    This is just wild to get a microphone to work on this OA3, they advertised as straight in with no adapters. Got a nice Sennheiser USB C microphone - now it is useless.

    Hi, thanks for this. I found you as I was considering trying the Purple Panda mic with the adapter on my OA3. Previously, I used a Saramonic mic adapter with a cheap Hama Notebook mic (no longer available) which produced a nice 50/50 voice/exhaust recording, but recently, I had been having issues with corrupted files. Either video with no audio, or no file at all. So I bit the bullet, and bought the adapter and DJI’s own lavalier mic. I recently released my own test on this set up, riding my Royal Enfield Classic 350 on the motorway and normal roads. Now, ok, we are not talking massive speeds here, but the quality was pretty good. It was a wet and windy day, on the motorway we experienced a bit of clipping around 60mph, but on the normal roads it was very good. The reason I was thinking of trying the PP mic, is that I have lost some of the exhaust note, I would say we are now at 60% voice 40% exhaust, which I am a tad disappointed about. That said, there is hardly any wind noise, and most people who commented, were very impressed with just how clear it is. With your exhaust being higher up, and louder, I really think the DJI mic might just be better for you. In my test, I didn’t fit a dead cat, and the mic was fitted just in front of the right hand cheek pad, the camera gain was set to -5. Have a look/listen, see what you think (just tap on my symbol 😉). Cheers

    This adapter works like a charm with DJI OA 3 for motovlogging..I would have never bought this if you had never made this video as it is a bit expensive deal for a microphone adapter.. Thanks for making this!☺️

    Hi, just purchased a oa3 and a cheap aftermarket adaptor, i use a purple panda mic for motovlogging and thought it would all work with this cheap adapter to which it doesn't work. I'm over the moon for watching your vlog and I'm going to order one asap. Thanks mate

    Less distortion on the OA4 set up maybe drop db to -7 or -10 may make better in wind noise at speed

    Since you put the video out, have you changed to using the wireless mic 2?? I’m new to DJI and have both, but still need to do some testing, I still think the adaptor at £45 is better than GoPros media mod….also would you run the wired mic in stereo or mono? Thanks for the video

    • @gsd32i
      @gsd32i  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Charlie, firstly sorry for the delay, it slipped through the net!! To be honest the DJI stuff is very good BUT it's really about the placement of the microphone, some helmets are better than others. So you just have to go out and ride with different settings and locations to hear what is best. I'm still trying to get it better. I use mono, stereo would be used for when you have the 2 mics and you want to pop one in a rucksack for exhaust sound etc then this allows you to have separate volume levels and you can play about with those in post edit to get the right balance of sound. Hope this helps a bit!

      Hi, great question.Just been into my garage and tried it...action 4 no problem, action 3 defaults to internal mic when the power is plugged in, but you can charge it with the mic plugged in. I will put an update in description . Thanks 👍

    Wicked and thorough video dude, massive help, got a question though about the mic connections. I’ve got the dji mic 1 kit and I wanna know if I can use the second mic but stored in my backpack (to get clearer exhaust audio) AS WELL as having one of them in the helmet and connected to that 3.5mm. OR, use the 3.5mm connector, but connect the audio receiver in the mic kit to it INSTEAD of the audio jack( I.e, the usb type c port) That way it can be a wireless connection but to 2 mics? One in the helmet and one in the backpack? Would be very helpful and making editing of my future vids ALOT easier if that were possible. If you have the “dji mic 1” kit, would you be able to test that and see if it works??

    • @gsd32i
      @gsd32i  4 месяца назад

      hi. Yes that works , I have done it, but there is a bit of work to do in editing when it comes to the audio. I just put the 2nd mic in my back pocket and then adjust the audio levels as and when I want the sound of the exhaust to come through when editing. Easily workable but most of the time I forget to do it as it makes more work for me,. I should have used it for there m1000xr video I did a few days ago but didn't. Plenty of RUclips videos showing how to use 2 microphones and what to do in post edit. All takes TIME......👍

    Im just testing the adaptor with mixed results. My main issue is with my KTM 690 at speed. I have a rally tower which blasts my helmet with air. Going slower or standing up seems to be the only solution.

    • @gsd32i
      @gsd32i  6 месяцев назад

      Hi . Try wedging it in the side between the check pads and inside of the helmet . I have got a plastic strip wrapped in black tape that slots inside the chin area of the helmet and I simply clip the microphone onto that .

    Only thing with the OA3 and the adapter is power pass thru doesn't work. With OA4 you need a very hot mic to get good recording levels for non super loud environments.

    To be fair the OA3 has quite a bit of audio distortion compared to the OA4 but a good review of the adapter this, did have the OA3 a little while ago though will be upgrading to the OA4 soon.

    What I am trying to do is use the audio input from my in ear monitor while playing drums. Basically I have a mix that I control through my phone from the soundboard, and I want to use a splitter to split one send to me and one send to the dji and record what I am hearing in my in ears on the dji so that i get good audio mix from recording drums. do you think this would work?

    Hello I hope you are fine. The Osmo Action 4 does NOT require adapters to connect a DJI Mic 2 microphone, since it connects directly to the camera via Bluetooth, that is how I use it and if I want to use a wired microphone, I would buy one with a type C connector. But If you are going to use the two tx of mic 2 if you should use the rx connected directly to the camera without so much cable

      Wind is deadcat and keep it some out of wind. You can remove wind in edit. But that leaves speak, and most other will be gone. So, best is deadcats.

    Wait till you try the OA4 with the stand alone Mic 2, complete game changer and perfect at -12 gain. Don’t RUclips just for personal use but I dropped the Lavalier mic and clip the mic inside my neck warmer using the magnet, useful for me as I use a modular helmet but I now have a lot of expensive gear. Dave at Wheelie Good TV uses the same set up. We do live in an age of amazing tech but your solution is great for the OA3 which is still a super camera. I use mine now on the handlebars looking towards the rider.

      Thanks, it's great if you have the money to change to the next best thing every year, but it just gets too expensive. If DJI wanted to send me one to test then I would gladly do it. Dave is a sound tech chap and clearly knows his stuff. If a friend has one I will ask to try it out.Enjoy making more videos with the new mics and ride safe. 👍
