      That jeep trying to merge didn't design that freeway entrance. He just has to use it.
      The Cammer should understand this since he/she/they have to use these same crappy freeway entrances themselves at times.

      In before the "JEEP SHOULD HAVE SLOWED DOWN" comment, despite the fact that the jeep actually had the positioning and the cammer could have just tapped his brakes ever so slightly, instead both of them got stuck slowing down from 65 to under 50.

    • @Darkshadow10157
      @Darkshadow10157 Год назад

      This was my first thought as well. However, legally it's the Jeep's responsibility to merge safely, as others have pointed out. Yes, the cammer could have tapped the brakes to give the Jeep space to merge. That would have been the prudent and polite thing to do, but not legally required. However, the Jeep also could have (and legally speaking, should have) accelerated a little faster to create the space needed or slowed down to merge behind.

      I encounter car owners often that brake or even stop on a highway to let in a merger. This bad behavior is responsible for many Braking Waves, and it encourages mergers to ignore the rules of right-of-way and have an expectation that everybody on the highway will brake or disappear so that they can merge without accelerating to the speed of traffic or waiting for a better opening in the traffic. Many of these violators also, having failed to yield to a driver who refused to brake or swerve, suddenly have no problem accelerating to 90 MPH so that they can get in front of the driver who had the right-of-way.

    • @solandri69
      @solandri69 Год назад +1

      Agreed. But if you've never encountered a roundabout before and don't know how they're supposed to work, then falling back to a strategy of slowing down or stopping when you're not sure, is usually safer than going or speeding up when you're not sure. (Exception would be freeway mergers, where matching speed with traffic you're merging into is safer than coming to a stop.)
      Overall I'm pretty impressed with today's video. Multiple clips with drivers being polite or failing safely, rather than failing dangerously.

    • @danielv7340
      @danielv7340 Год назад

      @@solandri69 Driving on a public road isn't an exploratory expedition. Everyone with a driving license should know all rules and regulations, not guess at every corner how to mitigate it. After all, roundabout or not, there are the old yield signs posted.

      Another mystery of the Universe: Double turn lanes.

    • @solandri69
      @solandri69 Год назад

      @@danielv7340 If that were the requirement before you could drive, nobody would be able to drive. The California vehicle code book is nearly 1400 pages. I seriously doubt anybody knows *all* those rules. And different states have different rules, some of them contradictory. So you'd need to memorize 50x that before you'd be allowed to drive around the country according to your standard.
      The reality is that people know the probably 20% of rules which cover 99% of situations. And they wing it if they find themselves in a situation in the remaining 1%. Occasionally an obscure situation pops up in these videos and people in the comments dig up the relevant portion of the driving code and quote from it. But that's not a luxury you have when you're driving.
      While the yield sign is visible when entering a roundabout, once you're inside it's not immediately obvious that *every* entrance has a yield sign if it's your first time. Some of them have signs explaining traffic entering has to yield to traffic inside the roundabout. But I've seen plenty with only yield signs. Now that this driver has encountered a roundabout, hopefully once they got home they searched online how they're supposed to work. But they did the prudent thing by taking it slow and cautiously their first time.

    • @danielv7340
      @danielv7340 Год назад

      @@solandri69 Yeah typical, we jump from one extreme to another. I'm sure nobody knows everything, but a roundabout is not such an uncommon situation on the roads. I'm pretty sure they all have at least one yield sign that you have to pass to get into the roundabout itself. Every place has a driver's handbook that is pretty small and concise, but contains all the basics a driver should know before getting a license, and can also use to refresh their memory as the case may be. Traffic rules are not relying on a lot of knowledge, otherwise half the population in every country wouldn't have a license. But when you do get one, you can't claim you don't know what a roundabout is.

      What is going on at your intersections when it comes to turning left?

    It’s a shame when the driver is at fault by almost hitting your car, cuts you off, hit and run, or just sits at the green light not paying attention, you honk your horn and they flip you off, not taking accountability of their mistake. Some people who get honked at, take to the extreme and start road rage to the point of trying to fight you, push you off the road or even end your life, over something so minor. Some adults act like total immature brats on the road, but tell their own kids to respect others, and that same adult does the opposite towards other adults. The people at fault on the road, flips off the other driver and that driver could come after you in anger. One of you could end up in jail for a few days or the rest of your life. It’s not worth it. If someone flips you off, let them go, karma will find them.
