Thank you so much for making this video about my son.
My son wanted to have the same eye color as mine, and a Korean court banned him from broadcast,
saying it was 'disgusting' because he wore a typical Brazilian colored lenses.
When I went to Korea to mediate this, the president of Victor's agency said,
'It's disgusting' when he saw the color of my eyes.
    Yes in front of me!
Victor is going through a very tough time with all of his direct speech actions being restricted.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Thank you.

You really have insight into this that we don't. Can an agency really bind you if that have fired you? It would seem they have breached the contract. I am seriously curious how stupid a company has to be to think abusing their power towards an artist will better their reputation. Small companies are on thin ice as it is, every move has to be a good one or they will drown in the industry, so it just nuts that, knowing people know this, they would toss money into keeping this issue alive (legal fees, likely housing him per a standard company contract if they aren't more shady, never making that training money back, etc).

    • @stan_theboyz561
      @stan_theboyz561 2 года назад +103

personally i think that is their twisted thoughts. gaining media attention from this is boosting their company, so they probably haven't given a second thought on what the consequences would be just to keep this alive. the more media attention equals more views which then turns into negative popularity. i personally think they just want to stay reverent just like Oli London if you think about it and how he is staying reverent through negative media attention. which is sooo stupid and wrong, it really frustrates me...

This way of thinking is what will bring them down. It's this archaic nonsense that the bigwigs know what they are doing and everyone under them, according to hierarchy has to bow down to the ones above them, no questions asked. This is still a very big problem in Korea. The reason Big Hit has the biggest group in the world is that PD Bang would never act like this. I can't speak for what goes behind closed doors but you don't get the most successful Kpop group in the world by treating their members like this. They are heard, and their mental health is prioritized (or at least that's their brand - sorry to sound cynical but you just don't know what goes on behind closed doors as they are very careful about what they want you to see and what they don't). They are given creative freedom (to an extent but more so than other companies). You have this incredibly charismatic, talented, confident performer. Personally, I am not into Kpop but I am intrigued by this guy because of how comfortable he is performing and gives so much effortlessly. To silence him in his prime makes absolutely no sense. I don't know how the legal system works in Korea so I don't really understand how they can enforce this kind of contract. Surely there is always an out clause? Is it that he has to pay a lot of money to buy his freedom? If that is the case, is a fund set up and are people contributing? What is the solution here?

In a way, this is rather similar to what happened to 2NE1. The company head abruptly disbanded the group without prior notice and reason, and that was after unfairly terminating another member's contract. Two members were left in the company by that point. One refused to make music without her group and took on an administrative role instead, and the other was trying to create solo music but was always denied the chance to comeback. I'm glad all of the members are out, YG is a terrible company and the members seem so much happier away from YG. I feel terrible for Victor, I have a feeling I would have really liked his enthusiasm. The way the law currently works, this is legal for them to do. It's super shitty and the law should change, but technically right now Victor's label is not breaking the law in anyway... Which is a big reason why this story needs exposure, this is something that should change. The label has the right to kick him out of the group. But what SHOULD have happened after is either A) they have the option to put him in another group or have him be a solo artist still under them. Or B) they immediately terminate the contract so that he would be free to go independent or sign with another company. The fact that they can have him still be on contract but not put him in any groups or not use him at all effectively puts him in "jail", and they KNOW that's what they're doing. At the VERY LEAST, there should be a law that if a company has you on contract but chooses not to use you, the contract should automatically terminate after 1 year. That way it's fair to the label in that they can figure out what to do with an artist (if it was a true issue of just the label wanting time to decide), but if they decide to do nothing or just take too long, then artist has an out and can go live their life and still have a career after and not lose too too much time. But the way right now they can basically hold Victor hostage for the next SIX YEARS is absolutely insane.

Many DJ’s are popular while staying anonymous, and he can create his persona as a company instead of as his legal name. He is still allowed to create independent labels and trade mark a persona under a company LLC, and this may allow him to work under that without it infringing on the contract he’s bound to claiming visual/performance rights of his current artist persona.

If I've learned one thing about Korean culture it's that they really hate losing face or being embarrassed publicly. Victor essentially did that twice, once when he broke his stick and the second time with the video telling how he was kicked out. It's not logical but it's more revenge and making him an example for the other idols at his company. No one there would dare defy them if they are sidelined the majority of their contract. It's sad. I hope he can get out and Corona has to pay him a ton of money in damages.

Being a small company, I'm sure they are trying to hold onto everything they can. My point is that it's just not logical. Revenge isn't logic. I'd also like to know if his contract is even legal. Generally in contract law, there has to be benefits for both sides. If they are preventing him from upholding his part of the contract they would be in breach. They essentially fired him, I just don't understand how they have any authority or right to bind him. Any reasonable person would believe that if you were kicked out of your place of employment, you are no longer bound to them. We have to understand that most countries in the world were/are homogenous, and had limited interactions with foreign nations/people for most of their history. So, naturally, these places aren't fond of individualism to an extent we might see in places like the U.S. (a country built on immigrants).
It's not okay to generalize a whole ethnic group, so it's better to specify. Comments like, "Korean... such a jealousy people." from Mp 111 and such are... well, prejudice.

The good thing is, companies like this are kinda digging their own grave. Many people are aware what went down and nobody will ever give their trusts to them again. Not fans, not idol candidates. Victor can experience real life for six years, which in the long run, for a real artist is very essential, and even turn these events into something that he can publish a few years from now. I feel sorry for him, but for real artists it's just better to not get involved with the corrupt south korean entertainment industry. Soon these youths will learn from their predecessors's examples and never sign a shady-ass contract.

If the terms of the contract are that he performs, then he can file a motion to dismiss the ban on this alone. Also, if the contract IS for him to perform, the the contract-holder has already broken the contract by banning him performing. It can't have anything to do with breaking drumsticks. How many guitarists have broken their guitars that we know of? And they've never been punished. It's seen as artistic license.

It kida is because they have horrible working conditions, get bullied by the company's for everything, the girls often end up with eating disorders or awful self doubt, they have unattainable standerds and they don't get payed wedges at all. Also no boyfriends/girlfriends. No relationships at all even a girls dad wasn't allowed to see her on her birthday. And you arnt garantted a carrior after years worth of training so all that hardship is worth nothing to a lot of trainees. And they pray on how a lot of people will not read the contracts properly due to genuinely wanting to be a popstar. And you see all these children wanting to go though that not knowing how bad it is these companies pray on peoples dreams

I know that's why I name it what it is: modern slavery. But that said, in my country there is a scandal going on about the Voice. Sexual harassment and abuse. The programme has been stopped yesterday for the adult talents as well as the child talents. The police is now investigating all cases.

and the truth is that THIS IS BETTER THAN IT USED TO BE. they literally used to sign the famous Slave Contracts and they were a lot worse than this. but this is barely any improvement..... F Korea for this

Because it had been backed up by gangsterism since the early age. So, it’s literally a concept of prostitution just minus the sex if you’re lucky enough. But, the people at the top usually either gangsters or related to some gangsters. Even the politicians usually have some gangsterism entanglement out of the radar.

Corona X actions are downright petty and soul sucking. Wishing Victor all the best and hopefully learn from this not to sign a contract that gives a company the rights to suppress your livelihood.

It’s insane how a company can have this kind of power over a human being…
    Estamos com você Victor!! 🇧🇷

It's shocking to me. Is he a murderer who should be kept away? He's breached a contract, OK, fire him and sue him for compensation. How is it possible and how is it at all legal to prevent a person from engaging in his profession? And how does everyone and especially the media cooperate with it instead of going against such a blatantly draconian and inhuman law?
I guess you played the song "ON" in the background not by chance. I wish Victor "Win no matter what" .

The Only silver lining is unlike dancers, a drummers/rockers career can be for their whole life. It sucks to loose the six years but he's still got a LONG career ahead of him in the future. Especially with his looks!
I hope he can get free sooner though!

It’s sickening that people have the power to completely restrict someone’s life like this. My heart goes out to Victor because having these restrictions on how creative freedom can’t be easy to deal with

Wow! And he's in his prime. This should be a crime for companies to ruin people's lives. From what I heard, nothing warrented him being kicked out of the group. But even still, what does the company gain to do what they've done? I hope other artists steer clear of that company. Also, people need to take care of these artists too so that they don't sign their lives away to these predators. I hope he's free soon because this is prison without walls. Shame on all of those involved in this slavery.

Victor is free spirited, I love that in an artist so much....but companies want to keep artists chained obviously.
Hopefully Victor sees us rooting for him! He has such unique star qualities.
