  • A gentle 10 minute seated stretching routine geared to increasing your flexibility. Gentle stretches from a chair for anyone, but specifically designed for older adults and seniors in mind.

      Thank you and welcome to my channel! Just to help you navigate the channel, I create 3 levels of workouts (gentle, beginner and intermediate) in both seated and standing workouts, and categorize them all into the playlists. Just look for 'playlists' on the main page and scroll down to where you see the seated options. I also started a second channel dedicated to chair workouts and will add the link for you here: youtube.com/@ImprovedHealthChairWorkouts
      I now upload all new seated workouts to the new channel.
      Lastly, I upload all of the workouts from both channels to my website at www.improvedhealthforseniors.com

    I sometimes do one of your stretching series different times during the day when I feel stiff or to loosen up the arthritis. Thanks for what you do. I tried other peoples workouts before I found you and could never keep up. You do a lot for us older women.

    Thank you Julie! Another great video that was just right!! I found you a couple of months ago... in my 50's and in the worst shape ever. With your wonderful videos, I started with the chair exercises & stretches to get some mobility back, and feel better (I was feeling frail compared to years of better physical condition). Together (you & me) we did it! I'm back to brisk walking again!! Now, when I want a quick, gentle stretch or take a movement break- I go right to your channel and always find just what I need! Thank you thank you thank you for caring for so many unseen people in the world... I presume you started to help clients and others during the pandemic... BUT you have kept going and I'm very grateful! May God continue to bless your efforts and care for others!!

    thank you so much. 10 mins is the amount of time with my ADD that I can actually stick with your video. I was in rehab over a year ago and slowing stopped stretching and exercising, my physician encouraged me to go back and do regular exercises/stretching so I am so pleased to find this video.

    This was a necessary complement to earlier strength training. My arms love, love, love (what I call the "Indiana Jones stretch") pushing imaginary walls away. Well done with the reminder to breathe!!!!!

    No. Is it here on RUclips under chair exercises? Appreciate your mentioning it. I'm doing more , so I will check them out. We just bought the Florida State Park Pass today. Planning on lots of walks too! I need to lose 40 more pounds, after the 96 I've lost already. Not easy, but I'm one determined woman! I'll get there!! 😁

    Best complete body stretch! I didn’t have to try to twist into a pretzel. You hold the stretches for adequate amount of time. This will be the stretch routine I use daily.

    Hello Jules, thanks for this stretching session, really worked for me (I’m from Flanders (Europe) and in Dutch we would say ’dit heeft echt goed gedaan’).
    Just to be honest, I read some of the other comments, all from women, while I am a 68 yr old male... if this is a problem, please say so ; I will blame RUclips anyway, because you popped up in my daily suggestions, lol.
    In one of your early videos (an easy 10 min walking exercise) you asked for our opinions or suggestions. If there is one thing I could ask, it would be fewer ’no talking’ vids. Having someone explain moves and stretches clearly, def makes a difference and simply is more pleasant imo.
    Anyway, thanks again, off to do the breathing & mindfulness part of this routine, bye !

      Hi Luc, I had Dutch relatives over from The Netherlands a few weekends ago:) I mostly create no-talking workouts now simply because that is what is more popular with my viewers. I do have a second channel for chair workouts where I do give verbal instruction because it's preferable on that channel. I'll add the link for you in case you're interested.     Thanks Jules! My husband wants to know about specific stretches for golfers. He’s 73, has a pacemaker and is now working on flexibility.

      Most of my stretching routines cover lower and upper body which would definitely give him a good routine. My suggestion is for him to try some of them, see which ones he likes and then try to do a stretching routine daily. I’ll have a new seated one up in the next few weeks on the chair channel.

    Hi Jules.....Started week 3 of the Walk the Weight Off, I can already see some good come out of this workout, also did the Ab workout and I see another Ab workout I will have to try that also. Did this stretch workout to finish out the day. I will be checking out these news for core and stretch, it really feels good at the end of the day.     Another very satisfying stretch, Jules. A bit different from the others but I crave variety so I was pleasantly surprised. It looks as though you gave us a taste of a small portion of Santorini, Greece. I've been there. It was magical, as were so many of the islands there that I traversed by sailboat.       You can do stretching every day...I recommend it actually! I think I already added the link in an earlier comment but I'll include it again just in case.     I wish the local YMCA had not removed all the chairs from the lobby. We gather there to wait for our group of runners and walkers to assemble and we could be stretching using chairs. You have a standing stretch right? Love all of your sessions that I have done. Thank you, Charlie in Syracuse NY.

      I don't have a standing stretch video simply because I find most people on my channel want the seated stretch. I could create one, though.

      @@ImprovedHealth Thanks. Your right. Most of the folks I know are over 70 but still active with hip and knee replacements. Chair stretches work well. I think that once Covid backs off the lobby will have no room for chairs. The locker rooms have chairs. I was just trying to fill the void in the lobby since Y attendance has dropped so much. Moving forward with hope. Thanks for responding.

      @@ImprovedHealth No no. I stretch at home in a chair. I was just blue skying, what if the running and walking group could sit in a part of the Y lobby and chair stretch before going out. We do stretch standing up before going out. Please put no stock in something being planned for the lobby involving chair stretching. I was just doing a “what if”.

      This isn't something I keep track of since I focus more on healthy movement, not calories burned (also because every body is different and the calories burned wouldn't be the same for everyone).

      Hi! Sorry but I can't answer your question. I don't keep track of the calories burned. The point of the stretching videos is to work on flexibility and range of motion.
