x14 cherry HVLT 13 ply at Dale's Drums. John Good hand-signed the drum so perhaps it was a prototype. Anyway, the drum has the fattest backbeat I've ever heard. Such body and it doesn't hurt that it's drop dead gorgeous.
awesome videos you should do this with every other kit you make, at least the first part so i can drool all over my laptop again
great video, amazing drums, without a doubt Mr. John is an amazing teacher, taking all drummers to school every time!!
thank you!!!
