Thanks for doing this...I'm trying to get started but I'm a total novice. I've only used a sewing machine to make a few things...a cushion cover...make-up bag...etc. But I do have an idea and I would love to turn it into a business. Wish me luck!
For whatever reason RUclips served this up to me today, 6 years later. I looked up your business today, just wondering how it was going. I can see you're thriving and just welcomed your first baby! I love that for you all and am truly happy this humble beginning has brought you joy, success and the ability to be with your kid as they grow. Congratulations on your hard work and the pay off. :) It's so fun to see where it began and then be able to see the after too.
That's fantastic! I have a pet accessory business too and just quit my "day job" after four years of doing this! It's definitely a tough job if you're doing it all by yourself. I also didn't have a background in business or marketing which made it extra hard, but worth it! Wish you guys much success!
I love how your family works together. How do I know? The Joy in your smile is bountifully overflowing. Amazing surprises you share while doing something you enjoy multiplies the blessings. Excellent gifts.
So happy for you and I don’t even know you lol. I am starting my bandana business too. I started sewing them last month a little at a time and yesterday morning alone, I was able to sew 55 bandanas. I’m so terrified to put myself out there, but I’m doing it.
I am with you on the scary putting out self out there........I have been going to all the bazaars and researching successful peeps.....they all say make sure you Have Quality (something your proud of even if it does not sale) and INVENTORY......people want it NOW..........good luck
I would love to start doing exactly that for a non-profit organization called Law n Paws who takes care of abused, and neglected dogs. I would raise money to help out this very worthy cause because the operation costs a lot of money to run. I taught myself how to sew and I've previously created face masks which after awhile came out great. Everything of the proceeds went to the organization and they were absolutely thankful and could rescue more dogs in need. I recently purchased a semi-professional embroidery machine that i still have to learn to customize dog names etc. This seems like a fun operation that is actually doable. Thanks for the very informative video and encouragement. All my best... 😀
Hi, I’m starting a business of my own and would like more videos of how you use the Cricut machine on your bandanas (i.e which vinyl you use etc.) Thanks in advance!
Hi Dani. Can you give me dimensions of your templates? I have no desire to make a business out of it. Just want to make some for my family and friends pups. If you don’t do this already, you should get sports teams fabrics and make them. I think they would be good sellers. Thanks.
Hi why would they give out their formula!!! Go ask COKE COLA to give you the RECIPE. They are not showing how to make bandanas they are high lighting whether they can live on the money they make.
@@reesemorgan2259 Brother has one that is very good for beginner and hooks to computer can even add your own designs.I got mine at WALLY WORLD you might call it ASDA being English. Wish I could send you a picture of mine. That is something that I wish could be done on RUclips.
I have an Etsy shop where I sell dog accessories and I would LOVE for it to be my full time job. Unfortunately I haven't been able to have it up and running lately due to a current contract job I'm working but I can't wait until I can get it up and running again :)
Do you wash the fabrics before using them/after the bandanas are done? I’m mostly thinking about shrinking or color bleeding when washing. Also, do you have washing instructions with your orders? I hope you don’t mind me asking. I’ve watched a few of your vlogs and they’re so helpful - thank you for sharing! 😊
I also have an online business, we make wollen hand-knit dog sweaters. They are top quality and fair priced, however, we only sold like 4 sweaters in a year:))) Thank you for sharing about your business! It's good to hear that there are people out there that can actually live off from a small family business :)
Do you have a size chart and pattern for your bandanas. I am making some and finding all different size measurements for the same side bandana ~ doesn't seem to be a uniform pattern ~ thank you
You go girl! I am. so proud of you ,making these Dog Bandanas . I make beautiful one of a kind all natural Crystal Jewelery such as Amythest, Citrine, onyx,Herkiemer and lava Bracelets. I make All triple A Dark purple Amythest necklaces and I also add beautiful charms to them.
Just loved your video, I don't make dog bandanas but I do make costumes mainly for my family. May I ask where you buy your fabric? Its so expensive at Joann's and I just can't afford it. I love sewing but there fabric is crazy pricey.
We get our fabrics from different places. In our experience Joanns is the cheapest price, especially with all of their coupons. I'm sure you could do a lot of research online and find somewhere cheaper
Filing taxes when you have your own business is a nightmare. I had a small business for over 20 years and I have never been so happy to not have to do that tax nightmare anymore. I love this video! Her bandanas are so cute!
If you're good at spread sheets and keeping records up to date, it can be pretty simple. We have a great accounting system and it is super simple so it has been great for us.
For the abandoned carts do you have a site that reminds people that they left stuff in their cart like WISH does? The WISH one gives a discount sometimes if you come back to it and buy.
I know you can get a lot of cute affordable fabric on Amazon and eBay, that's where I get most of mine from as it's cheap and if you shop around a little you can get great quality fabric for really cheap! One of my favourite sellers on Amazon is Nortex mill, it's around £3 per metre and brilliant quality polycotton so light and easily washable so perfect for pets!
Hi, Im a high school student trying to start a dog bandana buisness, but I dont know how to tell my parents without them shutting my idea down right away. Any ideas for me
question on when you sew the whole thing and leave the tops open to turn - when you put the dog collar through -does that fabric you folded there - come loose and fray after a use or a wash or two?
No she explained in the beginning she sews the edge of the fabric first and I think that was what she meant was that she sews the turned ends down before she sews the 2 sides together If you look close at 3:35 you can see the place where the collar is put threw it is the outside fabric you are seeing.
Dani-- on your sizes on your website a medium is 12"x8.25". is this the total of the fabric or the finished size? in other words, do i need to add seam allowance to this?
anajane803 did you ever figure out how to do the side openings? I’m trying to learn but have no idea how to give it a clean look like the rest of the bandana!

@loristrout4741, I love this comment, such a smart response!!
Thanks for the video. You’re adorable.
My question is how did you know which templet to use online? They all have different sizes
Sierra Sun since it’s your company you get to choose your sizes. We’ve learned its best to have a lot of sizes because dogs range in size so much
Hi Sierra
Would highly suggest you get an embroidery machine (single needle to start) and your sales will most likely increase. Maybe make some matching leads.
Any idea as to which machine is reliable and doesn't cost like $5,000? (I'm English but I thought you'd prefer to count in dollars)

i missed the link for the pattern or do you not share this.. ????
We do not
Sounds great! Happy for you! I wonder have you done a video about taxes on all this.
Taxes vary so much on where you live and we are not experts so we will not be covering this- we suggest contacting a local account to assist you :)

Hi can u please show ur design s
You should ask Tops and Bottoms if they can make you a plastic template. I make handbags for a living and the strong plastic templates are awesome.
Hi Shane
I just found you and would love to see the cricut in use with the bandanna.
Do you use Cricut vinyl or is that a different type that you buy in bulk? :)
Shantel M I use a different brand- Cricut brand vinyl is way over priced haha
love this whats the measurements on the cardboard pattern
The video that I need to see!
You guys have come a long way 😂

We do have that set up for our website, so when someone abandons their cart they are reminded :)

This is sooo helpfull
Thanks for the information
How do you sew it so fabric doesnt fray on the openings
Use an overlocker or a zig-zag stitch so it doesn't fray
a serger works best for that
Love your shirt lol I love Casey Holmes!! 💖
Did you boast esty or your website?

Tails Up, Pup!! www.tailsuppup.com

Can you print their name on any of the bandanas? Thanks

Do you leave raw edges at the side openings?
anajane803 no.
@@DaniBrouse Thanks. I'll watch it again and see how to do it. I'm new to sewing. It's still a mystery how it all comes together.
