To add to this, I think Olive killed so many people was to get the attention of the Grim Reaper. You can only have interactions with the Reaper when a death occurs, so the more people who die, the more chances Olive has to meet up with her true love, the Grim Reaper. The first death that happened around Olive could have been the one that caused her to be infatuated with death and in turn the Grim Reaper.

Notice how a lot of the random deaths of non-family members are service Sims, there's a pizza delivery girl, a pest control worker, a maid, it's like she was luring people to the house with the soul intention of murdering them. I like the theory she was killing people so that she could see the Grim Reaper, and they fell more and more in love with every person Olive kills!

What's with old ladies in the sims and being scary
Theory: Olive falls in love with the Grim Reaper because he’s always there for her during traumatic deaths. So when she gets left at the altar, she kills her ex in hopes of seeing Grim. She then continues trying to meet a human man, but goes back to Grim every time because he’s never let her down; he’s always guaranteed to show up.
I believe it, but then she became more twisted and started to kill and I guess she wanted to love Grim
I love how in-depth you go into these. The lore in the earlier games is top tier! And the name puns of Olive's exes threw me off even as a kid 🤣 Also your hair is looking gorgeous 😍

maybe I say this as someone still hyperfixated on the Sims 2 DS but playing the Sims 2 PC with Tank Grunt and Johnny Smith was so fun as someone who played the DS version first, and the antagonists for the DS game were so fun and interesting and honestly I'd *love* to have them back with more lore n improvements

I love how majority of families in the Sims were black. It’s so damn whitewashed now. Even characters that were obviously black were turned white.
The way they brought back iconic characters and whitewashed them really bothered me. Bella Goth was clearly not white, she had tan skin and black hair with brown eyes, yet they made her (and Cassandra) totally white in TS4. They really did the Caliente sisters dirty not just in terms of whitewashing but also in terms of making them look horrible in general and also completely changing their story by giving them a new mom, wtf?? But originally they seemed to have Spanish and Arabic descent and were clearly of a deeper complexion, whereas in TS4 they are - surprise surprise! - just basic white girls. Hell, even when they brought back Dirk Dreamer as a character they gave him much lighter skin and brown hair instead of black. Can they not just keep the original character designs? They have these beloved well-established characters and they're just like "lol let's BLEACH THEM!"

Wouldn't say blacks were the majority, just that it had a good balance of various colours. The ideal thing would be to say that there *were* no majorities or minorities.
It's interesting how it's after Nervous Subject gets taken away that Olive has a temporary break from murdering and actually had a husband that she didn't want to die! It's possible imo that she decided to stop trying to be with the grim reaper after her kid got taken then snapped again after her husband died
"Mystery Sim" is a sim used in Sims 2 for premade adult and elder sims to have in their memories that they've had their first kiss. In other words, every pre-made adult and elder sim that is single will have it in their memories that once they became teenagers they met "Mystery Sim", fell in love with them, and kissed them. It is the game's way of saying they've had some romantic experience but it's not specifying any details about "Mystery Sim" in case it doesn't fit the narrative you want to give to the pre-made sim
I found it weird that (almost?) every time Ophelia got a promotion, it was after someone's death: almost as if she *had* to kill to get promoted and she didn't really mind
I always interpreted it as she got a high from killing someone and that allowed her to excel in her job, earning her a promotion. So it became a pattern where she linked killing someone with promotions

The Spector household was the first I ever I accidentally killed everyone in the house and got the sims 2 game over message... Almost traumatized me
Same! After Olive died, all the ghosts suddenly showed up each night, and the teenager died from fright (aka, mood drop after seeing too many ghosts right after one another)
I think I did that as the first household I played. Then I just moved a new family in to live with the ghosts. 😅

Sins 2 is so tramatizing, I was playing it yesterday and omg everyone almost died, and then I played sims 3 to cool down and five minutes into the gameplay after hours in CAS my sim slammed against a vending machine and died... I just quit and went to bed
I always reunited Olive and Nervous Subject in my play throughs and then gave Nervous the best life ever, because he deserved it after everything he'd been through.
that's crazy that you made that link between pascal and nervous because in all my playthroughs it just makes sense that they fall in love and get married. pascal remained one of nervous' closest friends throughout everything and they make a great couple. I moved nervous into the curious household and he's now raising alien babies, married to pascal, happy as ever. I don't even play it anymore, I left it immortalised as the happiest time of his life

I think the only reason why they’re just friends by default is that having a premade gay couple would be extremely controversial in 2004.
It's cute because when you first load the Curious household, Pascal has a want to talk to Nervous and around the time he gives birth (around 6am I think?) Nervous is scripted to visit their house. And if you followed the prompt for Vidcund, this is usually when the aliens bring him back as well 😂

I appreciate that even in the Sims 1 they had same-sex relationships, started off the Sims 2 base game with these two, and included at least joined unions with the wedding arch (which TwoJeffs quickly made into marriage).
Still, it's pretty tragic that you couldn't even be open in a freakin' life-simulating _game._ without someone clutching their pearls. At least they finished out the Rainbow Coalition with Sims 4.

I love how everything put in the sims 2 was there for a reason. With sims 4, it feels like things are just thrown around anywhere hastily.
Feck me I knew Olive was messed up but a torture house?! And I have to say, Nervous always ended up with Pascal in my playthroughs, no matter what happened to anyone else I always made sure those loves ran off into the sunset together 😭

How about LPs inspired from ye old Sims lore? Like recreating this whole story but in the Sims 4 or doing the full timeline of the other classic characters...
I would watch the whole thing, delighted to see all the conspiracies and plot twists come to life.
I have recreated some Sims 2 lore in my savegame - mostly by cheating deaths, relationships, etc - and while it was a huge joy to see my worlds full of Sims with actually meaningful stories and relationships living in houses that tell a story of their own,... The actual gameplay was... Meh. In Sims 4, your Sims just behave so weirdly against their stats? Like they do get a negative moodlet from hanging out with a sim they hate and/or had a fight with recently but they will still do friendly interactions with them? Like, even if you set everything up to play out the way it would have in Sims 2, it simply won't. You'll have to intervene constantly and bring a huge suspension of disbelief with you because the game will make it really hard for you to believe your own stories you're trying to play.
Then again, this could at least make for an entertaining LP, if not for an immersive one 😂 I'd watch it

So, when you adopt a kid in the Sims, you have the option to change their name. DID THE BEAKER FAMILY CHANGE HIS NAME TO “NERVOUS SUBJECT”?! You know, because they were using him as a test subject?! Omg!! I’m thinking Olive might’ve named him something normal. When you change a sim’s name, it changes everything to the new name, even in memories that pre-exist the name change it will show it as their new name. Could that be why Olive doesn’t know that her son literally lives down the road from her? Because she doesn’t know that they changed his name and therefore doesn’t know that Nervous is actually her son? With how murderous she is toward people who have wronged her, you’d think that the Beaker family would pop up in her graveyard too!

Because of this video, I went on a marathon of the series, and noticed something when I got to Princess Cordelia. Her last name is Thebe. There are Thebes in the family tree of the Capp family from Sims 2, which means they are most likely descendents of Princess Cordelia

It is just pronunciation I understand that but getting to teach someone who doesn't speak the language any name with Le is kind of hard because there isn't an English version or way to pronounce it.

The Spectre family was one of the first I played as a kid, and I didn't really inspect the gravestones or did any detective work, but just playing the household was very scary and creepy, and Olive was my first Sim death, and she seemed to die horribly, which kind of traumatised me. However, after learning the whole story, I'm not too upset.

About Pascal and Nervous Subject: I was playing with the Curious household the other day and for some reason Nervous showed up. I clicked on him w/ Pascal and it said kiss. They in love babes. It won't show up in the relationship thingy till you have them have romantic interactions but yeah they absolutely love each other and I love that ❤
I love all of the lore that video games have. I did not expect the Sims to have such dark lore. I love that pieces of furniture allude to other unknown stories.

Plot twist, in the sims 2 for psp you encounter a sim named Ophelia Specter who inherited a Meetinghouse that has a graveyard from her mom. I believe its the same person but she is an adult in the psp version.
But her name in the pc version is Ophelia Nickmos, not Ophelia Specter.

There was always something unsettling playing with Olive. I played the Sims 2 occasionally as a kid cause my cousin owned it. The lore went over my head unfortunately, I never picked up on it at the time. However, I do remember playing with Olive at one point and she ended up dying by accident as you do in the Sims. I got the eerie pop up that there are no more active Sims alive on this lot. For some reason this crashed the game and I couldn't leave the lot. I was stuck on speed 3 watching as ghosts came out day in and day out wrecking the whole place. No Sims music playing, barely any noises except when the ghosts appeared. It was weird at the time but looking back on it now knowing the lore that memory is pretty creepy. Olive couldn't find more victims so she killed the game and made me sit and watch her afterlife
