A lot of my female friends have complained about how hard it is to turn the steering wheel when they're driving at slow speed (like a right turn on red). It's a consequence of difference in arm strength between men and women. Not prejudice. I've often wondered why car manufacturers don't let you dial up the power steering boost so each driver could select a level that's comfortable for them. You could tie it in with the power seat adjustment presets, so multiple drivers of the same car could automatically use their own setting.

The insurance corporation is trying to weasel-out of a claim, despite the damage being caused by the incompetent or passive-agressive driving behavior of the other car owner that ignored an apparent red signal and then attempted to occupy both of the available lanes. I have encountered such drivers in the same situation at various intersections, and have found that giving them more room only invites them to do what happened to the victim here. Yeah. Your insurance is supposed to fight for you in a disagreement like this. Your insurance premium doesn't just pay for damages you may suffer or cause in an accident. It also pays for legal costs if your insurance company has to fight another insurance company in court over the accident. If you're using a cheap insurance company (fewer customers to amortize court costs over), they may just concede a ridiculous claim like this to save a few hundred bucks, instead of fighting for you tooth and nail.

Lawyer: So despite getting warned twice, and seeing the car coming, you took no defensive maneuvers to avoid a collision, hitting your car and maybe hurting your passenger?
Cammer: But protected green arrow...other driver at fault...I don't have to do anything to avoid a collision, it's mah lane!!

It makes sense that when they have green for straight forward, there will be less chances for cars coming across, but that should not be a factor in checking the road you enter. Again, you can check faster and not stop, a yield sign doesn't imply to come to a complete stop, but not all drivers are alike. If you are better than others, that also mean you can anticipate slower/hesitant driver's moves and this instance would have been no issue for a good driver.
