Welp. Capcom released Megaman 11 and it made Keiji Inafune cry like a former Megaman producer on prom night.
but the real question is whether or not my little pony is anime
@@Flowtail If Cory In The House can be considered anime, even if it's just for memes, then so can MLP.
Princess Luna the thing is the music is pretty lacking in Megaman 11 which sucks
@@polverine7491 Sound effects are awful in that game too.

@@firehedgehog1446 After Mighty No.9 failed completely, we got an announcement for Mega Man 11 not long after. Maybe a couple months later?
Capcom is super petty and the whole reason megaman was fading away was because of inafune and the companies straining relationship. I know its not proven but the timings of everything is too perfect for a 'happy' coincidence.
@@kingoflions827 Inafune seems to be the more petty one also Megaman 11 is great unlike MN9
Hey, I noticed Ian Flynn in the backers credits!

How much was Freedom Planet?
It's-a me Megatron. About $20 on Steam, most likely.
Want to hear something sad? Keiji Inafune is at Anime Expo right now in Los Angeles. Yup they are going kill him.
Oh and Yu Suzuki, who is making Shenmue 3, is crushed right now. He knows that everyone thinks that Kickstarter games are shit now. He is sleeping at the office and trying to make sure all backers feel loved right now. I hope he gets over this soon.

Yeeeeeaaaah, that's the way I like it.
Now, how do we scare the shit out of Triple A publishers?
Michael Haneke Yeah! Come to think about it, we need to end the plague known as EA, if you have any ideas I am all ears.
that looked so much like a minecraft skin that many thought the pre order bonus WAS a minecraft skin
BTW, it's been a year and a half since this video was posted and the 3DS and Vita versions STILL haven't been released.
Some Random Guy wow
wonder if people who backed for those versions got their money back or at least a diffrent version
Sorry to all who wanted those versions, but the game sucks anyways
Kyle Campbell, they'll maybe get scamed by them. It seems like the most probable thing that'll happen
I am pretty sure that at this point, they don't really care, although it is still pretty bad that they got ripped off.
Capcom's probably laughing thier ass off right now.
"This is why we fired him! There was a reason we hadn't made any Mega Man games in a while!"
What's sad, this is just giving Capcom more reasons to not make another Megaman game.
Well, not Capcom, they still don't want anything to do with Mega Man. Hideki Kamiya, HE'S laughing his ass off since he called it.
+UltimaKeyMaster Kamiya gets major catharsis as well, since Inafune is the one who got Clover Studios shut down. He more than anyone is entitled to drink up that schmuck's tears.
***** Or they could fear it because honestly they don't have the creator this time and last time they tried to make a 2D Megaman game without him we got Megaman X6(aka the worst Megaman game ever made and should not have been made, seriously that is bad and disappointing game). So when this game comes out and is just a total bombshell that it is and getting so much backlash from fans of Megaman, what does that tell Capcom, well obliviously they don't want Megaman and would be bad for business.
wait...a family of robots...?
Is this actually a spiritual successor to my life as a teenage robot...?
Beck just happened to be number 9 too :D
Cyborg 009 did it first.
...holy shit. i never thought of it like that before. nonetheless, i'm crossing my fingers that they'll make a sequel that'll greatly improve on this game's problems. this has great potential and i would hate to see it wasted
Wait... Jenny was the ninth, right? And so is Beck....Holy Crap....
Mighty No. XJ9
There's just something about the way you're always more DISAPPOINTED with a game than raging for comedic value that just makes it feel like it has more weight.
A little comedic anger from time to time is always nice, of course, and you do that pretty darn good too.
More like Mighty no. 0.9/10 amiright, guys?
999999.0/9
Omg
0.9/10 is to high of a score for the game tbh
Mediocre No. 6.5
Easy there, buddy. We're all friends here.
MN9 just goes to show that no one man is the entire driving force behind a good video game. It takes an entire team to make something great, and just because your name is attached to something good in the past, doesn't mean everything you touch is gold.
And that there is a reason we have editors/producers/executives.....someone has to have foresight
Dynamite Grizzly Hideo Kojima is *at least* 90% the entire driving force behind his game's greatness. If anything, a developer asking people for money to make a cheap knockoff of that one game they're known for should tip people off that maybe that developer is a one trick pony.
Mighty No. 9 was developed by Inti Creates which has made other good games like Gunvolt and the Mega Man ZX games. Comcept also had a lot of other industry veterans onboard. You can checkout the Kickstarter for more details.
@@timekeeper2538 heh heh one trick brony

Quite honestly, I'm glad that you did not give an enraged review of this; I feel this game is over saturated with them online. While disappointed, your tone sounded detached from bias as you looked at the game objectively. Also you were the first person I've seen to even speak about online or the Ray DLC. I'd call this a complete review.
Johnny can usually do that.
tbh i don't see Johnny as a "holy shit i'm mad at everything" reviewer, and i didn't even subscribe to him for that kind of stuff.
if i want to see reviewers lose their shit at everything, i'd go watch AVGN.
That's Johnny's thing, and I love it.
Johnny used to be a pretty "emotional" guy, mainly as he was first inspired to make videos by the Angry Video Game Nerd (and the Nostalgia Critic). But since about 3-4 years ago, he mellowed down and developed a style that was more suited to himself.
+Caleb Jaaniste (K-leb) I still enjoy those reviews, honestly. Nothing like a good ol' "WHY IS THIS HAMMER BROTHER HERE?"

The Virgin MN9 vs. the Chad Bloodstained. It's good to know that at least Iga still knows what he's doing.
Most of the "anonymous backers" are actually backers that's names weren't added despite giving their name.I'm surprised you didn't notice that common complaint when the disaster that the initial launch was happened. The initial release apparently somehow had a virus in it too, though that could have just been a common false positive. When this game finally decides to work I'm gonna be dashing around like the god damn moon man and loving every minute of it. shoddy budget cuts be damned.
Not enough people have played Dust: an Elysian Tale. Great shout out.
I literally bought the game because of that small joke, and yeah it’s great
I think the difficulty is more artificial then Mega Man games. You had to learn and fail in Mega Man to get past a tough configuration of baddies or some tricky platforms plus said enemies. Now it is just instant kill moves and objects that have jank hit boxes.
Isn't that the same thing?
+shadowkeepertienga23 I don't think so he talked about them in the video but called it conventional mega man stuff
+shadowkeepertienga23 A lot of Mega Man's level conventions early on was a "preview" of sorts. Egoraptor slightly touches on this during his sequelitis video where, for example, there's hovering spike enemies that fall on you when you're below them, but when you first see them you're on safe ground so you can just walk past them. However, the next part introduces falling ground. And THEN, you're introduced to both falling ground and the spiky dudes at the same time.
In MN9, they forgot about that and just put as many obstacles as possible. Example being a giant drill that chases you, and you need to shoot out these barrels before jumping on a ledge to progress. However, by the time you jump on the ledge the first time, it's too late and you die.
Diehard Mega Man fan here. Mighty No. 9 is if middling difficulty for MM game. I actually really like it
The sad thing is the drama the development of this game
brought will probably hurt future Kickstarter games.
Anyone else think Dr. White looks like Spike Spiegel's nerdy cousin?
Kinda
What's funnier is Steve Blum is a voice actor in this game.
Figures. Not the funniest Spike Spiegel reference fro a character he's voiced outside of Cowboy Bebop, but still a bit funny nonetheless.
To me, he looks similar to Flin Lockwood from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
How dare you come up with any sort of similarity within this and Cowboy Bebop. For. Shame.
Keiji Inafune made his fans cry like an anime fan on prom night!
Oh well. I guess it's better than nothing...

My review for this game. Steam sale is still happening. Just buy Shantae or Shovel Knight.

+Swift_Heracross Like Rivals of Aether is an original suggestion
Rick Sanchez havent heard anyone mention it or suggest it
Swift_Heracross It's not even a platformer, just Smash Bros. for people without WiiUs.
I am about the see this review, but first I want to say two things:
1: Inafune ISN'T the creator, father of Megaman...That is Akira Kitamura.
2: I am not 100% about this...but the "is better that nothing" was a traslation (or maybe mistraslation) from the "traslator" of Inafune (and that big miss comunication could be an example of the hell during the developed of this game.
If those two points are in this review then I will be pleased >_<
PS: Sorry for the grammar in point two...I speack spanish so that parte was a little hard to write for me.
They aren't
Kitamura came up with the concept of Mega Man but Inafune finalized it it's no different from saying that Miyamoto created Link when in actuality most of Zelda was made by Eiji Aonuma but Miyamoto still gets most of the credit so why is it that because your pissed at Mighty #9 that Inafune is suddenly not the creator of Mega Man? because he still is
I get pretty upset when people credit Miyamoto to Zelda a lot when it's all Eiji.
+Gluff last time I checked Aonuma did not make any Zelda's until OOT so that is wrong
Except your wrong on both counts, when Inafune joined capcom Megaman had already been created and the first game was already in the early stages of development. The comparison to Miyamoto isn't apt either - Miyamoto actually did create Zelda and directed the first game (Aonuma had nothing to do with Zelda until OOT, and didn't take over the team until Majora's Mask) whereas Inafune was nothing more than an "artist" on the early megaman titles (on later titles he's credited as a producer) he never directed a single Megaman game. Either way the point is Inafune is a fucking hack and Megaman is in no way "his creation" , although if i can give him credit for one thing he did actually create Zero.
You had to put your new video out now of all times? Well I'm awake, so at least I can watch it.
It's better than nothing.
Hey, I'm sure it's a sensible time on Mars.
+SomecallmeJohnny Thanks, Johnny! I have a Martain cousin that hates how all of the people he is subscribed to upload videos at the worst possible time. He was very excited to see that this was uploaded at a reasonable time, you made his day!
I really liked this review because i had doubts about getting this game. Though sometimes okay first games can be used as stepping stones to create amazing second game hopefully it gets a sequel in where it will be better than its predecessor though they should fix the issues first. I actually really like most of your reviews because you have good balance and point out what is bad and what is good in a game in every game and you do not only talk about one or the other. If a game is really bad you will say it straight out but, if a good game has some issues you will point it out like in the undertale review.
If you do another marathon you should do uncharted that would be awesome
Hey, that's how Megaman started. The first game in the Classic series is so slippery, and the physics are so weird it's almost impossible to get through Gutsman's stage without a game-over.
And as for the next marathon...I'd love to see you tackle the X series. Your megaman reviews are some of my favorite of yours.
Wow I lost it when Beck climbed the invisible ladder.
That's how you do a video review: being witty funny, thorough and really informative. Loved it. Subscribed.
This game is a reminder that not all crowdfunded indie passion projects are destined for greatness.
I'm still excited for "Yooka-Yaylee" and "A Hat In Time", but it troubles me to know that THIS could also be those respective games' fate.
Wait, there's a project called 'A Hat In Time'?
DayZhawn Hunt
Yes, it's another crowdfunded 3D Platfomer. Unlike "Yooka-Yaylee", there really hasn't been any news recently, so I don't know what progress the game is making.
From what I've seen, it looks really inventive and beautiful. It was announced a few years ago. I hope we hear something about it soon.
Lol 2 years ago people thought yooka laylee was the surefire hit
Welp...this was better than nothing...
You sure you don't have a prom to go to?
+Lugbzurg what is this "Anime fan at prom night" Meme?
it's something that was said in the mighty No. 9 trailer: "make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night" were the exact words, naturally, the many, many anime fans who backed this were pissed at being made fun of in the trailer of the game they backed, and I can't really blame them
+Imposter_ if you're actually serious about knowing, look up: Mighty No.9 Trailer: Masterclass and you'll see what we mean
+Imposter_ Watch the Mighty Number 9 trailer.
Oh my god... You get it! YOU FUCKING GET IT! YES Megaman level design WAS ALWAYS THIS DIFFICULT AND UNFAIR! And the gameplay is very reminiscent to Megaman! But it is also different because of the dashing and absorbing! Your review addressed the problems but praised the actual good in this game. Your review is unbiased and very fair, and also level headed! You get a thumbs up from me sir.
The problem with what johnny said is that the megaman games taught you what the enemies would do unlike mighty no 9. It reminds me of the elephant section in mega man 9 where the difficulty of the enemy scales. First easy. Second one is harder and the third one is the hardest. The problem with mighty no 9 is that the dashing makes these issues more prevalent because the character is faster than megaman.
Wafflecone69 So? In Megaman X there is Dashing, heck in the Megaman Zero games there is dashing. If you have ever played Megaman and Bass like have for the GBA Bass can dash! So what if Mighty no 9 if you can dash, your making it sound like dashing was NEVER in any Megaman game, and you make it sound like the end of the world. The game is an okay games dude, stop hating. It should be better but that is what sequels are for.
Luchiano Monarch but in mighty no 9 you have to dash into the enemies which is a drastic change. It isn't dashing itself it is dashing into enemies. Dashing into fire and the knockback (which I hate in normal megaman).
Wafflecone69 Yeah but this is a new mechanic that makes Might no 9 special, it makes it new, it makes it special, you know what I mean? If you don't like it then that is just personal preference not because it is bad period.
Luchiano Monarch I disagree. Its not unique. Mega Man games teach you not to run into enemy fire like an idiot. They also forgot why the dash was so fun. The momentum from the dash made it so that it carried into your jump. Dashing isn't innovative. Its already been done. They failed at creating a new identity for him because dashing has been done already. Dashing into enemies feels like a gimmick.
Do you plan on playing Freedom Planet 2? You seemed to enjoy the first game.
I thought that was still on development

What's it feel like to knowingly lie, Juanny?
I don't think he is lying though if he's PC beats the requirements by a long shot it can cover the unoptimization of the game
he plays alot of sonic generation fan mods, his PC is a titian
I'm talking the gameplay itself.
Titian? Like the Renaissance artist?
On PC it is fine (except for some glitches). On consoles it's OK to horrible, depends on the console.
Man, remember when Mighty #9 existed?
The nightmare still lives on as people can still buy it. It's also for download on PlayStation Now. Which is like looking at a zombie
oh man, don't compare this to MegaMan 4, that game is one of my favorites after 2 and 1.
This game was released in mid-2016?
Wow...I was still in high school at the point. I could've sworn it wasn't that long ago that this whole fiasco was going down.
I'm still waiting for Egoraptor's opinion, it's going to be more angry than the avgn

+Sigmund Zaman Yeah, lemons!
No, he'll just defend it to no end.
Well that's about as valid criticism as most of the criticism this game has gotten.

To think it's been already half a decade since this game came out. It felt like it was yesterday.
Mighty N.9 is the Sonic Forces of Mega Man
Mega Man 11 is the Sonic Mania of Mega Man.
Change my mind.
Mega Man 11 doesn’t rely on nostalgia though.

The whole point of Mega Men 11 is returning Mega Man to his former glory.
@@ledetbrothers9210
I think Mega Man 9 (and even 10) were like the Sonic Mania for Mega Man, since they went back to making it look like an NES game
Fair analogy.

Johnny should play Ori and the blind forest, it's the perfect game for him since he likes Metroidvania games.
"mega man 4 is just okay"
wrong, johnny boy!
Whenever this game comes up only one phrase comes to mind: I'm sorry.
MN9 is a excellent example of why crowd funding is a scam
I can't agree more. This game was clearly in marketing and development hell, but the final product is something that is average at worst. It's by no means an awful game, just...alright. This is also coming from someone who backed the game at $100 because I was excited to see a classic megaman game again.
Disappointed is all one can really be.
Sorry to hear about that man. I know I backed $60 into Bloodstained, so I'm just keeping my eye out and hope the game is even a smash hit.
is that game out yet. nobody talks about its development
Nope, It's stated to come out this year, but that could change.
It's slated to come out early next year. Right next to KH3.
Damn.
To be frank with you, I never expected to see Mighty No. 9 to see the light of day.... But against all odds, it reached the finish line... stumbled badly but finished. It may be average at best and is just a Megaman re-skin for speedrunners but damn, its main theme sounds so amazing. One of the best video game themes I've ever heard, Mighty No. 9 has that and nails it. Since its basically Megaman with Playstation 2 graphics and I myself not much of a Megaman fan at all, I'll just skip this one. Its soundtrack however I'll find and download using my free RUclips to MP3 player converter. If the game is not good, its soundtrack will and I'm filled with Determination to add it in my playlist. =)
Another great video Johnny.
On a side note, despite the advertising and long wait time I see a lot of people complain about Mighty.09 for playing like a Mega man game even though I'm pretty sure it was specifically advertised as a Mega Man game...wasn't that what people were excited about in the first place? I'm so confused.
its because, while it was like a megaman game, it was more of a Megaman 5 than a Megaman 2.
Megaman 5 was very Mediocre compared to Megaman 2 which people consider a Masterpiece.
+Imposter_ Ah I could see that yeah.
+Imposter_ At least Megaman 5 wasn't as bugged
Yeah but at least a game being bugged could be fixed, I'm just a little confused because even people who liked Mega Man 5 are complaining about it.
This attitude baffles me, they wanted a Mega Man game, they got it. Now they complain about it playing like a Mega Man game.
+Shadrown It's sad but after seeing this, it's true, like Johnny I'm also disappointed but I'm not going to complain because in the end they did deliver what people asked for. A Mega Man game, one that's shitty, but a Mega Man game nonetheless.
7:52 me to my geometry teacher
Mecha Andrew prove that you don’t have time for this bullshit in 5 sentences or more .( that’s what mine would say )
Hey Johnny, can you please review GunVolt on the 3DS?
Or rather on steam, since the steam version has more content
i think he said he didn't really like it
Yeah, ive been waiting for him to review this n.n
That game was a mighty disappointment. Gaijin Goomba made sound really exhilarating with its social commentary and its Mega Man-ish gameplay. What I got was a mediocre, slow platformer that wasn't even that fun to play.
+Lysander789 I'm off topic here, but it's always nice to see that content creators are still normal people who participate in discussions and watch youtube videos in their spare time.
Everyone has their selection of weapon powers they use. My three top ones are from Bat, Shade, and Dyna; aside from Avi's helicopter jump. I think makes sense that Bat's bomb shot is the most popular and useful in battle power. All of the robots are for fighting, but Bat is a walking talking gun, with guns, and made with a military style personality.
This video made me cry harder than an overused joke on Tornado Tonion
A Mighty No. 9 review that doesn't completely tearbit apart?
Good on ya, Jhonny.
Do you consider Mighty No. 9 to basically be the Sonic 06 of Megaman?
No way. MN9 is at least playable.
Sonic Boom more like??
Sonic '06 has the advantage of actually being memorable.
yeah also sonic 06 at times was actually fun in a super bad way
as opposed to this medicore snorefest
Thats too exagerated, an Sonic Heroes is enough
I just fucking realized is that Arin from Game Grumps in the billboard 13:52
Dear God, you're right. Did he back up this game up with a crazy amount of money or something?
bortkupo I don't know, I haven't heard him talk about funding it. Does he have someone that he is in good relationship with on the team?
Even more of a reason to dislike this game.
Wow, I would almost feel sorry for him if he did.
In future titles of videos he appears in, instead of being acknowledged as "Arin from Game Grumps" he'll be acknowledged as "Arin from the one MN9 billboard"
4 Years Later…
looks interesting
I'm more hyped for Bloostained personally
From the look of it, it looms way more invested in.
Bloodstained will probably be a good game. Unlike Mighty No 9.
Alonzo Tompkins well, hey, come on, MN9 isn't bad, just underwhelming from what I've seen in this video
I think a better way to describe it is, mediocre. It isn't bad but it isn't good either.
Kylesico912x it has good aspects what are you talking about?
sure it might not have very many but it still has them
did anyone else watch this video after johnny vs megaman 11
Would you kindly review Azure Striker Gunvolt?

Envy Noson YES though something tells me he's not gonna like how the boss Adepts talk to you in the middle of the fight in the second game.
Envy Noson I love Azure Striker Gunvolt. Got them on 3DS, love the sequel more. Best indie games ever.
MLL2002 Azure Striker Gunvolt Striker pack coming to the Switch? SWEET!
Basically the better version of Mighty No.9
9:20 thought he would confront that refrence... u know... from dust an elysian tale
Well the closest thing most people would see to be a close Mega Man and it turned out to be (mostly) a bust. But hey, at least he was in Sm4sh , so he isn't truly dead yet!
After Capcom is finished with rebooting Resident Evil for the Xth time, maybe they should focus back on Mega Man.
What's that? Did someone say they wanted a new version of Street Fighter 5?
+A.S. king Capcom said they weren't going to follow the trend of the old Street Fighter games and all updates (characters, costumes, etc.) would be available for free. That's why there is an in-game shop.
Free my ass, they already have Premium Costumes available to buy with only the real money, sooner or later they will either do premium stages or worse, premium characters
really your mad about premium costumes
just. just wow
Capcom also said the same for Marvel VS Capcom 3. Then they released Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 not even 6 months later. Plus as Omega Coolster has said, they already have premium costumes.
I was taking a break from you and BrainScratch crew, but I forgot how much I enjoy you, Lewis, Elliot, Ted, Gareth, Ryan, and everyone else. So you keep doing you. You're a nice breath of fresh air in this shitshow of a world.
"It's better than nothing." should be the tagline of the game.
Sonic Mania > Mighty n.9
JADEN JACKSON
What do you mean?
Why sonic mania?
Random Duck
Because it's a ressurection of the series?
You can't compare them, wtf dude?
Azumarill_TF2
Why?
Man i love you.I think this is the first review i watched that really reviews the game and just doesn't talk about the backers issues for 20 minutes and say that the game is bad without even playing it.
I thought the game was okay overall. Parts I hated, parts I loved...I wouldn't mind a more professional sequel, however unlikely that is. In all fairness I did not back this, but I did buy a physical copy for WiiU, so yeah. There's potential there.
I even watch vs videos of games I don't enjoy because your humor and authenticity shine through. Plus I always learn cool facts behind the game. Thanks for your love of games and thanks for always brightening up my lamer days.

+Der Ritter I'd sell my soul to the devil for ZX 3. Advent was awesome and it ended on a cliffhanger... UGH.
what about Megaman Soccer 2?
when johnny said he was gonna do Overwatch, i danced. Cant wait for it johnny!
I mean... at this point, I just don't care much for this game anymore. If anything, I feel horrible for all the backers that got an (AT BEST) "okay" experience (After the whole "getting crapped on by Capcom" thing or whatever, these fans deserved better than what they ended up getting with Mighty No. 9). Dat small loan of 4 MILLION DOLLARS (Yes, yes. AAA titles cost more. I know that. We're talking about an indie title) though. And all because this project had to be THAT ambitious... to the point where the focus and the heart was lost. And now it's biting Inafune and Comcept in the ass. (Even though Inafune did admit that it was all on him and that he is taking full responsibility for this game and everything around it)
Makes me glad that I've got my eyes on Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. I have not been disappointed with what I've seen about it throughout the updates and trailers and demos. The only big complaint that I've seen a lot is MAYBE the change in art style from Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (And that's fair enough. People may like Pirate's Curse's art style more.) but... nothing in regards to "shady" practices or huge technical problems that keep the game from functioning as it's supposed to (including a mostly consistent 60 FPS). For the most part, things are coming along nicely and people are looking forward to its release in September.
Heh... Johnny's one of the very few people that isn't all "yelly" about this whole Mighty No. 9 thing, but honestly... it doesn't matter (to ME at least) as long as enough info about the game is made present in the review. You did well, Johnny. :]
And to think that Inafune was tryin' to do all this stuff like making an animated Mighty No. 9 series... is that still going to happen btw? Hmm... I wonder if it's going to be like the Sonic Boom tv series in that... the tv series will be MUCH better than the actual games themselves. XD
this game made the kickstarter backers cry like an anime fan on prom night
This Wii U game's graphics reminds me of Megaman X7. That was a PS2 game that looked like a PS1 game.
Bloodstained redeemed this method
I love how when he talks about how they should've used art portraits Beck moved around whilst call stood there in one art
I guess I'll wait for a price drop
Wise decision
or free for ps+
or ya know. just don't buy it.
Dogan While that is also an option, I was still looking forward to this game, so I still want to experience it for myself
+KidSnivy69 An even wiser decision would be to not waste your money on this garbage and go pick up Overwatch.
Any chance for a Fallout retrospective?
Also, excellent review, like always. Goddamn, you have to be the most consistent RUclipsr I know, your quality hasn't dropped since I started watching you back in 2012.
If anything, it keeps getting better.
hey, It's better than nothing I guess
Wow! A perfectly fair review not cashing in on the hate bandwagon. Nice to see.
''It's better than nothing'' Shockingly a game that disappointed me more than MGSV
Johnny, when are we getting the Shin Megami Tensei Marathon?
Not anytime soon, that's for sure. He has a lot of other marathons he wants to do this year.
...I really want it too.
Superflaming85 If it ends up being less than 35 videos, I'll classify it as dissapointing
He needs to play the games first.
+Superflaming85 Well yeah, but like.. After those.. .-.
iirc, he said that he was going to take a break from marathons after all that he's got planned (which goes on for awhile and includes Pokemon).
I want to see him get to Shin Megami Tensei series eventually. However it will probably be like 2-4 years before we do get it since to my knowledge he hasn't played any of them besides being part of the Persona 1 Let's Play on SGB with Matt. Hopefully Lewis and Matt's SMT love rubs off on Johnny. XD
I remember ProJared played this and it almost completely fucked his pc up mid recording.
I enjoyed my playthrough of MN9 so I've been kinda wary of reviews.
That being said, I didn't mind yours at all, Johnny, lol. Your analysis seemed pretty fair
and I was super happy to hear your comparisons to classic Megaman. I agreed a lot with your views for the most part.
All that aside, I'm really hoping Comcept learns from what they did here and gives us an amazing sequel.
Isn't Undertale a Kickstarter game?
and Freedom Planet i believe
Yes it was :) John may not have mentioned it because he thought the game was just good not amazing. The Kickstarter games he did mention are ones he likes and ones he thinks looks good :)
Juan doesn't really care about it.
yes it was
heh, only that game asked for only 5,000 dollars
and raised over 50,000 dollars
people are hating on mighty no 9 because millions of people pledged up to 4 million dollars and all they got was this mess
now I personally think its an ok game, so if you love mega man, you'll love this game
but knowing bias rage, no one fucking cares
correction: Juanny
I feel really bad that this had to happen to a game, that the original Mega Man was a thing around in my childhood, were so many people were happy to see a breath of life into a series that had been dead for a long time to them. Just to find out even the original creator couldn't bring his life long creation back :( it makes me happy that some series didn't have this happen to them. Sorry to all the people that were disappointed by all of this.
Mighty #9 was a damn letdown, I was hopeful that Mighty #9 would be a solid successor to Megaman's olden days, like Yooka-Laylee was to Banjo-Kazooie. However, it seems like Mighty #9's greatest downfall was it's ambition, it very clearly spread itself thin by trying to get onto so many platforms, with a grand total of 8 different platforms, Mighty #9 appears to have ended up shooting themselves in the foot by not focusing their programming resources on fewer consoles, maybe 2-4 would've been a more conservative and wiser choice, who knows, no one can truly predict a separate outcome like that. I was hopeful Mighty #9 would've gotten off the ground, and that it would meet my expectations, but with frequent frame drops and poor game design choices, it can feel like you're slogging through a level just so you can get it out of the way. Which sadly can be said about a few of the levels.
BronzieBlue Now Yooka Laylee sucks
Raime, shhh kid youtubers aren't here, you don't need to impress anyone
Dark Chocolate Gamer it does though
There's a large, and I mean large amount of people who disagree with you. But I let people have your opinion just don't try to dictate your opinions and the 'Infinite" answer
And to a great number of them it was. Including me and my brothers who all played the original 2 games.
Wait, the PC version is the most stable?!
I saw ProJared's let's play of this on PC and after all the fixes it gets it can still hold for 30 minutes before the memories starts leaking.
Ukulele is not the best
I guess that the two characters are at Dr White's Beck and Call. *Boodom tisk*. I'll leave now
That might have been the pun.
Like Rock and Roll.
Hey, have you tried Mighty Gunvolt Burst? I'd say it's a far better Mighty No. 9 experience.
Woah hey, man. MegaMan 5 was NOT "just okay". Had the best level designs of any MegaMan NES game back in the day! Best bosses, best musics, c'mon man... Not cool!
I agree, though, that MN9 got way too much money to turn out the way it did. Who can DEFEND this? Who can say we got what we collectively paid for? Who can look at this game and say 900k went into the production of this game?
Who can do that, and then look at games like Shovel Knight, or Hyper Light Drifter? Both of them got WAY less than 900k. They're still way better than Mighty No. 9, which just barely manages to be better than NOTHING.
Mega Man 5 isn't particularly popular compared to the other games: a universal complaint being that it didn't add anything innovating to the series and didn't do enough to separate itself from the other NES games. I personally consider 5 my least favorite in the series: Its underwhelmingly easy for a MM game, it offers the weakest system of Robot Master weapons (which are all outclassed just by the Charge Shot), the Bosses feel pretty uninspired to me and none of them were hard, and overall it just feels like "Been there, done that", it just doesn't do enough that the other games already can't. Imo, the only standout thing about 5 is some of its music: The Final Boss theme, both Wily/Dark Man Castle themes, Napalm Man's music, the Title theme, and more are all pretty great.
In the end, it's all up to the individual, and for a good number of people, 5 just didn't do enough to give its own identity. I respect your opinion nonetheless though :)
Funkermonster Thanks, man. I actually wasn't aware that 5 was universally regarded so low. A lot of MegaMan fans I've talked to usually agree that 5 was pretty great (ChargeMan and GravityMan have easily the catchiest themes in all of MegaMan, right up there with SnakeMan!).
T'be fair, I'm probably the oddball. MegaMan-2 and 3 are considered THE NES MegaMan games. Like, okay. SnakeMan was awesome but... 5 and 6 were clearly superior c'mon MegaMan didn't even have his charge shot back then!
... speaking of, let's face it. MegaMan has never been a game where people talk about how awesome the weapons are. People pretty much save them for bossfights and then go charge buster for the rest of everything. MegaMan 2 was just that rare gem where Metal Blade happened because it was stupidly cheap and OP. But underusage of weapons was not a flaw unique to 5 in the SLIGHTEST.
Everytime someone mentions the lackluster weapons in megaman 5 I have to point out Geminilaser's playthrough of megaman 5. He goes out of his way to show off a lot of neat tricks and places to use the special weapons that are not immediately obvious.
4 and 5 are the best nes entries
DJFlare84 Out of all the classic megaman games, 5 was the only one where I felt bored. It was okay and liked protomans castle stages as well as some of the bosses. The problem I have with 5 is it doesn't do enough with it's level design, it feels simplified and flat at times. The level gimmicks in 5 often are not featured enough within the level or they haven't done enough with the gimmicks themselves to make the level stand out. You could argue that the robot masters in 5 are decent but I don't personally play megaman games for the robot masters.
This is the best Mighty No 9 review I've seen. So level headed and honest.
A very calm, and informative review. Love your shit, man. There's a reason why i clicked on this the moment i saw it in my subscriptions.
Let's just hope that Half-Genie Hero doesn't disappoint.
Megaman 11 is what Mighty no.9 was trying to be. The Irony
This game's main problem is the dash and how it's implemented: You get physical damage from touching enemies, and the Dash used to finish them after shot enough; the problem lies in when you need to shoot the enemies and willingly dashes when you think you've done enough damage, when you actually need to stop to shoot a little more than you expected; then the platforming comes into place and usually your attack or defense is temporarily boosted, but sometimes also is your dash, which means you'll have to quickly get used to the slightly longer dash, and when you finally do the power-up runs out so you'll have to get used to again.
They should have stuck with the dash just for platforming, not incorporating it into combat, or else it might have put some use to the other power you get from the Mighty Numbers.
