Dont be Afraid we all make noise, and especialy a beginner but if you really dont want to annoy your Family with the noise then i recommend to buy a mute ( it Reduce the sound of the violin and there is three types of mute : 1. Normal mute 2. metal mute, one of the mutes which reduces the sound a lot 3. Orchestra mute, it just change or mutes the a and d string but talk with your violin teacher first about it so you guys can Diskuss which mute fits you best) i dont own a mute but i do plan to buy a metal mute because i dont wanna annoy my Neighbors with my horrible sound. But if you cant buy a mute then you just gotta go though its all part of the Process to become better and eventually you will sound better! Hope this helped :D and sorry for awnsering late

Interesting. Reminds me of Glenn Gould. His mother told him while he was a child to always to sing/hum along as he played - a habit, incidentally, recording engineers found difficult to erase from his recordings. In any case, this singing along was crucial to him. Hard to pay attention to this lovely lady without falling in love with her.
Great explanation, as I singer myself, you should definitely approach playing the violin as if you are singing ....Isaac Stern uses the same approach also.
